OK question for Cork fans..........
When was last time that Cork were not involved in an All Ireland Semi Final in either Hurling or Football ?

I'm going to guess 2001,as I think the footballers got to the semis in 2002. Am I the only one who thinks Counihan is clueless? RB,hasn't really commented on it.

Can you win two league titles an the AI with a clueless manager.
Cork are a good team but not a great team. Great team have players who can change the course of games from the pitch. I dont think CC is a master tactician but is there a manager you can point to who is.

Re: live scores- 30-31/7/11 Croke-adile tears
I would have got that too!!
I said the same thing to a lad at training last night.
we have changed personnel, rather than style to get through games. CC has been much better in recent times in reacting to make changes of personnel. It has proven successful till now.
On sunday, we couldn't call on those lads, so it was imperative that we made changes, as mayo did (not bragging, but I did call it in this thread). Those changes never came. The players obviously trust CC and he them. If there is a change in the offing, it should bv amongst the selectors.
getting a successful tactic like that right is apparently something that can be done very quickly (mayo, dublin, donegal). we have the players to do it, I'd hate the spectacle but it is better than feeling this sore.

Last year's AI was practically given to us,Dublin collapsed against us and we faltered against an average Down team. It is certainly one of the most talented Cork teams in a while and he has not done that much with them. We have some of the best players inthe country but still can't beat the likes of Kerry. Who cares if we won the league,it is not a big deal shown by the likes of Mayo and Donegal(they weren't great when they won it but are now a team on the rise) over the last few years.

Changintg tack completely back to the "square ball" in Kildare Donegal, i watcked back the footage.
Tomas O'Connor never celebrated, he kept his head down, as if he was expecting it to be disallowed............why??...........i think his action(inaction) had a big bearing on the referee.................

That was some game. I went from watching that terrible Ranger's game to watching that excellent hurling match. I had never seen Aidan Walsh play before last night but he is some player, he should never play football for Cork again with hurling skill's like that. Fair play to Limerick they got the goal's that won it.

Walsh will be in demand for the hurling surely now........for a man whose shooting in football can be wayward, his shooting with the stick was unbelieveable last night....................i loved the killer instinct Limerick had last night when it came to going for goals...............

He could and probably should do a Cadogan. The kid was amazing lastnight. Cregan, his shooting in football is alway wayward! I watched one of their training sessions before and was stunned when Walsh put the ball over from around the sideline around 35m out. Pity he can't do that for the footballers. Ciarán Sheehan would have been playing if it wasn't for his injury. Damo Cahalane did good on Downes,a fella who destroyed the Waterford full back line.

As anyone who played gaelic games would know Hurling is for those who cannot play football. Much easier to hit the small ball over the bar from 50 to 60 yards out with no one around you than trying to kick a football over from 30 yards surronded by defenders.

Congratulations John on Limerick's great win last night in the U21 final. Limerick is still a Hurling county.

a magnificent game it was last night. I was at a match so recorded it. it cut off just as Limerick scored a levelling point in extra time.
our aidan deserved motm, his point to send the game to et was out of this world.

Re: live scores- 30-31/7/11 Croke-adile tears
Rebel, you must be gutted after last Sunday. That was a terrible second half by Cork. Even though Mayo did very well at midfield ye got enough of the ball but just did'nt know what to do with it. No leadership shown on the pitch or off it. Also what happened the Cork defence. Some of those Mayo points were scored with the nearest Cork player 20 feet away. Kerrigan was brilliant as usual and O Connor got no service at all but a lot of the Cork players just disappeared. I was all ready for we owning ye at Croker yet again!

absolutely sickened AKA. The post mortem is that we thought we'd take it pulling up. The heat came on and we couldn't respond.
Counihan has won by changing personnel rather than system. when we couldn't do that, we had nothing. maybe it is time to impose a style of play rather than keep on keepin on.

Re: live scores- 30-31/7/11 Croke-adile tears
AKA,anger in Cork is somewhat split. Some of it is heaped on Counihan, rather deservedly in my view, while some of it is on our bad luck with injuries. We stumbled over the line last year and there is no doubt that this was the weakest defence of an All Ireland for some time. Counihan hasn't changed his tactics for any of his games when they haven't been working like Dublin last year,or Mayo and Kerry this year.

Rebel! Are you serious? Have you ever about a guy called Ryan McMenamin from Tyrone? I think he would be No. 1.

Yeah, I'm deadly serious. McMenamin comes in 3rd or fourth. John Mullane is right up there too. St Tommy walsh (kk) isn't punchable, but he is annoying. The entire GAA viewing public can see the dirt oozing out of him, but he gets nothing but plaudits. The Bradleys are slappable, a bit different to punchable but in the same vein.

McMenemin is No.1 for me followed by(in no particular order) Geraghty, Mullane, Eoin Kelly(Wat'ford), Tomas O Se, Cooper(why not), Tommy Walsh, Galvin(of course), Sean Og(especially when he's talking "as gaeilge") and the Louth manager Fitzpatrick..............................

I think we would all love if Galvin got the "Conal Keaney treatment"
Also,Sean Óg's Irish is actually pretty bad. Everyone else hates but he is a cork lad so we have to love him

yeah, I haven't much Irish at all but I can get the odd sentence here and there. More than an average Londoner anyway. I listened to sean og and I could get a decent amount. It might be bad Irish, but it was easier for me...for whatever reason. A lot of them throw in the old "dya know" and "like".
He did look very ill at ease though,, but that'll come in time.
I rate Colm Cooper at a shlap and Gerahty at a kick. The fake eoin Kelly is a shlap too.

I hadn't included managers myself.
As a player I rated him highly but he needed a slap more than a punch.
