Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4 homepage
Cooper is the only man trying anything and the only one who has threatened the All Blacks line.
I stand by what I said about McCaw.
The ref is missing AB's in the side a lot, every 50/50 going NZ's way. NZ back 3 has been excellent.
Well played SBW.

Sorry Steve, but Cooper has been poor, as have the Wallabies overall.
Real lack of spark and invention out there from them. They really missed Kurtley Beale, he is a player who creates from nothing.
Australia have been very disappointing in this tournament.

McCaw turned it on in the last 20, but I wouldn't have known he was playing till then.

I understand your defence of Cooper Steve but he had an awful game and a pretty dire WC.
Agree with Pete, Aus have played within themselves.
I thought McCaw was superb as was whole of NZ pack. World class players rise to the big games.
Dagg and Jane quality in the AB backline but forward dominance was set from the off.

What NZ get away with at the ruck is ridicolous. Some of their rucking was fantastic, but the rest was illegal. In from the side, off their feet there was a little bit of everything today.
Cruden didn't do much, I probably wouldn't say he played well but he was steady. Unless he was a world beater in the first 15 mins which I missed then he was ok but nothing special.

Some of the NZ stuff at the breakdown was illegal, but then so was some stuff from Aus. Neither team got away with any more than the other from what I saw.

Did you see the stuff Aus got away with against SA? Jesus man, was terrible. It's just playing the ref, thought Joubert was superb myself.
Are you Austrailian Steve or have relations? You seem to have a strong affection for them.
McCaw amazing imo, still unfit they reckon too

I only saw highlights of OZ v SA. Was too early for me.
I just don't enjoy watching NZ. I don't find them enjoyable to watch whereas I love watching Oz, mostly because they have players who aren't afraid to try thinga whether they go wrong or right.
Dagg today was truly brilliant. best player on the pitch by miles.

Just hope that the All Blacks stuff the French - cant believe Warburton has been given a three week ban! ITV did a clip reel of the players who had done dump tackles this WC and how none got a yellow, or were cited afterwards!
Got to love the IRB biased towards the southern hemisphere!

Thought Warburton deserved it tbh, bad tackle and a red in law books.
Dagg was immense but got to be a forward who gets motm after that collective performance.

Pooly going by your thoughts process then, why wasnt SBW red carded for his shoulder charge on Cooper? Dangerous tackle, just as dangerous as what Warburton did.
Warburton's been given 3 weeks to save Rolland - two disgraceful decisions in my opinion.

I can't look further than Dagg for MoM His work for that try was excellent (after a great TACKLE by Cooper). it was the only real chance NZ had really. Still one more than Oz

I Imagine SBW will be cited Chris. Was a dump by Warburton, he took the guy up and dropped him. If you look at law book it's a red. Can't see the debate myself.
I like Warburton and he's played really well but was a red all day long.

Chris
ITV are talking nonsense. Not one of the tackles they showed was the same as Warburtons. I saw the clip this morning and so did my wife who knows nothing about rugby, and even she commented that the other tackles looked different.
My personal opinion on the tackle was that is borderline yellow/red, but Rolland is consistent with his refereeing of that sort of tackle so I knew it would be a red from him. He has done his job properly within the laws of the game and people need to be getting off his case a bit to be honest. There is too much of this blaming the referee creeping into the game. Wales did not lose because Warburton was sent off, they lost because they left 11 eminently kickable points out there.

Nick Cain from the rugby paper wants the following England changes
Forwards coach: Rob Baxter
Attack coach: Jim Mallinder
Defence Coach: Shaun Edwards
Captain: Tom Croft
Good coaching choices are good but don't see Croft as captain

How are people feeling about the injuries then.
3 Scrum halfs out might have me a bit light for a few weeks. Also a blow losing both Warbs and Louw but I'm sure others will have taken harder hit!

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4 homepage
Think I've probably not done too badly with injuries, only Dusautoir really a nailed on starter for me, and wouldn't have him back from the World Cup for another couple of weeks anyway.
On that point, World Cup Final is next Sunday, and the next round of AP games is the following Friday for us. What are people's thoughts on French/Kiwi players in the teams? For me it's a no no as realistically they wouldn't be back at their clubs before Wednesday and would be seriously jet lagged, so I will be marking down for any of their players in a matchday 23.

I'd mark them down for playing that game. If it was a LV game against a second string welsh side or against rugby rovigo it wouldn't really matter.

Yeah, i think it's on Friday the 3rd/4th place game isn't it?
I might be a little less harsh with one of them on the bench, but would mark down if I saw any of them in the starting XV's.

I wouldn't play any of the 4 semi finalists next week and they will have their ability 'capped' if they have a had 4 or more starts and are in a match 22.
In my predictions will be 'capped' as I said. The best players in the world will be considered no more than average AP if they are in squads for the next AP game after playing in a semi and a full world cup. If they play in the final or 3/4 play off as well then there rating will decline further

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership season 4 homepage
The most annoying thing is with the Gym is that your strength develops as you get older. I used to massively hit the gym when i was playing a good level and got results but now i go once or twice a week and can lift lots more. I am 34 know and it is so much easier. they say you are at your strongest strength wise between about 33-40 and i would definitely agree with it.
Going to try doing the core excercise interludes off that brad thorn link you posted. Look at thorn not lifting anything like haskell etc yet one of the strongest guys in rugby.

Technique falls into it big style on a rugby pitch , Courtney Lawes has zero technique and just seems to fly into rucks with no real nous with regards to how to move someone who is a big lump and will more than likely just injure Lawe's shoulders.
I'v got a pretty good bosh technique at my level with a lot of defenders standing flat footed and already crouched so i just plant my front foot and step with my back foot and bosh the bloke , also helps i lead with the elbow haha.
Been able to move a defender is pretty big as grabbing him with one arm and keeping him at arms length and using fast little steps is a solid thing for players at any level.

Also what do people think englands 22 will be come 6Ns?
1.Corbisero
2.Hartley (c)
3.Cole
4.Attwood
5.Croft
6.Wood
7.Wallace - Been immense for quins and we've got to blood youngsters
8.Fearns
9.Care
10.Flood
11.Sharples
12.Tuilagi
13.Armitage
14.Ashton
15.Foden
Tuilagi and Armitage could be a match made in heaven , Both could interchange - Armitage has lovely hands and good footwork to tie defenders up and allow Tuilagi to drop to 13 and take his man on the outside.

My hatred for the gym is made up for by the fact that I am naturally pretty strong and don't lose collisions at any level I've played at up to now which is very very lucky on my part.
Go to the gym a lot but don't enjoy it.
