What score margin do you predict?
Ireland v Wales score prediction?
First topic message reminder :
What does everyone think the score will be when Ireland host Wales at the Aviva in just over 3 weeks time?
Wales have won twice in a row against Ireland which was quite frankly a miracle and hasn't happened since 1574. Ireland will do anything not to lose 3 in a row.
Wales struggle with expectation and everyone talking about them retaining their world cup form is going to be a hindrance rather than a positive. The 2010 match in Croke Park was one of the worst Welsh performances in recent years and think we could be in for a repeat.
Ireland 35-14 Wales

Harry's Game (Clannad) sang entirely in Irish made the Top 5 in the English charts.
Clannad were also responsible for the theme of Robin Hood etc.
And talking about Ulster bands/women - what about Enya - has sold 75 million records and the No. 1 "new age' artist of the 2000's according to Billboard* Just 2nd to U2 as a musical exporter.

Stylistically, two quite different sides, but ability-wise - there is just so little in it that it's infuriating trying to divide them into scores.
Wales could be at the beginning of a few years of dominance over the Irish. They might have really worked us out to the extent that it doesn't really matter how Kidney and co reacts to New Zealand. I think if Wales win this convincingly then that's the case. There's just no answer to them in the cabinet for a year or two.
But ... if Ireland win raggedly, there is still hope that we might lift ourselves out of the muddle we seem to be in for the last few years. Ireland are slow starters, even when they are in good form - so a 'just win' mightn't be all so bad.
Ireland 31 - Wales 26
A 3-year old child could work us out. How do you think Gatland shafted Kidney with so much ease?
And Gatland is no genius either.

I'm a good deal older than 3 and I'm still bamboozled.
But yeah, maybe the kindergarteners know the deal...maybe they're all laughing at us doubters and saying in the jibberish tongue they use: "Idiots. Wait until they catch the vertical half-cross swallow loop with symetrical spin. Then they'll know what was in Declan's heart. Then they'll know...Everything!"

Unfortunately, I have to entirely agree with Gibson. We have such a basic/outdated game plan. We will never reach our full potential if Kidney doesn't think outside the (munster orientated) box.

I have a feeling that the girl from Clanard's sister was the one in Enya...

One of the best bands to ever come from Ireland, yet so unheard of compared to the likes of U2 etc - My Bloody Valentine. Inventors of the shoegaze genre, if you haven't heard them, please listen to their album Loveless which is one of the best albums to ever be created

I think that John Field, one of Chopins contemporary's, or even influences, certainly an originators of the Piano Nocturne, was also Irish. He genuinely is a master classical composer.

I mentioned earlier that is it likely that the Beatles, a little known liverpool based pop band, were 3/4s Irish decent.
With the mention of Irish influenced hip/hop above made me think of the amount Americans of Irish decent famous in modern music.
Googling it I found there was quite a few. Here are a few of them.
Christina Aguilera
Jeff Buckley
Tim Buckley
Mariah Carey
Ken Casey
David Cassidy
Eva Cassidy
Kurt Cobain
Judy Collins
Harry Connick, Jr.
Alice Cooper (Vincent Furnier)
Bing Crosby
David Crosby
John Denver
Flea (Red Hot Chilli Peppers bass player)
John Fogerty
Jerry Garcia
Huey Lewis
Don McLean
Barry Manilow
Liza Minnelli
Jim Morrison (The Doors)
Pink (Alecia Moore)
Iggy Pop (James Newell)
Bruce Springsteen
Gwen Stefani

Amen to that Milk. Peel was a visionary. Copied by so many. Jools Holland being one.
Maesteg. "He had a musical fetish"
Old Grey Whistle Test and Whispering Bob Harris played their parts too.

Old Grey Whistle Test. The memories. I remember often watching it in a household of young twentysomething hippies - cousins of mine (I was much younger!!!) But I always felt soooo cool, baby. And surprised myself that I actually dug some of the vibes they were wafting in between the weed and the cords.

The John Player Blues.
Love it.
Ran out of fags at 2 in the morning and turned it into musical pain yeah? You genius.
Wish I could do that. Play it out of my system. I just go frantic and try to find an emergency spliff I hid when I was last stoned.
After an hour or so, I remember I've smoked it during another emergency. Not good.
Must be great to have natural talent. And a memory.
