Has Barker a hope v Martinez? Empty Has Barker a hope v Martinez?

Post by Seanusarrilius Wed 20 Jul 2011, 6:12 pm

I like Darren Barker, i think he is good when on sky and a all round nice guy. In the ring he has some decent skills but with no real snap in his punches and a propensity for fighting to a certain standard what hope does he have v Martinez? Personally i think none? I see him being ko'd inside four much like gary lockett when he fough tPavlik. I hope he doesnt end up like Williams but he just doesnt have the skills to keep Martinez off him early. Fair play to Barker, he has taken his shot and will give it his all but i dont see him pulling out a performance like Macklin did against Sturm as his opponent is just too good.

Oh btw, let me say this depsoite our bickerings on here this board is a continuation of a the old 606 in the sense it is wicked. I have put in some time on other boards recently promoting my blog and there are some tools on the web. At least our tools have personality

anyway

cheers

Sure he has a hope. I'd love to further elaborate upon why, but I'm afraid the Pope's just come round to grout my bathroom.

Odds are the same.

Looks like it. Fully expected this to be a pretty easy nights work for Martinez and an early night at that

I think he'll give a decent account of himself - I actually think with the standard of 160lb fighters at present he probably is world level and capable of grabbing a title. The problem is his shot is against the one fighter in the division who is truly world class. Martinez isn't p4p no2 by accident, he has it all and is at a glorious peak right now. I think this will go the way of the Dzinzurik fight, with barker showing some skill and bravery but getting caught too often by Martinez slick, snappy southpaw punches and being stopped late.
