Struggling to be sympathetic with those scrabbling round for players 24 hours before the games. If the players on the bench cover most positions 6 should be fine anyway.

Re: Homepage
Following on from the Caribbean Cup episode from yesterday, an Irish mate of mine told me the following story. He's a QPR fan and, as is the case with most if not all of the same persausion, hates Chelsea as you will tell from his story.
Other than a very brief European adventure, the team I grew up with rarely made the news, until the infamous "lose to win" last match of the 1994/5 league season on Saturday 29 April 1995, when Bangor lost 2-0 away to bitter local rivals Ards and thereby AVOIDED relegation.
In 1993, the Irish League, consisting of one division of 16 teams, decided to split into a Premier Division of 8 clubs and a First Division, also of 8 clubs. In their infinite wisdom, the League decided the best way to determine who would drop into the new First Division would be to accumulate league positions (the lower the better therefore) over both the 1993/4 and 1994/5 seasons. Hmm.
The teams we need to concentrate on are Bangor, Ards, and Coleraine, and their relative league positions over the two seasons. At the end of the 1993/4 season, their positions were Bangor 5th, Ards 6th, and Coleraine 10th (much cheering for finishing above Ards).
Going into the final game of the 1994/5 season though, Coleraine were 6th, Ards were 7th, and Bangor 11th, meaning Ards had accumulated 13 places, Bangor 16, and Coleraine 16. Bangor could not finish higher or lower than 11th no matter the result of their final match so clearly it would be beneficial for Bangor if the hated Ards were to finish above Coleraine leaving them on a total of 17 places and thus below Bangor. Surprise, surprise, Bangor's last game of the season was away...to Ards.
Speaking as a Bangor fan, 'throwing' a game to the most evil team on the planet outside of Chelsea was unthinkable. Having gone home specially for the match, it was therefore not a pleasant experience on the terrace at Castlereagh Park as, shall we say a 'lacklustre' Bangor conceded early in the first half, mysteriously skewed several reasonable shooting opportunities well wide (just in case) and went on to miss more than a few tackles in conceding again (just to make sure) from the second-half restart, although we did applaud both goals in a sportsmanlike and only slightly ironic fashion (most of us were busy with radios tuned to Radio Ulster listening to how the other game was going).
As it turned out, Coleraine really blew it by only drawing their last game 0-0 against Ballymena Utd, and other results meant that Ards jumped from 7th to 4th place while Coleraine dropped from 6th to 7th; Bangor's league position remained unchanged at 11th.
The result of which was the accumulated league positions over two seasons were (remember, the lower the better) Ards:10, Bangor:16, Coleraine:17.
Coleraine were relegated to the First Division, and Bangor promoted to the Premier Division...

Presumably a the holding player. Worth a go to see how he does. We need options in that position and he won't get a harder test than Spain so a good performance tomorrow could bode well going forward.

Re: Homepage
Fisher, he is a natural centre back. He can do a job in midfield against lesser teams, but against the likes of Xavi and Iniesta?
Im still wondering why Micah Richards isnt in the squad, he has been the best right back in the league so far.

Agreed on Richards, miles better than Johnson and Walker.
Yeah i see your point Jimbo but hopefully it will be alongisde Parker. With 2 defensive mids in ther we may stand a chance of being beaten less than 3-0. I think Jones could potentially be better in mdifield than in CB. I guess that means Cahill and Jagielka/Lescott in CB though. Not sure about that....

I think Richards has played well, not a million miles better than Walker who's also had an excellent season so far. Think Richards should have had the place of Johnson for sure.

Wasn't pleased at all.
Complete inability to keep the ball. Complete tendancy to boot it as far away asd possible. Complete lack of touch and technique.
But hey, we defended well, and tried hard....

I thought we were good at what we set out to do, and defending very well. Yes it wasnt pretty but it doesnt have to be. I think we need to be more like that against those kind of opposition. Expect to see something different against Sweden though, much more attack minded and hopefully 2 or 3 goals.

Re: Homepage
I can understand both your points actually.
Technically, England lacked that with the personnel they have.
However, best tactic to beat Spain is counter as very few teams can match them in midfield.
Parker's last ditch tackle was brilliant

Scott Parker was awesome. Defensively as a whole, I was impressed.
I think in terms of attacking, no Young, Gerrard or Rooney. I also think Walcott shouldn't be seen in an England shirt for a few years either. Really don't get what people see in him.

I think Walcott could be a good impact sub but my first choice wingers would be Adam Johnson and Young probably. Maybe Milner?
Exactly Pav, we cant excatly go out and expect to out do Spain attack wise without those players, add Wilshere to that aswell. I was expecting us to get hammered, but the tactics were right and some of the performances defensively were very good.

Not a Wallcott fan either but his pace is scary.
Wallcott actually plays better when he doesnt have to think IMO
Is it just me that rates Adam Johnson quite highly.
I think he his awesome when I see him play. Takes people on, has a great left peg and can do this pass and move stuff too

Wingers is a position we have a lot of options in.
Milner has really come on of late, and for me is pretty much a starter now. His workrate is immense. Young is also a starter.
Thin Capello's ideal team is:
----------- Wilshere --- Parker -------------
Milner ----------- Gerrard ---------- A.Young
----------------- Rooney -----------------
Wellbeck played really, really well. Expect him to be on the plane after that showing.

Afternoon lads.
Just got a wondering - have many people altered their predicting style for this game?
Reason I ask is that I've noticed people being a bit miffed with stars left on the bench. This happens reguarly in real life, and is a key factor to consider per the rules. Last week I left Higuain and Di Maria on the bench and this week Hodgey has left Kaka on the bench. Seems fair.
You chaps decide the results I'd be keen to know. If it doesn't matter I'll just play by strongest XI every week!

Noticed Suarez scored 4 for Uruguay this weekend, seemingly despite that the team performance from Uruguay was outstanding, have to see them as dark horses for the next World Cup

I think you potentially COULD get away with it. There's not much so far in predictions to suggest you wouldn't get away with it. I wouldn't like to try it though!
