Re: Quiz Questions
Squash - No
One has a French name. I presume it originated near the border with Spain... similar to that Jai alai game they play in Florida
Another one - you need a good strong piece of rope.
Stop press: Jeu de Paume = Real Tennis so you were spot on PJ.
So still 6 down ... 2 to go. (excluding Rackets)

How very dare you sir! What I do in my own time is entirely my own business!
Now, back to the question. I believe it's tug-of-war?
I'd love to know what the others are.

Re: Quiz Questions
Tug of war is one, and I'm sure I've seen footage from an early (Modern) Olympic Games of the athletes jumping through barrels.
Oh, and I think there used to be a competition to see who could glide the furthest off one stroke in the pool.

yep, Tug-of War and Softball. Also baseball and a few others.
The barrel one and the longest swim-glide sounds pretty cool, Lucky.
Whoever wants to post the next question.... go for it!

Re: Quiz Questions
They're fairly English sounding names, although they were a German Jewish family. The brothers were all born in New York.
Harpo's name was later that of a (in)famous German.

Did you edit that post I'm sure I didn't see Adolph in there before!
Yes, Harpo was Adolph, which was shortened to Ahdie, then Artie, then became Arthur - long before anyone had heard of Hitler.

No it was there.
So the others...
Chico - ?
Zeppo - ?
Gummo - ?
(I heard a sound bite of Harpo talking for a few seconds. Is it true he had a few lines in one the the early movies... but it's often overlooked?)

There's a sound clip of him talking off-stage before coming on in character on a talk show. And a few short clips of him recording his memoirs.
He never spoke in the films, but there's speculation he joined in a four-part harmony whilst they were hiding in barrels in Monkey Business.

Sorry Julius. I've been busy.
Well, there's Harrison Ford of course and River Phoenix as a young Indiana Jones. There's a few more though whose names escape me just now.
So at least 3 or 4... maybe more?

Re: Quiz Questions
Seeing Gibbo is celebrating Holland and Ireland's Gold medal performances, I'll jump in with a quickie...
What was the initial/original name of the sex-pot dance troupe "Hills Angles" from the Benny Hill Show?
Extra points if you can name 3 of the regulars dancers. Gibbo will get this one I'm sure.

Was it Love Machine? And I seem to remember Sue Upton was one of them.
There was another tall burd in it, who starred in soft-porn horror movies and ting. Cant remember her name but she was hot.

Re: Quiz Questions
Correct Gibbo - Love Machine. Sue Upton was one...
There were a few more Sue's ...
1. Sue _ _ _ _ (surname is mentioned somewhere below) and had a part in the 1986 Mind Your Language remake.
2. Sue _ _ _ _ _ (think of part of name of 2001: A Space Odyssey author)
3. Sue Mc_ _ _ _ _ _ (as in it's not a load of....)
4. One also appeared with such comedians as Morecambe and Wise, Dick Emery, Spike Milligan (in his Q series), Frankie Howerd, Tommy Cooper.
5. One was one of the first ever Page 3 girls. (first name similar to a small red fruit... but slightly different spelling)
6. One has a very British surname and appeared in Oliver! with British actor Ron Moody and later worked for the Beeb.
7. One moved to the United States, where she performed in small roles until she secured a recurring part in the television sitcoms Murphy Brown and even more success in Frasier. Correct Kenny: Jane Leeves
8. One had appearances with Mike & Bernie Winters, Frankie Howerd, Des O'Connor and Jimmy Tarbuck; such television programs as Bless This House, Bachelor Father, Father, Dear Father and Tales of the Unexpected and a part the 1973 film version of Love Thy Neighbour... she has beautiful surname!
9. Another one had film appearances in The Prisoner, Call My Bluff and The Golden Shot and an uncredited role as Professor Dent's secretary in the first James Bond film, Dr No. On radio, she was a regular on the BBC World Service programme Animal, Vegetable and Mineral.
Does any of that help?
