Tactics
High intensity and physical, forward orientated game.
Look to our forwards to carry hard and get us onto the front foot where we can bring our strike runners into the game.
Our big centers will suck in Exeter defenders and create space elsewhere for us to exploit.
Look to dominate the collision area and get over the gain line.
Jones to kick in behind Exeter wingers to keep them pinned back in their own half where we can pressurise them.

16. Scott Lawson 17. Max Lahiff 18. Phil Swainston 19. Graham Kitchener 20. Luke Narraway 21. Francois Hougaard 22. Nevin Spence 23. Patric Lambie
Tactics
Our generic gameplan revolves around a high intensity attacking and defensive game.
In attack our primary gameplan is always to control possession and run the ball, utilising big carriers attacking gaps in the line, and looking to offload to support runners to continue getting over the gainline and keep the ball alive. If the offload is not on, we will take the contact and look to recycle quickly at the breakdown. If running the ball is not on we will uitilise the kicking game of one of our backs to take us into the right area of the pitch.
In defence we will look to blitz, with our scrum half sweeping behind the defensive line. Key for us is line speed, getting up to make the tackle before the ball carrier hits the gainline, and confidence and trust in the man next to you in the defensive line, meaning we will not jump out or get pulled to far away from the next defender leaving gaps that can be exploited.
At the breakdown, we will not overcommit players. If the ball is not there to be won, then we will commit 1 or 2 players to legally slow it down whilst maintaining a strong defensive line across the pitch. If the ball looks like it is there to be won, we will look to get more numbers there quickly, with the first 1 or 2 players immediately rucking past the ball to clear the opposition players who are trying to get hands on it, and the next man in will then look to get it out quickly for us to counter attack on turnover ball.
We will look to really attack the scrum, both in attack and defence. We will not be looking to drop the scrum at all, and Thierry Dusautoir in his role as captain will be talking to the referee constantly to ensure that he is aware that we want to scrummage. We will look to be aggressive in this area throughout.

Tactics:
* strong forward orientated game with a strong scrum and will look to attack the Bath scrum. We Willnusenthe line out as a platform to attack Bath with Albecete, Lawes, Wiliams and Parisse all options. Will look for quick off the top ball to release our backs.
* very strong defensive team, picked Lawes and Qera in backrow to knock Bath ball runners down before they get a head of steam.
* Strong at breakdown and will target this area in a similar vein to how Leinser/Munster do - hitting them at pace and clearing people out the way. Have Mike Phillips and Manu Tuilagi who can add to this.
* Look to dictate tempo of the game through the pack and be more physical than Bath - control ball, work through phases and then attack at pace with the backs - Giteau and fofana combination will be very good. All back three are on top form and Daly has been nailing some wonder tries of late! Can score from anywhere and will attack Bath at every opportunity.
* target attacks at two points Hodgson's channel with big ball carriers to get us order the gain line and then target Anthiny Allen who isn't a natural 13 and could be prone to defensive lapses with fast attacks.
* keep scoreboard ticking over and have Daly to take shots at goal from 45metres + out

16. Tom Lindsay 17. Owen Franks 18. Boris Stankovich 19. Ed Slater 20. Guy Mercer 21. Jonny Arr 22. Nick Evans 23. Adam Ashley-Cooper
Tactics
- Fast, intense, attacking rugby
- Use set piece as a platform to unlease backline
- Target breakdown and Pretorious to attack with turnover ball, Brussow/Hore/Brown to slow Sale attacks
- Big carries from Thorn/Brown/Faletau to draw in Sale defence and create gaps for JOC
- JOC to rotate as 1st reciever with Flood and give 2nd playmaking option
- Steyn to come into the line and target Sale 10/12 channel with physical threat
Sale Sharks
Manager – SJE
16. Imolek 17. Sharman 18. Kruger 19. Jones 20. Kvesic 21. Bezy 22. Goode 23. Earls
General Game Plan
On attack, we will look to control possession with our strong carrying game. We will look to our big carriers to get over the gain line and where possible offload to support runners breaking the defensive line and keeping our forward momentum going. If running the ball is not on we will look to the boots of Spencer, Cruden and Barkley to put us in the right areas.
On defence, we will use a blitz defence coming up at pace looking to isolate the ball carrier before he gets to the gain line stopping any momentum and allowing us to hit the breakdown hard. Spencer will act as a sweeper to cover any grubbers behind the line while our back three will sit deep ready to run back any loose kicks.
At the breakdown, if the ball looks available we will look to seriously commit numbers to clear the ruck allowing POM and Todd to come in and secure us turnover ball. At all other times we will commit 1 or 2 to the breakdown and look to counter ruck legally slowing down Falcons ball allowing our defensive line more time to set.
At scrum time we will look to hold the bind up and get the ball straight out to Palu at the back of the scrum. With 5 jumping options and a reliable thrower at hook we will look to attack from the lineout. We will look to mix things up bringing the ball down into the maul or playing the ball of the top and spreading it through the backs.

