stewart was named by an indian bookie and delhi police of being involved with the bookie
he was asked to appear in Delhi for an investigation and give information to the dehli police which he refused to do
he was investigated by the ICC's anti-corruption unit and it was found the allegations were groundless and he was cleared
at no point was he ever charged with a crime by the dehli police or anyone else

Re: Match fixers that were punished....
so where does it say he was ever charged with anything
he was named by an indian bookie who was under investigation , he was never actually under investigation himself, there is a subtle difference
not alot of point even continuing this discussion with someone who twists what he calls facts to suit his own agenda

Back to topic.
I understand the point Drizzle is trying to make but I have absolutely NO sympathy for the players involved.
The vast majority of international cricketers (outside the test playing nations) actually playing make no money whatsoever. In fact in my experience as a player and coach, they are often asked to make significant sacrifices (paying for transport and/or accommodation and/or food; taking time off out of their holiday allowance; even having to take unpaid leave for some).
The point I am trying to make is that there is something called national pride which ought to play a part. You don't merely play cricket for the money, you do it also because you should feel proud and honoured to play for your country. If this isn't enough to try your best every single ball regardless of circumstances then you don't deserve that honour.
It is for this reason I struggle with the behaviour of others like Gayle and the England rugby team.

I assume Drizzle is meant to be me ?
Let me re-clarify, I also have absolutely no sympathy with the players in any way, the point(s) I have made are an attempt to give people who may not be aware of the structure of finances around international cricket and particularly the plight of Pakistan players which may give rise to their entering the world of corruption.
As for National pride I also agree with you, however it is worth pointing out that the international calendar has been and will continue to be amended to ensure IPL does not impact on any international series, or vice versa dependent on your viewpoint.
India, for example, have been happy to send second/third rate teams to 'compete' in overseas ODI tours when players have refused to miss the IPL, so whilst I appreciate National pride is something the vast majority of fans/amateur cricketers will focus on, the majority of professionals from all ICC countries have already forgone international engagements in favour of big paydays.
This will not be changing in the short term......

Sorry for misnaming you.
I disagree. A lot of players (mainly English and Australian) have refused lucrative IPL deals to best prepare for upcoming matches. There is such a thing as national pride even in the TV circuit. Some players seem to have more than others.
