606 Boxing vs 606V2 - who wins and why???
First topic message reminder :
Old 606
-------
Less moderation...however unruly posters tended to stay on longer......Had a mechanism for editing your own threads which came in handy...Took too long to get a response from moderators when someone was deliberately plagiarising your superb threads...
Not sure the moderators were knowledgeable enough......Layout was easy though..
606v2
------
Moderators can jump in hastily.......Idiots get expelled quicker though.....Moderators have a good knowledge of the sport.....Quicker to respond to your questions.......Tends to forcefeed advertising to you at times.....Layout probably not as precise as the old 606.....
Much better than the Eastside layout......
606v2 by decision...

What happened Shenglong? That boy wore his heart on his sleeve.
He got a retirement out of Trussy after only one day of effort. Myself and Dave were hammering away at Truss for years and Sheng draws a retirement in one day of trying.
Hacked Trussy account if I remember.

606v2 by KO6 for me. Much better now that blithering idiots in the form of davidemore (though funny at times) and the like aren't allowed to get away with some of the drivel we were subjected to on a regular basis.
We could do with another 20 or so posters in my view, to keep healthy debate ticking over and produce more unique articles, but we're doing ok.
Whilst we are on the subject of moderation, we might as well make this an open debate. Since the Primetime saga last time out when everything was up in the air for a few days, and bullets were flying from all angles, things do seem to have settled back down nicely. If any of you have complaints, suggestions, feedback about the moderation of myself, oxring and windy, and even Y I and Hobo too for that matter, then feel free to air those views here and we'll take it into account...no promises, though

The only problem I have is that if we seem to say something close to bad about Primetime it seems to be taken offensively by particular mods...

Re: 606 Boxing vs 606V2 - who wins and why???
You'll notice we have never removed any criticism of Primetime that is constructive. It is the posts that border on personal abuse toward their representative at 606v2 that we remove, as quite simply that isn't on.
PT have given 606v2 a lot, including several studio mentions on their live Mayweather Ortiz fight card throughout the night, in return for (admittedly) over-hyped articles, which has to be expected from a company trying to sell fights...hell we were even sold Haye Harrison as a legitimate battle of the ages for Britain. A lot of members were very scathing toward the poster, which is something we won't allow against PT or any regular member for that matter.
Hopefully that makes sense.

Re: 606 Boxing vs 606V2 - who wins and why???
There was a lot of negative comments but it did seem as though we couldn't say anything negative without the mods shouting us down.
Just the way it seemed from a member perspective.

Re: 606 Boxing vs 606V2 - who wins and why???
It was difficult at the time, alex, as we had to take into account that this particular forum was extremely volatile at that point. Any such comments could have been the spark that ignited it to all go up in flames again, so apologies if anything constructive was removed during that period, but hopefully you'll understand why it may have.
Re: 606 Boxing vs 606V2 - who wins and why???
Nah, to be honest I wasn't one of the people crying as I'm not too bothered if Primetime comes and makes a million articles on Manny- Marquez... I know I can choose whether or not to read them and comment on them.
Just I think it felt as though for the members that had been here for a while got a bit annoyed that the mods were choosing Primetime over them, because it seemed like the mods were caring about having Primetime on there side instead of the members.
Hopefully another situation doesn't arise like that, but I'm just saying that there is a chance that members feel that way again.

Re: 606 Boxing vs 606V2 - who wins and why???
I'd like to think that mods and members alike had learnt from the past disagreements, so we should be in a position where a) those with ill feeling toward PT ignore it and b) the mods don't get too one sided either. It's all about getting the right balance, and I believe we have found that now.
Re: 606 Boxing vs 606V2 - who wins and why???
In answer to the op, v2 wins for me.
I never really ventured away from the wrestling section on 606, but being Admin here I have got to know people from 606 that I wish I had got to know earlier. I feel it's more of a community here than on 606.
Also, because of being Admin its my job to keep an eye on all sections and because of that, sports I previously had no interest in I now enjoy and follow (including boxing) so v2 gets my vote.

I agree, think there is a much better balance between it all, to be honest it was probably for the best that everything got aired out like that to be honest. Even though it was anarchy in the short term.

Re: 606 Boxing vs 606V2 - who wins and why???
Never had the confidence to post on 606 but from everything I've seen and experienced of both, v2 is much much better. Like the lay-out, it's easy to use, admin/mod teams are (if a little draconian at times) friendly and approachable and most importantly of all they interact with the users. The fact that they are sourced from experienced posters improves the level of respect they get (see outcry when Windy almost left).
Yes, v2 has some good posters missing but the wummery clear-out pretty compensates for that. A few more members might well help freshen up the boards however there is a risk that the 'community fee' on v2 (which I think is great) can actually present a barrier potentially to new users - think 'outsiders moving into a new village'.

Re: 606 Boxing vs 606V2 - who wins and why???
I feel 606v2 lacks the same moral compass that was evident on BBC 606.
For example IJK's prediction thread was fair and rewarded those who correctly predicted certain fights. Unfortunately the UCPL, run by a tyrant, has failed to live up to this example. As Hopkins/Dawson gate shows it is very much a free for all lacking ryhme or reason.

Don't indulge him Union you're better than that. Your competition, your rules. Find it amazing how many people who did nothing but whine about the competition always re-enter every season.

I'm not indulging him, the only answer to my question can be Dawson TKO2, which is the result I used.
He incorrectly predicted a draw, so can have no qualms about not getting any points.
To be fair though he hasn't entered Season 3 yet. Perhaps he is on strike.

Agreed rouuley, but there is also the case that some people are consistently, and very vocally, supportive of the UCPL and get nothing but rudeness in return.
But on topic, it is clear that 606v2 is better than 606 because I never posted on the old forum.
Discussion over.

I reckon Tino was one of the infamous wums on the old 606, he just wanted a fresh start as a (slightly) more normal person here.

Fedor was a bit more pleasant than coxy and his foreign policies were liberal in comparison.