Forwards to disrupt on opposition ball and make the ball available to opposition slow. Aim to put in big hits around the breakdown where carriers will be static.
Very strong scrummaging front row is backed up by a big second row. Aim to put in big pressure hear. Fearns, Henry and Wallace all very competent at breakdown and will look to hurt opposition hear.

Tactics
- Game is built around our powerful setpiece, intelligent midfield and flying back three. We will use the scrum and lineout as weapons.
- Attack the lineout as much as we can using the tactical kicking of Yachvili and James. Croft to be our banker ball, but we will also use Joubert, Manoa and Pape.
- Call for scrums when we can if we are getting the advantage we expect to. Joubert to look to control from the base.
- Look to Joubert, Manoa, Pape, Everard, Sheridan, Moore and Croft to give us real go-forward with their carrying.
- Use Tuilagi/Manoa off the shoulder of the half back's crashing down the 10/12 channel.
- Everard is the man charged with reaching the breakdown first, securing first phase possession for us and pilfering the possession of Quins. We will always look to attack quickly off turnover ball.
- Yachvili and James are given license to play the game as they see it. We do ask that they use our lineout ability to put pressure on Quins, so a kicking game will be employed, but if they see an opportunity to attack out wide - that is their call.
- Our back three are encouraged to do what they do best - counter attacking and running the ball back. All have good boots to rely on if it isn't on or they are isolated, but the counter is what we ask them to look for.
- Early on Yachvili to kick all penalites within range, but we won't necessarily go for the 3 points as the game progresses. O'Driscoll to make the call dependant on the success of the lineout.

We will look for domination upfront to allow our backs to run in the tries. We will look to turn over ball as much as possible and get over the gain line frequently to put Scarlets on the back foot.
Morgan will play what is infront of him and look for sniping runs and to get Basson, Yarde and Watson in space.
Morgan to kick all pens for goal and go for touch if out of range. Pienaar and Hernandez on in 2nd half to control proceedings and see the game out

Tactics
- 10 wins in 11 games have left us with great momentum and feeling confident. With one of these wins over the opposition, away from home, we feel we have a huge psychological edge.
- We feel we can really get an advantage at scrum time with Healy and Murray looking to get a strong hit in. If we experience success in the scrum we will look to take that option
- Our backrow is one filled with carriers who we feel can really get over the gain line and make good yards. In Skinner we have a player who can cause real problems at the breakdown and we will look to slow Saints ball down by getting numbers down.
- Look to put pressure on Giteau who is not the same player he once was.
- FDP will be looking to put pressure on Saints with his box kicking abilities. He will look to put the ball in behind the bath wingers. Unless we experience real success we will only use this seldomly. JMF Lobbe will lead the chase.
- Our back five are deadly with the ball and we will really look to get them involved. North, Rougerie, Allen and Mermoz will all be used to make good yards with their runs. We will look to get Medard into one on one opportunities as we feel he has the beating of most players in the world.
- Our bench can really add to our team in the second half. We have strong scrummagers, good carriers and players capable of magic.

We have picked a powerful team full of experienced internationals and hungry youth players to steam roll the Scarlets. They are missing a bag ful of first teamers including the spine of their team in Rees, Morgan, Shingler, Priestland, Jones.

Tactics
Use experienced and powerful pack to secure set piece ball and then unleash backs. Young exciting half backs and centres to feed the experienced finishers outwide.
Quick tempo key to our game with forwards carrying hard and punching holes and getting us quick ball to send wide.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 3
Guys as international players are away with their international teams etc, does this mean that they are now unavailable for selection?
Also last year or the year before last was there a rule where you had to have 'x' number of players under 23 or something in this cup or am i confused with another competition we ran?

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 3
Leicester Tigers have named their side to play Quins this week.
Tigers manager LukeLovesLuka continues to rotate his squad, as he names a completely different XV for the second week running.
Tigers are a side in some seriuos form, having won 10 of their last 11 games, and the side named to play Quins at the Stoop suggests they are intent on keeping that run going.

