606V2 BOXING on Twitter
Hiya Guys...
Been noticing alot of the other boards are getting their sports onto twitter. Thought this may be a good thing for one of the boxing moderators to look into. The wrestling & rugby board has managed to get some famous names to promote the 606v2 website...who knows we may get the likes of Haye & Mayweather dropping in from time to time.
Just an idea.! Let us know what you all think & whether anyone would be interested in doing it!

Owen - good idea and something we are setting up.
We want the admin/ mods to look after it to make sure we keep it on topic (how would it look if we only followed 1 person with the initials MP! )
Please follow us when we are live though - Windy will provide details shortly.

Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
Excellent idea, as a user of twitter myself it is always worth trying to get a 'retweet' from boxers such as Haye and Froch, and who knows they might just decide to drop by now and again. Probably a waste of time with Mayweather, as his main aim seems to be showing off how much money he has won on bets, and how many times him and Fiddy Cent have gone aboard a private jet.

Guys - I am after a favour from you all.
Yes this is an opportunity for some of you to get back in the admins good books (for at least 5 minutes anyway).
Could you all please vote on this thread - it will only take 2 minutes max.
As you know, we are trying to get new members through twitter and I know that the BBC is filming the new series of Dragons Den at the moment - I would like to tweet them the poll which hopefully they will retweet. Howver, it needs to look like lots of people have voted/ commented.
So even if you dont watch it, vote please for your top 2!
Thanks

Your name is in the bad books and is written in permanent marker (next to 's Manny)
Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
Good luck with it, but I personally avoid Tw@tter like the plague. Had a look once at a few boxers-Amir Khan talking about what he's eating and Mayweather talking about...well, cr*p...just didn't grab me.

Voted on your Dragon's Den poll even though I haven't got the foggiest idea what it's about.
I think John Murray should be invited to take a look at Shah67 over on 606

Have a look at the ' Pub ' thread while you're on, Dave.
Reckon it might be worth adding a couple of Shah's classic moments. Fancy digging a couple out ?

Will do it now. Definitely an idea to get the v2 site out there to the British boxers in particular that frequently use Twitter. It is a long shot but would be excellent if they visited the boards once in a while.
Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
Appreciate it, mate. No good asking me about it. My idea of ' Twitter ' only extends to the ' dawn chorus.'

Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
Ha, I'm not the most active of 'Tweeters' or whatever they are now known as, but enjoy reading the updates of the likes of Haye and Froch in particular. Khan and Mayweather generally spout garbage, so you have to take the rough with the smooth.
I've seen Haye say that he visits various boxing forums now and again, so it'd be interesting to see if he could add this one to his haunts!

Fists - just sorting a few things and will get back to you later.
With regards to the Dragons Den poll I asked you to post on, I tweeted it to Bannatyne, Theo and Peter Jones and.......
Peter Jones retweeted it to about 265,000 people!
We definitely need a rugby twitter - just finalising it. Please bear with me!

Just a quick announcement about twitter.
@606v2boxing is now live.
We asked two of the best posters on here to run it. But they said "no" so wwe asked Atom and Fists of Fury instead.
Please give them some support by following them and also letting them know of good people to follow.
Remember people that this is a official 606 twitter account, so dont get them to follow Jenna Jameson or someone like that!

Ha, the downright cheek!
Yeah we have got this up and running now, so any poll related articles that we could 'retweet' on to some of the boxers we are following would be ideal. Imagine it'll be pretty slow going to begin with, but providing we have enough quality articles to advertise from this site, things should pick up after a while.
Cheers
Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
Generally I think one of the boxers we follow will need to be included in it though to get their interest. Maybe a similar article regarding a more widely followed weight class would be ideal.

Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
My flyweight article?
It's difficult because there isn't a huge amount of top quality articles written about the modern guys, fairly biased of me to say but the best written stuff is all about the old timers which is all well and good but isn't going to be of much relevance to anyone on twitter.

Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
I dont think its necessarily off limits if they are not included (although it helps).
Most boxers will cite their favourites and wanting to be like their idols.
You might struggle with the flyweights (a division I know zip about) but if you did one on the best ever p4p British boxer, I am sure tweeteing to Benn, Eubank, Calzaghe, Lewis, Mcguigan, Collins etc would get their interest.

Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
Funny you should say that, as about 2mins ago I sent the very topic on p4p British ATG's to Lennox, letting him know he had been voted 2nd by our members.

dear god please do not tweet Floyd with any of D4's rantings. We'll all end up in court.

Fists, Ghosty.
I'm sure that you two fellas will do an excellent job. If Ali or Eder Jofre turn up for a tweet session, let me know.

Keep the faith, mate. Hobo was chatting with Jeremy Guscott, the other day so, while you might not get Ali or Jofre, you might yet bump into the odd high profile fighter.
Anyway, good luck to you and Fists.

Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
jus had a thought for a good tweet (and laugh) - you could set up a poll for worst dancer ever on Strictly Come Dancing - include a few sports people (inc Calzaghe).
I am sure Joe would finish top of the poll - tweet him and others like Enzo, Cleverley etc.
A bit of fun that might just work (set it up in the TV section though) - the dragons den one I did got retweeted to a couple of 100k people by Peter Jones!

Well guys, I've had my first success, Jimmy Lennon Jr retweeted my message of:
Hi Jimmy, new boxing forum up and running to replace old BBC606 thats closing. www.606v2.com/f11-boxing please RT
to 900 odd people that follow him, a decent start on day 1, wouldn't you say.

Oh and also a success with Wayne McCullough, who retweeted:
@WayneMcCullough morning Wayne, we are promoting our new forum 606v2.com/f11-boxing - very active boxing community, any chance of a retweet?
to his 6,515 followers.

Indeed mate, hopefully we can get a few more and start to grow our list of followers, or indeed website users.
Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
Good work fists. McCullough is a genuinely top bloke. He is on facebook and is absolutely prolific in posting on there and responding to fans. If a few more can follow suit can only help the forum.

Same with his twitter account, Jeff. He has tweeted something like 23,000 times I think, crazy.
Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
I noticed that Bellew tweeted back too. Good work - shame he was overweight!
Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
did he?? haven't seen that one, how do I view it! It doesn't show up in the 'my mentions' section, or the retweeted one.
Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
Whilst there are a few online now, will just use it as an opportunity to remind you that our boxing twitter page is up and running @606v2boxing. Follow us if you have an account, it'd be appreciated!
Re: 606V2 BOXING on Twitter
Tony Bellew tweeted us with his prediction for the upcoming bout against McKenzie:
@606v2boxing it's gonna be a good fight but a hard painful lesson in the art of boxing for Ovil McKenzie! I'm gonna leave the upsetter upset.
Seems like a good lad Bellew, very interactive with his fans on Twitter, seems to have a lot of time for them. Hopefully he wins this one and then the build up for a fight with Clev can begin - regardless of the outcome, don't you just love grudge matches?
