Now that it is getting tight at the top and close to the finish I am not going to post any leaderboard updates to avoid the temptation of a magic pencil.

merc, you're lucky it's not 1/2 allowance - thats what we play at our club for eclectics of 6 or more rounds!

Re: Tell us about your 'Eclectic' game today...
poor round for me yesterday. was playing in a 4bbb tie, which was a little distracting from an eclectic point of view, and heaped a bit more pressure on the good birdie chances i had. only improved by 3 strokes (all pars). our greens have really dropped in standard since tuesday - just about impossible to hole anything more than about 3 feet as there were so many bobbles. missed a 4 footer for birdie on 1, a 3 footer for birdie on 4, a 4 footer on 5, a 12 footer on 10, a five footer on 13, a ten footers on 15, 17 and 18. at least i'm making plenty of chances, but its bloomin frustrating not feeling you've a chance to hole any of them cause the greens are so crap. all the footprints around the hole don't help either... not to mention all the three putts from longer range - i hit 14 GIR, and was +5 for those holes

MPB sorry didn't notice your question but glad to have answered it.
Merc, sorry all entry fees are non refundable and will be used to keep me in a manner to which I have been unaccustomed to.
B_B, unlucky mate, I know what you mean about poor greens. I three putted last week from 4 feet! Birdie became bogey and the air became blue I also find it difficult to play two formats at the same time as one always suffers.

Still not great today, but an improvement of 19 shots on eclectic score today, Should give an indication of how bad last week was.
too many 3 putts (5 on back nine) and a few duffed chips still costing me two many shots.
On an up note thats 9 (i think) good eclectic holes, so half way

Re: Tell us about your 'Eclectic' game today...
One word sums it up today. And the word is pish!
Hitting the ball beautifully in the nets then spent 10 mins on the putting green. Walked to the 1st tee and I'd completely stiffened up down my left side and couldn't turn at all. Spent 18 holes throwing my hands at the ball and nobbing it round. Must have tweaked something in the nets.
So annoying, was hitting it really well on Friday and at the range yesterday. I reckon a soak in a hot bath should sort it out

I only used three clubs today so won't get DQ'd. They were my nobbling wood, my nobbling iron and specialist 'leave everything on the lip' putter

Got to my course today and it didna look that promising Mistier than a cinema-full of women watching 'Titanic' and more cluttered than their handbags. Four-ball de hell on the first and clock ticking. Met up with a 3-ball on 10th and had a storming back 9, knocking 8 shots off my eclectic score and could have been sooooo much better if the flat-stick was hotter. Greens a bit bobbly tbh. Knocked a further shot off on front 9, totalling 9 shot improvement in all (actually shot 42 on each 9 which I was pretty chuffed with, especially as the 7th, 8th and 9th were played in thick murky, darkness. Weather improves! Played in shirt sleeves last 2 days doesn't get any better than that. Indeed its a marathon but every long distance race needs a pacesetter!
I'm looking to get 4 rounds pre xmas and 4 rounds post xmas! Well that's the plan long as the weather holds in january and February

Re: Tell us about your 'Eclectic' game today...
Played yesterday in my second eclectic round and also the first game of our winter league. Gees, i was terrible!
We were due to start at 8 but couldn't tee off until 9.30 as we had to wait for the fog to lift. Waiting around gives me the right hump so that wasn't the best start!
I began quite well. My partner hit his tee shot on the first OOB ha ha, and i managed to hold us together to go half, loss, half, half, win to be all square after 5 - all my score contributing. But thereafter i was a mess. Not sure what changed but i couldn't chip, couldn't drive. My irons and putting were holding together until around the 12th when i my irons packed up for the day too.
From there on i was firmly on my mate's back who thankfully had got himself together, and i only came alive again on the 18th to hole a 2 foot putt for bogey which won the hole (!) and a 1 up win for the match. Phew!
I'll PM the scores Grump but i don't think it will improve me much!

Re: Tell us about your 'Eclectic' game today...
Second Eclectic yesterday as part of our Winter League and, I have to say, I was hitting the ball out of sight. Literally - I don't recall seeing a single shot land all day. Very misty/foggy and only began to clear as we were putting clubs away. Typical.
That said, played very solid golf for level par (won our match 5&3 as well) so a good day. Maybe concentrated better knowing would be difficult to find a ball when hit offline! Will PM scores Grumpster.