16. Gethin Jenkins 17. Lee Mears 18. Johnny Harris 19. Tom Denton 20. Jordan Crane 21. Chris Cusiter 22. Dave Walder 23. Casey Laulala

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 3
I know that, all I'm saying is that so far I have played Quins and Newcastle who are in the same group as Cardiff Blues. So I assumed I would be playing them this week. Scarlets are in my pool and so far I have played no teams in my pool.
Gloucester have played Sale and Leicester so far who are in my pool not theirs, and are now playing Scarlets who are in their group.
I thought I played all the teams from that pool and not any from my own pool.
I may be wrong.

It's the pool tables on here that are wrong. Scarlets should be in pool 3 and the Blues in pool 2.

Saracens make 13 changes to the matchday 23 that beat Treviso last week.

Manager Dammit Chris
Subs: 16. Mike Haywood 17. Matt Stevens 18. Thomas Domingo 19. Dan Lydiate 20. Bradley Davies 21. Joe Simpson 22. Danny Cipriani 23. Matt Hopper

We have picked a powerful team full of experienced internationals and hungry youth players to steam roll the Scarlets. They are missing a bag ful of first teamers including the spine of their team in Rees, Morgan, Shingler, Priestland, Jones.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 3
London Wasps 15 - 17 Exeter Chiefs
Packs about even. Scrum will be a good contest with some powerful and experienced scrummagers. More creation in the Exeter backs and I don't think the Wasps crash ball will be particularly successful against to solid Exeter centres. Ngwenya the danger man for Wasps and a very astute signing.
Saracens 24 - 20 Worcester
Marginal scrum advantage to Saracens with Jones getting joy out of Flatman. I think Myall will take some ball off Saracens at the lineout and the 2nd row's will have a titanic clash with experience v youth. Dusatoir to have a some joy in the back row. Backs are fairly even across the board.
Bath 26 - 27 Northampton
Scrum to Saints just about and they have the better lineout as well. Lawes isn't a 6 and will count against Saints with a strong Bath back row. Packs just about go to Saints overall. Not much give in the backs at all with some world class players on show. This is a very tough game to call.
Newcastle 21 - 19 Sale
Scrum goes to Sale I think with looseheads even but Tialata stronger than Mitchell. Locks are also even as they are tough to separate. Back rows are even with the Sale back row is perfectly balanced. Half backs just to Newcastle but not much between them. Good game.
Scarlets 6 - 26 London Irish
Bit of a thrashing here. Scarlets missing a lot of good rugby players and it costs them. Good Irish side with some good young players involved.
Gloucester 32 - 3 Cardiff Blues
Same story. Blues severely weakened and its cost them big time.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 3
London Wasps 15-20 Exeter Chiefs
Good even scrum battle but theres a bit more to the Chiefs side in the back 5 of the pack and they should get on top in the forwards and with some good form and a bit nore spark in the backs should win this one.
Saracens 23-18 Worcester Warriors
Sarries with an edge throughout the pack should see more of the ball here. Backlines are tight with Worcester stronger in midfield but Sarries in the back 3. Sarries halfbacks will do more with the ball they get though and should take this one.
Bath Rugby 28-21 Northampton Saints
Fairly even pack battle here. Bath with the stronger halfbacks and a very dangerous back 3. Saints midfield will see a lot of ball but Bath at home with th stronger halfbacks should see this one through.
Harlequins 14-16 Leicester Tigers
Very strong Tigers outfit on show should get an edge at scrum time and at the breakdown. Youth v Experience somewhat in the backs but Tigers should take this one with the pack on show and Yach pulling the strings
Scarlets 9-26 London Irish
Way too much on show from Irish here in key positions and they should see a comfortable day in Wales
Gloucester Rugby 34-12 Cardiff Blues
Same as Irish game.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 3
Wasps 22-24 Exeter
Good game this one and some good match ups. Think Exeter have a little more physicallity in the pack and will give their halfbacks some good clean ball. Tight one but Exeter sneak through.
Saracens 25-21 Worcester
I think Sarries just have the edge in the pack and that will give them good front ball to attack with. Some form issues in both sides but Sarries are strong at home and come away with the win.
Bath 26-23 Northampton
Really tight game, scrum battle edges to Bath with Hayman's lack of form and lacking a bit of grunt in the engine room. Very strong lineout options for Saints though and they'll have joy here. I love Saints midfield but Bath's run them close and have the better halfbacks/back 3/bench on show to sneak it.
Harlequins 15-22 Leicester Tigers
Tigers front 5 are a class above and have some serious power to push Quins around. Close backrows and some real quality on show. Tigers backs a level up, not sure of Lowe at 12 and up against Yannick will struggle. Luke taking this a lot more seriously than Steve I think and they'll contol this.
