The All Ireland Champions of 2011 Will Be................
The Big One 2011- Kerry V Dubs
First topic message reminder :
This years All-Ireland final is now only five days away and the kingdom are due to announce their team later today. Kerry have won 8 of the teams previous final meetings with the dubs triumphing 3 times. Already seeming that Kerry are the favourites for this one and there's competition for places in the Kerrymen's starting XV before finalisation including that annoying Kumquat Paul Galvin pushing for a place. More good omens coming from the Kerry camp as far as the more neutral spectators are concerned as Jack O'Connor is confident that Kerry fans will not tolerate Donegal standard horseshit, so they should be entertaining at least.
This wee island isn't big enough for the two of them, who will be crowned ultimate champions of the whole universe? If you're county has already been KO'd who do you want to win? Who do you want to see in the teams and what kind of match are you expecting? Here's to what will hopefully be a great final and let me be the first to nail my colors to the mast for this one and say- UP THE KINGDOM!

Yeah I just saw that there. MOre to that then meets the eye I think. A bit gutted the Dubs won but I'm warming to them ever so slightly after seeing how much it means to them. Love the way Spillane is in disbelief over Kerry losing that lead.
Could this be the end of this Kerry team's success to such a big degree? Their not getting any younger and they just ran out of steam at the very end were it mattered.
Still as much as it pains me to say it, Well done the Dubs!

Maybe he was just emotional Rebel. I bet when he had to take that kick, he felt the weight of the world on his shoulders.

I am happy for the Dubs and I think I'm losing my Corkonian touch because of it! I will have to hand in my Corkonianess tomorrow.
Congrats to the Dubs, not the purest brand of football but it gets results!

Rebel - apparently Cluxton did the same at the Leinster final. Maybe he just likes to go away on his own and contemplate things, leave the others to the glory. I don't think it's a negative thing. He could be bawling his eyes out with joy somewhere!

I liked the look of the Tipp minor team. Some of the players were only 15 and 16!. Its a long way off but it would be good to see a sustained challenge to the Munster duopoly in their own province.

Re: The Big One 2011- Kerry V Dubs
I'll be watching the re-run on RTE, fantastic game. I should've went for the Dubs, again my support for someone has jinxed them and condemned them to defeat (the G-men better fookin win on tuesday mornin!)
From a Meath supporter I'll say w.....well......I can't say it.....
Well done Dublin. Kerry were relentless but the Dubs never gave up and battled their way back. They didn't play muck stuff and made an hugely entertaining final. And congrats to Cluxton for making history in such a dramatic fashion. Fair do's to both sides and credit to the Dubs on their dramatic victory, they are a credit to their manager and their supporters ........I still bloody hate them!
Go ahead and vote now RB, I'm thinking of changing mine.

How did Ger Brennan stay on??
How was Cluxton so calm(even afterwards)?
What was that strange free given for (the mystery hand on the ball in the square)??
Kerry will be aggrieved the ref allowed only 2 mins 10 secs added time.
Paul Galvin made a difference when he came on - to the detriment of his team.........
DELIGHTED FOR DUBLIN...............

Cheers RB, that gave me a laugh!!
You call it the Kenneally rule, I call it the Tomas O Se rule !!
In fairness to Jack O Connor, he was very magnanimous afterwards, no complaints from him..........

He was wasn't he. Fair play.
I thought Tomas had a great game today for the record. everything Kerry did well started at Tomas. I don't think he'd have got motm had kerry prevailed but for me, he stood out.
I still think Darran might have a shout at footballer of the year.

Re: The Big One 2011- Kerry V Dubs
What can I say!Really gutted! We almost had it but Declan gave the ball away and the rest is history. We have an oldish team but it looked like we were in control when four points up and were going to squeeze another AI title out of this fabulous group of players. We were very slow in tracking back after losing the ball for the goal but I suppose this was always going to be the problem with the older legs. The ref had a brual game in what was very sporting occasion and some strange frees were awarded including the winning one but hopefully these balance out over the 70mins. Well done to Dublin. They played with an amazing intensity. I suppose Kerry could have mixed it up a bit more and knocked in a few diagonal balls towards Donaghy as he did well with the few which were put in. But it it is all spilt milk now and Kerry have to plan for the future. This team owes their fans nothing. I cannot see this team winning anymore AI's and there will have to be wholesale changes. I can see a rivalry between Cork and Dublin over the next few years. Well done Dublin!

Comiseration's Akaredtop, you were in control but this Dublin team will never give up, their self belief and mental toughness are the biggest differences between them and previous Dublin teams. As you said this Kerry team owe's the fan's nothing and im sure you will be back sooner rather than later.

He hate's the spotlight, he run's off so he does'nt have to give interview's. I have to say I was a bit disappointed he did'nt lift the trophy with the lad's but that's up to him he can do what he wants after that free.

AKA,
I dont think the poor refereeing balanced out at all. I think Dublin definitely got the big decisions. I think on balance, a draw would have been appropriate, but it's a while since Kerry's options off the bench were as limited.......

By God that was a boring final. Congrats to the Dubs all the same, Kevin Nolan's point was pretty good to level 'er. It was also interesting to see Pat Spillane guaranteeing Kerry wouldn't play sweeper pre-match but then nearly every time I seen Paul Galvin he was back fouling inside the 45!

Cluxton is just like that. I've spoken to his team mates before that thing didnt surprise me. He celebrated on the pitch at the final whistle so he's not joyless he just doesn't like the spotlight.

Glad to hear that your liver is suffering a bit Mickado. It wouldn't have been much of a celebration for you otherwise When Bryan Cullen said "See you all in Coppers later.." I thought what a free advert for the place that was! I bet the queue was round the block! I don't know if you went there, but did you go to the celebrations they had on tonight?

Tomas got my nod for MOTM(for Kerry at any rate). Part of the reason is that he played that ball more often than anyone else. It caused the Dubs problems and negated the packed defence. Sheehan got picked by the sunday game but he didn't stop the tide.

I'd say it's yerselves and the Dubs over the next 3 or 4 years with challengers in Kildare and Mayo.

Don't know. You got to the final handy enough with no midfield to speak of.
Football needs great tacticians and we are not using them. we need to get wise & it has never looked like we will.

Aka,
That's being a bit hard on yereselves............there is still the nucleas of a great team there and ye will always be better than Mayo.........Kerry were very unlucky to lose IMO, one misplaced pass and it opened the floodgates.........on another day, Kerry could have won by 6 or 7..................
RB, agree on Tomas o Se, he was superb, as was Donaghy..........so impressed with Dublin's mental strength after what happened them against Cork in 2010 and 2011 league final.....................

But as you previously posted our bench was the weakest ever. If 4 or 5 guys have to leave and there is no one to replace them we will not compete with the top teams. Yes we could have won the match and no one would have complained but I think Dublin are worthy champions at the end of the day.

Wow
That was some game, i cant believe we won like that
Kev mc is some man, i played underage with him all the way up and have never been prouder, everyone in the club was so proud of him and all the lads.
Atmosphere was something else, cluxton is everything a winner should be, he reminds me of paul scholes.
kerry had there tactics pretty right on how to stop dublin by stopping the kickouts and using donaghy at the start for this, they lacked a bit of gumbtion going forward which is odd for a kerry team, but maybe shows how could the defense played.
Finally the second biggest winners this week were the publicans, dont think town has been that full on a monday in manys a year
