Official 606V2 Top 15 Pound for Pound Rankings (Please submit VOTES)
With this forum taking off I think it's time for the second official 606V2 POUND FOR POUND Top 15 rankings.
Rules:
Only 1 post per 606 member.
Only active fighters allowed (Floyd Mayweather has been rendered active, but this is at the discretion of respective posters)
Outlandish listing’s will be DQ (so please keep your listings sensible)
Principles:
Your Top 15 should be based as at the current point in time.
Point Scoring System:
Quite simple, #1 scores 15 points, #2 scores 14 points etc… I will tally up the totals by the deadline date and will present the results (using my Excel wizardry).
NOTE: PLEASE TRY AND USE THE FULL CORRECT SPELLING.
For the record, the previous Top 15 606v2 rankings as at 18th April 2011 was:
1 Manny Pacquciao. (1)
2 Sergio Martinez (3)
3 Nonito Donaire. (5)
4 Floyd Mayweather Jr. (2)
5 Juan Manuel Marquez (4)
6 Yuriorkis Gamboa (T17)
7 Pongsaklek Wonjongkam (14)
8 Timothy Bradley (12)
9 Wladimir Klitschko (7)
10 Carl Froch (13)
11 Giovanni Segura. (23)
12 Bernard Hopkins (8.)
13 Chris John (15)
14 Andre Ward (9)
15 Vitali Klitschko (16)
I expect changes given we are now judging the top 15 as opposed to the top 10
Deadline Date: Wednesday 27th July 2011 6pm
Many Thanks for taking part in this exercise, looking forward to the end result!

9. Amir Khan
10. Victor Ortiz
11. Bernard Hopkins
12. Yuriokis Gamboa
13. Vitali Klitschko
14. David Haye
15. Timothy Bradley
It is a disgrace for anyone to have Miguel Cotto in the top 15.

Beating a totally shot Mayorga and a nobody like Foreman does not give you a spot in the pound for pound top 15.

They are far from his biggest wins. I would say Cotto has a far stronger claim to a top 15 placing than David Haye. If you are using last couple of fights as your basis then Haye has been comprehensively beaten by Klitschko and holds a meaningless win over Harrison. Certainly dont see how that rates ahead of Cotto.

PBF, I don't mean to be rude, and I respect your opinion and your right to express it, but you do seem to be getting a bit hot under the collar about Cotto while simultaneously putting Floyd at the top of your list when Floyd has been missing nearly as long as Lord Lucan.
Seems a tad inconsistent, mate.

Haye has been the man at one weight something Cotto has never done and never likely to do...Haye got beat by a great fighter in Wladimir Klitschko no shame in that and also never quit like Miguel.
Only one time Cotto deserved to be in the top 10 was when he beat Mosley.

Even with the timeout Cotto hasn't beat a p4p fighter or became the man at one weight since Floyd Mayweather's break from the sport...Floyd Mayweather last 2 opponents have been in the pound for pound list...Also in Marquez's case he still on there.

Cottos losses: Pacquaio, Margarito
Hayes losses: Klitschko, Thompson
Cotto has the much superior wins despite not being the man at the weight.
You seem to have some kind o agenda against Cotto. I can understand reasons for excluding him from the top 15, but certainly not at the expense of the likes of Haye or even Ortiz who also quit, lost to a mediocre fighter and has yet to be the man at any weight. It seems highly inconsistent.

Bradley was the number 1 at 140 now Khan is
Haye the man at cruiserweight
Vitali and Wlad have been the man at heavyweight
Ward and Froch top 2 in their weight have beaten quality like Pascal, Abraham and Kessler
Gamboa and Donaire the best at their weight
Ortiz beat the highly rated Berto
Nice schooling you again Ghosty

Re: Official 606V2 Top 15 Pound for Pound Rankings (Please submit VOTES)
How many of them are the man at their weight, the fully legitimate universally recognised top guy because a quick scan of the 154lb division rankings show the following:
1. Miguel Cotto
Now that puts him on a level playing field with the likes of Khan, Gamboa and Donaire does it not?
Vitali and Wlad are collectively the divisions top two but it's impossible to say either is the man nor can we say that Ortiz is the man when he's currently not ranked number one.
Nice try schooling me but it seems as though you have one rule for Cotto and another for everyone else

Can't agree Khan is the man at 140, call me old school but in order to be the man you have to beat the man. Also cruiser is a long time ago for Haye, dear god how long is he going to be able to live off his exploits at cruiser.

Re: Official 606V2 Top 15 Pound for Pound Rankings (Please submit VOTES)
That makes no sense. To be the man at the weight you have to be clearly recognised as the number 1. Cotto has just as good a claim as Khan, Ortiz, Vitali, Froch, Bradley, Ward etc none of whom have proved they are the clear number 1.
Ortiz solitary win over Berto and status as the third best in his own division by your own ratings also contradicts your own point. How can a guy whos not even second best at his weight, has few top level wins and was recently defeated in similar circumstances to Cotto be more worthy?
Haye was the man at cruiserweight about 3 years ago. Now hes a mid top ten ranked heavyweight.
Cant understand your logic on this one.

Roy Jones is still active Rowley, can we bump him up the ranking based on his career pre Tarver or how about digging up the corpse of Sugar Ray Robinson.

Re: Official 606V2 Top 15 Pound for Pound Rankings (Please submit VOTES)
Not everyone would have Khan "the man". Haye was the man at CW some 4 years ago. If we're including Cotto's past CV then we're including the WW decision over Mosley and the great run at LWW surely. If we're being consistent.
No arguments regarding Vitali and Wlad having been "the man", nor Ward, Froch, Gamboa or Donaire.
However - Ortiz - much as I like the kid, quit at 140 and did very well to beat Berto - who was NOT p4p at 147. Foreman was "highly rated" - Cotto, who is not a natural light middle by any means schooled him.
Your list is full of double standards - and I would disagree with it. Cotto is p4p top 15 for sure.

How is Cotto rated number one at 154?
Wins over Mayorga and Foreman does not make you the man at the weight.
Khan's wins over Maidana, Kotelnik and Judah is superior to Cotto's
Same with Bradley as he has wins over Devon Alexander
Donaire has beaten pound for pound Montiel.
No bias from me