Had to postpone my second round yesterday due to ongoing bout of man-flu. I'd struggled (unwisely) through Saturday and hoped to be feeling better by Sunday but it wasn't to be. Think I'd have struggled to walk to the first tee!
On the mend now though hopefully (I've struggled into work anyway) - looking to play second round with big improvements next Saturday

Scored a couple of birdies on stroke holes, so nett eagles.
The second one on the 17th, my putt nearly took the hole with it. Lucky the hole got in the way.

Played my second round in the fog yesterday and actually played well in-spite of or maybe because of not being able to see the flags!
Birdied the second, and made another couple of improvements but I fear it's not going to be enough if Midget Mav has already birdied at least 11 of his 18.
I've emailed you the scores Grumpy.

More scores received and there have been some big moves. 13 players under par now and Mav's lead has been cut to 3 with a host of other players a shot further back.
Will post updated leaderboard from PC or laptop later today. Typing on poxy iPhone keyboard bit difficult and have already had to correct many words to get rid of gibberish.

No need for the personal insult "midget Mav" was there but I guess your just bitter hibbz as you always come across when posting about me. I'll await a retort slating my grammar or spelling "shortly".
Played my 3rd round today and should have stayed bed in all honesty, think I've over golfed myself playing 3days in a row. Couldn't really get going today even the trusty 3wood was not playing ball, so ended up using the 2hybrid for tee shots.
Don't thinkimproved any holes on my eclectic score today, shot a round of 1over par 72.
So at least that gives the bitter hibbz a chance

Mav, got your next round. I forgot it's the clown's mouth that giving you all the trouble.
JDandfries. It's not too late for the defending bandit , sorry I mean champ to enter. If you read back I've told Raycastleunited what to do. The rules thread is on page 2 now. I'll PM you my email.
Can't accept this weekends round as you weren't an official competitor and you are well aware that this is no tinpot competition

That's not only insulting to MAV, but actually quite negative. Eclectics always play into the hands of the higher handicappers - the more birdies we get, the more eagles they've got to get....

That's what I thought too D4S. I know there's been a little history between Hibbz and Mav but I didn't think anything bad about that comment (although I know Mav is no big fan of Midget Mac either)

In all honesty had it been another poster where there is no insulting history, then i'd have let it slide but hey ho...
Well the round was not as pointless as it seemed then if that gives me 4shots advantage.

Mav's early marker spurred some folks into action and his lead was cut down to 3 but adding another round today saw him extend his lead by another shot.
Some fighting talk has broken out with NST setting his sights firmly on Mav; NST has let his clubs do the talking at the moment but will that remain? Or will other challengers ride the leaderboard to glory?

Shame my first round is to be discounted, wasnt a great round, holed nothing, except a full 52 for my second at a par 4 - shame that is unlikely to be happening again soon!!
Mav, beware, after a few weeks of getting used to being a father, my game may well be back, and my title defended!!
First (official) round, this saturday, weather permitting

Grumpy - i've added your current leaderboard to the OP - let me know if you'd rather i took it off - but thought it might be good to have it on top of the thread? Perhaps Navy or a.n.other mod/admin could give you the 'rights' to access the OP so you can edit it yourself whenever you like? Alternatively i'm happy to update it whenever you do the updates if thats easier.

I can't adjust access permissions like that...as far as I know.ban_bam wrote:Grumpy - i've added your current leaderboard to the OP - let me know if you'd rather i took it off - but thought it might be good to have it on top of the thread? Perhaps Navy or a.n.other mod/admin could give you the 'rights' to access the OP so you can edit it yourself whenever you like? Alternatively i'm happy to update it whenever you do the updates if thats easier.
cheers,

No probs - will do, providing Grumps approves.

Re: Tell us about your 'Eclectic' game today...
Been reading sporadically the last couple if days and not really been able to post. At work today with probably (hopefully) no work today so will be able to catch up with eclectic admin work and chucking me two cents in elsewhere.
B_b. Love the idea of having leaderboard up top. Want me to email, PM or post for a cut and paste job?
Hend, got your emails but couldn't reply; got an undeliverable message back. Will update, maybe you will get posted to the leaderboard after this weekend.

Looking to start this grumps, not sure when playing my 1st round (hopefully next saturday (a week tomorrow) weather permitting. Looks like I've got a bit of catching up to do although I should be able to get 8 rounds in before the end of March!
Will PM you details of my course.

Still hoping to get round 2 in tomorrow, 1GG. It's a 4BBB Stableford so may be a few NRs in there where I'm picking up but hopefully will still improve on my disasterous round 1!
