It is getting boring isn't it? I hope there isn't too much fuss in the valleys when the pendulum swings back and Wales go down to a bad call...

mite still whinging and making any excuses to make it look better for his poor nation. In all these years of rugby matches england lead us by one game.............what a convincing argument that is. Next year at Cardiff will make it all square that one certainty. 2 more wins and possibly 1 0r 2 in Australia and we can at least make 4th best our position and where we genuinely belong what what

Re: IRB World Rankings ... Part 1
Just to note...Portnoy you have made an error on Scotland score. Theres no way they are losing nearly 2 whole ranking points to take them below Italy for a narrow loss against a side that were 6.4 ( with home weighting) ahead of them.
Scotlands gap with Italy will stay about the same as it was previously.

You are right PSW: garbage in garbage out:
If sco win by 1-15 points 1.640 76.94 83.06 No
If sco win by more than 15 2.460 77.76 82.24 No
If result is a draw 0.640 75.94 84.06 No
If fra win by 1-15 points 0.360 74.94 85.06 No

Ok two points here:
(1) If you admit England lead by one game, then how does that make Wales better? as was the claim in the OP.
(2) The ellipses (...) is a gramatical construct used to indicate deliberate ommission of a word or words, or an unfinished thought. Its composition is a triple dot glyph. I think this might have been what you were searching for, whereas a long string of dots at the end of a sentence is completely meaningless and makes you look like a putz.

6th in the world in 2009, 12th in the world now.
Not good enough. I don't give a stuff about the 'player numbers' excuse either.
We have the infrastructure to train our few players better than most countries but not the systems.

We don't have sour grapes when we lose.
Some of the games took place ... oh years ago, before your wendy ball team won the world cup in 1966 (stiffles laughter).
We are the better team now, 2 wins on the trot against england one home one away, next stop 2013 and Cardiff and that'll be 3-0.
I know you are angry and hitting your keyboard but try and calm down and focus. Picking me up for ........ hardly touches the surface

Re: IRB World Rankings ... Part 1
Looking at the table the top half looks about right NZ on top, with France, Oz and SA all in the mix for the top 3, then Wales and England are pretty close together so there's little in the score difference.
But then Argies above Ireland might be a bit contenious, and Samoa and Tonga about Scotland and Italy as well - but I suppose those two do play against each other, Tonga and Japan a lot, while Scotland/Italy play against the Top 3 sides and France/England a lot.

Re: IRB World Rankings ... Part 1
That was my point Mitey (subtle though it may have been) - Fiji play Samoa and Tonga - who they have a pretty good chance of beating.
Scotland play Oz, SA, France and England - out of them they've only got a decent record of beating England - so obviously Fiji are going to rank higher in the table because Scotland are playing much tougher opposition.

Nieuw Zeeland bought the last one. Venue, draw, refs and all. Now that the IRB have given them that sop, we can all get back to business as usual. In all fairness...

Actually I think you´ll find we bought two World Cups. Why do you think we´re struggling financially? At least though when we do buy a ref, he lets us win. England had bought the ref on the weekend and didn't realise Steve Walsh was always going to run back to the NZRFU with the money. What were you thinking?

In the spirit of fairplay and equality:
Well Martin Johnson treated SANZAR as a discount store to buy a 6 nations.

Now that England are behind Wales, does anyone else think that this thread should be made un-sticky?

PERHAPS the sticky IRB rankings thread should be un-stickied and replaced by a leaderboard of countries participating in RWC finals.
England - 3
NZ - 3
France - 3
Australia - 3
South Africa - 2
Everyone else including Wales - 0

Re: IRB World Rankings ... Part 1
I would prefer it to be by way of cups won and success percentage.
1. SA - 2 - 40%
2. NZ, OZ - 2 - 29%
4. England - 1 - 14%
Then finals.
5. France - 3.

I think living in the here and now is a reflection of where each respective country is and probably the most mature way to look at these matters
