Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
I would imagine the Aussies low order would be
8) Johnson
9) Harris
10) Copeland
11) Lyon
Apart from that I think your spot on with the teams.

i think the aussies should have had steve smith in the side..
lyon playing as one spinner, in sri lanka you need 2 spineers.

I agree you need 2 spinners but not Smith though. If Hauritz was fit he would have been handy.

Bliemy, when did Australia become a good side...last time I checked they were a bloody shambles and couldnt find a professional spinner.

the sri lankans have been absymal yet again in their own conditions.

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
Australia have bowled very well, especially Ryan Harris who's been superb, but they have been some dreadful shots played by the Sri Lankans (Paravitana, Dilshan, Sangakkara and Randiv spring to mind)

50 up for Matthews, Sri Lanka need him to stick around.
Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
the sri lankans just can seem to string a batting performance together at the moment..

ryan harris looks to be making himself a good test match player..

SL look short of confidence in the batting department. Why was Herath dropped? he looked far better than Randiv and still no Mendis? strange selections from SL.

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
Mendis done well in the T20's and one-dayers, strange call from the Sri Lankas selectors.
Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
herath took like 7 or 8 wickets in the first test and somehow gets dropped

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
Herath and Mendis were both injured according to cricinfo: Herath had an injured finger, and Mendis a bad back...

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
does anyone know where hazlewood is in the pecking order?
Guest- Guest
Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
He's been playing for Australias emerging line-up been playing well so I doubt he's to far behind the likes of Copeland and Harris.
Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
Hazlewood had back fractures and since has been overtaken by Copeland. Plus guys like Pattinson and Starc would probably be in front of him.

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
I feel a bit for guys like Mahela and Sanga. Dilshan is a dreadful captain and his wild batting style is hurting SL.
Dilshan should be stripped of captaincy after this series. Was he taking the mick by bowling Sanga today? With the new ball as well!!! Laughable.

sanga bowled again today, his medium pace aint bad, but to be honest sri lanka have no decent bowlers

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
A brilliant maiden Test century for Marsh. First No.3 to do so for 86 years... since Bill Ponsford and the 19th Australian to do so on debut.
Hussey also back to some decent form with 142.

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
Hussey has een very good so far in the series, with bat and ball and in the field come to mention it! Anyway, SL will be grateful for the rain today, it's their best hope of saving the test match now...

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
it was a draw CF, Sri Lanka were about 80 ahead with six wickets down and then it rained. Australia unlucky I think

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
Australia will be massively disappointed not to win this test match. A lot of selection issues to be sorted out for Sri Lanka.
Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
sri lanka need to bring herath and mendis into the side.

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
i think australia should play a 2nd spinner as well...Michael beer could play as aussies have shane watson who has performed brillantly as a 3rd seamer, and hussey bowled very well in the last test, if they are desperate..Copeland would probably be the man to miss out.

Why do you think Beer would do better than Copeland?I dont believe in picking a spinner for the sake of it.Copeland has been brilliant IMO.If anyone has to miss out it would have to be Mitch. But I would go with the same attack.

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
in australia one spinner is fine, but the final test is at colombo, and that usually turns more than kandy did, so i think a 2nd spinner is needed.

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
If Australia did play two spinners, Copeland should stay in the side.
Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
its good to see shane watson, being vice captain now, staying injury free and performing well with bat and ball

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
I think Watson should be tried at 3, Australia have a few of talented openers around and playing 3 wouldn't be bad idea. Warner won't be to far from selection.
Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
i have a sneaky feeling that sri lanka will win the final test, and draw series 1-1

Big guns will have to deliver, they've been poor so far

I cant see them taking 20 wickets.Herath is the only real wicket taker in their side.
BTW If you are gonna play a second spinner, how about dropping Mitch? He hasnt done anything so far.Copeland is far more reliable.
But if I were to be the selector I would go with the same 4+1 attack.

i think that will be the way they go, i would just like to see them play 2 spinners.

it would be tough to drop him, but if they were to play a 2nd spinner, then i would leave him out.

Why not Mitch? What has he done to be picked ahead of Copeland?

Re: Sri Lanka vs Australia 2nd test match thread
i also think warner should be brought into the side, for either hughes or khawajla.
