ATP 1000 Paris Bercy 2011
First topic message reminder :
Here we are again...the last tournament of the year, the second indoor 1000 event, Paris Bercy 2011.
And just like in Shanghai, it seems it won't be complete with the best players around: as things stand Djokovic Murray and Federer are all playing, but few will be surprised to see Djokovic pull out in the light of Saturday's injury.
Nadal and Del Potro are also not playing, still, a strong field with Tsonga, Monfils etc promising good fun for tennis fans.
Assuming we have now only Federer and Murray left in the draw as number 1 and 2 seeds**, and that Murray doesn't have any "freak" night injuries, we still have plenty to look forward to in terms of tennis, especially as the surface of Paris Bercy seems to have been made faster*, giving us some really good matches and all-court tennis last year.
* ouch! the surface is back to "slow". According to Andy Murray.
** double ouch! Novak IS playing
The draw:

Order of play for the final, Sunday, 13th of November 2011:
http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2011/352/op.pdf
With only a few spots left for World Tour Masters year end event in London, it will be interesting to see how things unfold.

Federer made Gasquet also look an amateur. . Monaco may be worse, based on the USO 2011.

BREAKING NEWS
Djokovic has pulled out of Bercy, saying his shoulder got worse after yesterday's match. Article (in French) here. His shoulder seemed OK yesterday but obviously he's worried about it getting worse, so has taken the sensible option of pulling out to avoid that happening.

I don't think anyone can critcise that - he's done what he had to on Court, more than what he had to, and he's got to look after himself. Nice that he's avoided an unnecessary defeat too.

It is a shame he has had to pull out. All the same I am glad he has so he can avoid potential further injury.

Shame
I was looking forward to today's clash.
Other than Rafa and Fed, I'm not sure how many players still have a positive h2h vs Djoker ...... but JWT is one of them
That said, it wouldn't have been the most stringent examination for JWT if Djoker came to court hampered by injury
It makes sense for him to try and get in best possible shape for London

Re: ATP 1000 Paris Bercy 2011
now before we all lay into our friend JM, I think he has a point. Nole IMO turned up in Paris mostly for the bonus. HOWEVER, there's nothing wrong with that at all for me, and he also wanted to see how the shoulder felt. No doubt it felt better than he expected in R1, so he carried on, but after a long match yesterday it wasn't so good anymore, hence the sensible decision to pull out.

OMG the conditions are so slow..
In that last point, Berdy had to hit 4 winners for one point.

This is turning out to be a classic. Shame I can't watch it live.
The only one who is is TMF, nearly certain he'll find the winner a worn-out force in the semifinal.

Re: ATP 1000 Paris Bercy 2011
Credit to Thomas Berdych who wins 4-6 7-6 6-4. He played some great stuff to seal the win. Not too fussed as a defeat had to comer sooner or later for Andy after almost two months unbeaten. Hopefully he can rest those niggles and turn up stronger for the WTF. No doubt Federer loved that gruelling match and things really opening up for him in the tournament now.

Great match - well done Berdych on not choking it away at the end there, even if his forehand was a bit wayward at times! Not sure this was a great result for Federer - he always struggles against Berdych.

Berdych is helped by his tall size like Sod and Delpo. Gasquet has much quicker hands.
It's more shanky than TMF today but just managed to get back on serve.

If you are going to wum at least get your facts right it was 4 break points out of 31. Not good I agree but if you watched the match very few of these were because of UE's. It was mainly because the server played a good point.
