live scores- 30-31/7/11 Croke-adile tears
It ain't fair asking Roscommon fans to travel up on a saturday to watch their team play and then have to pay again on the sunday for them to watch their other team play.
It ain't fair asking Mayo fans to travel up on a saturday to watch their other team play and then have to pay again on the sunday for them to watch their team play.

I know this is a GAA site lads but just watching Airtricity X1 v Man City and there is serious booing of Valdimir Weiss going on due to his Rangers connections............................close up to grown "men" in Celtic shirts shouting obscenities and giving 2 fingers to him and this is going live to millions. It's not a small minority either...................
Celtic is a great club with great traditions. True Celtic fans must despair with a large amount of pond life in this country who associate themselves with their club in order to espouse bigotry and sectarianism.............what a great country we are.........................

He doesn't deserve that treatment but Celtic aren't an Irish club any way so I don't see why a lot of Irish people support them.

Strong irish traditions. If you play for an anti Irish football club, you should be jeered.
tyrone run off from plucky roscommon late on 3-19 to 1-14. a couple of late goals as ros chased it.

Kildare get the first score after 2 minutes.
I hope they smash donegal.
2 players in the Kildare half....that isn't football.

Good first 35 from ros, tyrone V Dubland next in the QF.
To be fair rangers have softened a wee bit since souness, it's the supporters of the club that are explicitly anti-Irish from what I've seen and it is they who probably hold back the club from having a friendlier disposition to Irishness like what most British clubs do. I don't think Weiss is personally anti-Irish.
Celtic aren't an Irish club but like Liverpool and some other English clubs they have strong Irish connections like their founding in 1888 by an Irish marist brother and a tradition of fielding Irish players, so its understandable why some Irish fans support them Thom.
0-02 each now, I hope Kildare do well too, the slant on our defeat wont be as bad. They also play much better football than donegal.

god they are horrid.
I played my first game of hurling today. I played in goals. I let one in but that was a square baw and gave some rotten puck outs....some daycent wans too.
I am 5 minutes behind in the game and it is 2 apiece.

Weiss ingratiated himself with them though. i don't know how anyone could play for them. I suppose they could make the same case for our support for a now defunct group of militant Irish republicans, however that is neither racist or sectarian.
Celtic are the club of the Irish diaspora, the Irish influence is visible and tangible, I don't understand why folk don't get that.

I don't really think you can make the same case about Celtic's support. Sure they'll have they're morons just like everyone else but I can't remember the last time Celtic fans sang about being up to their knees in the opposition's blood, told them to go home or sent bullets and bombs to the opposition's manager. The ira stuff at Celtic is less visible on the whole than the more militant rubbish you get from some sections of the rangers support. Not all of their fans are like that either, I know a few decent rangers fans who aren't anti-Irish. I do get you're point though, I wouldn't play for them personally.
Good, 0-02 to 0-05 to Kildare now, 45 yard score from callaghan. And if it wasn't for their wides, something of a kildare trademark this year, they could be further ahead.

I imagine it is half time now. Working off my own clock Donegal are passing up a couple of scoring chances. Jim McGuinness up to some funny business. Taking off the child and bringing on the man child.

for god sake, Kildare robbed of a goal.
how could they call a square ball for that? a 4 point swing right there as Donegal press on and score a point.
In a game this tight and devoid of real chances, refs have to get that right. huge ramifications. They rightly called derry for a square ball last week, but that is 2 BIG matches Kildare can rightly point to bad square ball calls.

1-6 to 0-3 changes to 0-6 to 0-6 in a matter of minutes. Donegal seem to have come on strong rather than the bad call affecting Kildare.

the world cup draw will follow this match.....
Sepp Blatter: but vy do ve have to delay ze draw?
Fifa suit; Roscommon and armagh minors went to extra time putting the Tyrone and roscommon 4th round qualifier back 15 minutes and in turn the Donegal V Kildare quarter final and that has now gone to extra time.
Sepp Blatter; Typical bloody GAA Tell Pele to keep the crowd varm vith a few gags till ze bog ball has finished.
0-12 to 1-7 8 minutes in.

what is bigoted about that?
having an active dislike for racism and sectarianism and of those who are happy to earn their living at a club gleefully profiteering out of it doesn't strike me as a particularly controversial viewpoint.

Lads. Lads! Lads!! How about we leave our soccerball differences asside now and stick to GAA.
Mayo in Croker today to continue their run to Sam glory against the south-west monarchists, should be a cracker. Is Donncha O'Connor starting? Was impressed with his shooting display against Down last time out. A potential semi with Kerry is a good motivator for the rebels, a lot of old scores will be settled there and RB and redtop will most likely be at war.

Donncha will be starting. It would be the mother of all shocks if he didn't.
A lot of responsibility rests on him today.
without Colm O'Neill, Ciaran Sheehan, Daniel Goulding and Barry O'Driscoll we can't afford any more injuries. Spread out across the team would be one thing but that is a serious hit to our striking power......especially when 1-9 don't score enough....rolly eyes in the direction of Brolly (as tony davis whupped him on last week)

Cork have strength in depth I still think they'll manage to cope convincingly up front, even with all those injuries concentrated in the forwards. Can't get the Cork team anywhere but it could be a bluff like last week anyway.

Just your resident Taffy reporting from Dubsville. I actually watched the Kildare game yesterday. I thought it was a bit dull until the extra time.

RB,
We'll agree to disagree. I was wrong to say that............................
Gutted for kildare. Is it not about time we hear from the President of the GAA on the Square ball issue. Apparently a square ball is defined in the rule book as "being in the small paralellogram". Unfortunately some of o connor was in and some of him was out. GAA fans deserve answers.......................
Well done Donegal & Tyrone.........................................

No worries JC
I am gutted for them too. I would be absolutely fizzing to be on the wrong end of some of those decisions. the square ball will, rightly, get highlighted but there was so much niggly stuff going on that you would hope the refe would see and call at least some of the time. O'Connor held his ground on the edge of the square. In a sport where nothing is really absolute (steps is only called when the ref feels like a player has pushed it), how can they be absolutely certain enough to disallow it? They made the right call against Derry last week but that was obvious. two stinking decisions cost them 2 years in a row.
when Masterson lost the plot on the sunday game last week we got a sense of what these lads give only for it to be taken away by poor officiating. we know there is going to be human error but the officials need the kind of training that means they learn to make the right decisions more often.
Keep her lit Cari. I hope the scotch are behaving themselves in ONC (our nations capital)....where has Hartley gone again?

shur Limerick have no expectations and Kerry don't travel. Cork were there last week and Mayo might not show up till later, if at all.
Limerick miss a goal chance... I say miss, it was a good save.
Kerry are bright enough.
Lucey off injured already and struggling with the placed ball. 3 missed chances for Limerick, three taken chances for Kerry. Darran and Declan going very well.
