Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
Yeah, i thought the Saffa front row worked well as a unit. Jannie always does his bit around the park but sometimes struggles in the scrum. Interestingly he always seems to scrum better when he packs down next to Bismarck as opposed to Smit. Smit is a good scrummaging hooker so it shouldn't really be like that, so can only think it is a mental thing with Jannie maybe.
Steenkamp and Beast both looked pretty good, but to be fairAfoa is not top draw international. He's a good player for sure, but they both need to put in some performances against a real top draw tighthead. Adam Jones up against them in the world cup should be interesting.

Jones gave Roncero real probs in first half but the old man came back quite well in the second. Jones is huge for Wales, James is pretty average for me and only holds his own when Jones is at TH.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
Jones is massive for them, particularly with Rees out, as he is a good scrummager, so losing him is a blow. If Wales lose Jones as well they will get battered in the scrum as Mitchell isn't quite up to it at international level yet.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
Jones is key to Wales chances full stop. Ledesma is a great scrummager so dealing with Roncero and him shows he is back. Roncero is a bit past it now but still a decent scrummager. Jones was seriously blowing in the second half

I'm not surprised he was blowing Mat, that's a fair old lump he has haul around the pitch and he's not played much rugby this year!
Just watching North Harbour vs. Northland here in the ITM Cup. Not the best ITM cup game I've seen this season to be honest.

Sounds as though the England WC squad has been leaked - apparently after Care got injured Flutey was dropped, they were only going for two scrum halves up until then.
He's gone for a 17-13 split on the bench.

I don't think that Deans was judging Barnes form in those games Chris, it was mainly about fitness and the ability to get through 80 minutes without a migraine.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
Steven, apparently that's it, as Johnson told the players who was in and who was out last week - guess we find out tomorrow! Domingo is injured at the moment, he's just about ok to play but not at international level - kind of the same situation as Sheridan, who I dont think has played since February!
Pete, wasnt trying to say Giteau was world class, just highlighting the pass he pulled off to set up the try. Was class. Seems like Robbie Deans is the only Australian who wouldnt have wanted Giteau at the WC - still think its a crazy decision.

Domingo was never considered as he's injured Steve, Barcella only just made it in after proving his fitness against Ireland.

Not a bad result for me then - now if only i had a scrum half - am pretty certain that Simpson will go to the WC now.
How do people rate Giteau as a 9 these days? I'm umming and aaring about whether to play Stuart Commins from Saints or not - really good player and has played in HC final too, though is second fiddle to Dickson.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
I've got charlie davies and stuart commins otherwise - tempted with Beauxis at 10, Giteau at 12 and then Lualala at 13. Then a backthree of Savea, Arscott and Cipriani, Arscott has played really well in pre-season.
Looking at potentially selling Eves, Geraghty, Mason, along with Watson, Kankowski.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership Season 4 homepage
Davies has got a lot of talent, but hasnt got the game time to fulfill his potential - played 7 games for Stade the season before last. Nic Berry is ahead of him.
Stuart Commins has got lightning fast service, very accurate pass and good game management, but doesnt really offer that much around the park yet. Want to put out a big pack and give him an easy ride, as to be honest all the top, top no9s will be at the WC so they cant single handidly lose me a game (I hope).
Also saw a couple of comments about Luke Watson not being rated anymore due to him playing in SA - for me he's a quality player, and just wanted to see whether I will get marked down for playing him, as if so might as well just free transfer him! Also what are people going to do in terms of marking down players who go to Japan? Will they be marking down guys like Haskell, Walder, Mapasua etc?

Watson has got a few months before he starts losing it, SA 2nd division rugby will take a hit. Similar with players going to Japan, they get a few months grace. Bit like an injury for me, players get a fair few months before taking a hit.

Maybe the likes of TOL, FLutey (if) and Beattie would have to be marked down for form, but then on the other hand, people like AB back three players not. If Guildford doesn't get the nod, you can't say he's on bad form for example.

I will rate TOL and Flutey on their current form, which is pretty poor, the fact they have missed out on WC selection wont impact it though.

Same as Luke and Nick. Will be marking players on their actual form. TOL has been dreadful and will be marked as such. Flutey has been fairly average no weakness but not a strenght either for me.

Some interesting selections/ommissions for Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Can't wait for the England announcement later, and also sweating a little on the New Zealand and South Africa announcements in terms of this game. Would be handy to have Lambie and Toeava available for selection during the World Cup.
