606v2 Top 15 Pound for Pound rankings (please submit VOTES)
It's time to vote for the 606V2 POUND FOR POUND Top 15 rankings (Q1 2013).
Rules:

-Only active fighters allowed (must of fought in the last 18 months unless officially retired eg Shane Mosley)
-Outlandish listing’s will be DQ.
-A fighter needs two individual votes to have his points included.
Principles:
Your Top 15 should be based as at the current point in time.
Point Scoring System:
Quite simple, #1 scores 15 points, #2 scores 14 points etc… I will tally up the totals by the deadline date and will present the results.
NOTE: PLEASE TRY AND USE FULL NAMES (or correct surnames) & LIST your results.

Pretty much agree with manos but I'd swap Broner with Froch and perhaps Saul and Dawson.

i actually nearly left him out do to that reason, but his win over prince de leon was 18 months ago (well in march when i put my list up it was) so i gave him the benefit of the doubt as the OP said 18 months, if he doesn't do anything in the next couple of months he would drop from top 15 for me though

Haha. Yeah, pretty much my thoughts.
RE: Gamboa, he's dropped off my list due to a few reasons.
One being very inactive. Two, I don't think he is quite as good as is sometimes made out. I think he has very special talent. Hand speed and good power in abundance. But, he's there to be hit, dropped a few times in his last fight, and dropped in previous ones, think he's VERY beatable, in that "Naz" sort of way. But don't think he's actually as good as Naz was.
of course one good win and he makes a reappearance on my list, due to being a bit better than other guys, but other guys recently have simply done more.

It's a strange one a p4p list...
We are meant to take size out the equation. If that is the case can we remove chin/speed/power etc?

You guys put a lot of store into time at the top and overall record.....
Think If you guys had been around 25 years ago Curry would never have been P4P number 1 over Hagler.........
and it may have been a good thing.............
Surprised as any to see Don usurp him..............

You also have to consider that we don't get the best fighting the best or people working the proper way to title shots nowadays so it makes a p4p list that much harder a puzzle than it might have been 25 years ago.

that was in 2009, JMM was way above his normal weight and out of shape, but the reason JMM is above Floyd is because he beat Manny Pacquiao, who the hell has Floyd beaten recently, shot "rejuvenated" Cotto, Ortiz, neither were in P4P top 10, Manny was atleast top 3 and JMM KO'd Him.
P4P lists are active, mayweather is not, you have to take into account competition and wins, not ability alone, Sure Floyd is Number ability wise, but he hasnt fought anyone recently. JMM has been far superior.

Didn't look tremendously "Out of shape" looked as though he had a slightly higher body fat percentage, which is to be expected not having long enough to build his body up correctly. He lasted the distance fine, had no trouble with stamina despite being moved about and pressured and being constantly tensed up.

Re: 606v2 Top 15 Pound for Pound rankings (please submit VOTES)
Personally I think I would have to feel JMM would have a decent shot at beating Mayweather in order to rank him above. They are both welters now. But I really cant see JMM winning that even though hes probably grown into the division better. On last performance JMM was better but thats about it really.

He lasted the distance fine, had no trouble with stamina despite being moved about and pressured and being constantly tensed up.
Look at the difference, marquez looked overweight in floyd fight, he did not gain the weight in correct manner, unlike later in the Pacquiao fight.

But I really cant see JMM winning that even though hes probably grown into the division better. On last performance JMM was better but thats about it really.
I dont think JMM would win, but he has better recent wins than floyd so i rate him higher

Well spotted Az! I kept thinking I had missed someone. Not sure how I missed froch though as he's probably my favourite fighter to watch. I shall amend.

The kessler loss does still niggle a bit for me though. I think his improvements since have been dramatic though. Winning the rematch would push him into the top ten for me.

that was in 2009, JMM was way above his normal weight and out of shape, but the reason JMM is above Floyd is because he beat Manny Pacquiao, who the hell has Floyd beaten recently, shot "rejuvenated" Cotto, Ortiz, neither were in P4P top 10, Manny was atleast top 3 and JMM KO'd Him.

I guess it depends on what you see a pound for pound list as being supposed to reflect. It would seem to me that your methods indicate its whoever has the best recent wins rather than who is actually the best fighter.

If the P4P list was only about best fighters, many guys in the pre-historic days of boxing wouldn't be included.

I draw a distinction between all time pound for lists and current ones. For me, a current pound for pound list is about who the best fighters in the world are at the moment. An all time pound for pound list I view as basically ranking fighters on acheivement.

I agree. But for me an ATG P4P should be about who are the best fighters.

What would you base that on though?

I take into account both things, the reason you have to take into account there recent wins is because fighters improve and deteriorate and sometimes quite quickly, not saying floyd but in general, but to to prove that they haven't declined, they have to fight a decent opponent, hence why i take into account recent fights and performance in those recent fights, to me its simple, JMM KO'd pacquiao a top P4P fighter, Fighter of the decade, he Knocked him unconscious, Mayweather went to a some what competitive decision against a past his best miguel cotto, who was towards the bottom end of Most top 15 P4P lists at the time.
You simply can not state someone is the best without competition, sure you can say you think they are better, like i think Floyd is better than JMM, but I wont rank floyd over JMM at this moment of time, eventhough i rank him higher in ATG list, but P4P lists are meant to active, meaning recent fights have to be taken into place.
I know you and most would agree with me when I say JMM W-KO over Pac>Floyd W-UD over Cotto, if not JMM W-KO over Pac>Floyd W-UD over Cotto + W over Ortiz