Scarlets 12-28 Irish
Little early for Morgan to be thrown in but he'll get an armchair ride throughout.
Gloucester 55-6 Blues
i can't see anything but a total floor wiping here.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 3
Wasps v Exeter
- Close game, tight upfront. think the chiefs half backs is a good combo and could edge it for them. pisi and balshaw on good form in the back line.
20-22
Saracens v Worcester
- Sarries have mixed it up well, with youth and experience and class. Think they can get the upper hand upfront and allow Mapusua and Farrell front foot ball to thrive off.
25-21
Bath v Saints
- Both teams going in strong here. Class throughout. Cannot separate sorry.
28-28
Falcons v Sale
- Another top game here in the LV, tough to separate but at home think Falcons pack sneak it with a great backrow. Bit more class in falcons back line wins them the game.
25-22
Quins v Tigers
- Tigers have put out the stronger outfit and have more spark in their side. Quins youngsters will be looking to impress though and at home it will be tight.
15-17
Gloucester 69-3 Cardiff
- yep.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 3
Wasps 19 - 15 Exeter
Two teams setting their stalls up very similar, think Stephen Jones could well be the deciding factor here as both sets of packs very similar, would give the slight edge in dynamism to Wasps - but not sure how either team will get through the oppositions defence, espc the midfield. So its down to the boot and game management - exp of Jones edges it.
Saracens 27 - 23 Worcester
Very good sides put out by both, think Sarries edge it in terms of more threat in the backline. Cant quite see where that spark of magic will come from for Worcester to get tries, but very good pack will cause Sarries some problems.
Falcons 27 - 24 Sale
Tough to call, but the match day squad overall edges to Pooly and he's got some great subs to bring on and change the game. O'Connor is a special talent and playing him at 12 is going to cause a lot of teams a lot of problems, though not sure the balance is quite there yet in that back line, so will be close as SJE's team probably gel together more but lack the class of some of Pooly's players.
Quins 29 - 31 Tigers
Interesting one this - don't think Tigers will be that impressive at the breakdown, which gets this game close because I think if they had some better dark arts people they could have got a bigger win here, but a youthful and eager Quins team will up their game and I think actually get the upper hand at the breakdown because of the combinations. There is just a bit too much power in the pack and some very strong runners out wide for Tigers who are obviously taking this cup v seriously.
Gloucester 58 - 5 Cardiff
See any comments from Mat's team in Europe for explanation.
Scarlets 9 - 28 Irish
Too much power and Scarlets will get run ragged in second half.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 3
London Wasps 20 - 18 Exeter Chiefs
Massive battle up front. Slight edge to Wasps. Packs in general quite even, particularly back five. CHiefs take the HB's, but are hindered by Tindall. Nice back line from Wasps, Chiefs great form back three. Home advantage and slight set piece upperhand sees Wasps take this.
Saracens 25 - 19 Worcester
Scrum advantage to Sarries with Jones getting on top of Flatman. Back rows very tight, maybe just edge to Worcester with a nice unit. HB's to Sarries with the combo, but beyond there fairly even. At home Sarries have enough.
Bath 26 - 27 Northampton
Tight in the scrum, edge to Saints maybe but only just. Better second row as well, and real athletic back row. But Bath have some huge carriers. One apiece in the HB's, with Saints taking the centres and Bath the back three. I think Saints have picked a strong enough side to nick the win here.
Newcastle 25 - 20 Sale
Slight edge to Sale in the scrum. Locks are about even, but Newcastle's back row is very dangerous and gets the upperhand for me. HB's are really difficult to call, maybe edge to Newcastle. But behind that Newcastle the stronger for me. Comfortable in the end.
Scarlets 9 - 39 London Irish
Gloucester 47 - 6 Cardiff Blues
Last two terribly one-sided.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 3
Wasps 20–24 Exeter
Absolutely monster battle in the scrum. Think Exeter have a little bit extra in the back row and the backs. Both have good benches but feel that Exeter have more players who can close out the game.
Saracens 28-26 Warriors
Saracens have picked a beastly set of forwards and world class half backs which gives them the edge. Think Warriors stay in it with their grinding and their bench pulls it back near the end.
Newcastle 25–19 Sale
Think a key factor in this game will be Brussow. Think he will win a lot of ball for Newcastle who can use their backs to really dominate.
Quins 16-23 Tigers
Think Luke is taking this quite seriously and can really see them picking up quite a straight-forward win.
Scarlets 8-32 Irish
Irish coast this.
Gloucester 49-6 Cardiff
Gloucester coast this.
