But it is still open rodders and a tenner is nothing.
It is an impossible situation for the ticket office IMO and they choose the best path. They won't please everyone unfortunately that's all that is being said.

I accept that stand and have no complaints in this instance but I am disappointed of course.
But if what Geoff is saying is that that avenue may close then certainly I am not happy with that.
Its easy to generalise and say that season ticket holders are real fans and everyone else is an inferior bandwagon fan but in my experience there are certainly season ticket holders who don't know the players, don't understand the game and attend because it is a nice thing to do in Belfast on a Friday night and they have a disposable income, present company excepted of course.

Re: Munster v Ulster Easter Sunday ko 1.45pm
Firstly we are some way off all tickets going to ST (there are about 4000 of us) so no decision soon.
At a SF or Final it would not be a problem as we would have at least 12,000 tickets for either.
So effectively we are only talking about some QF's away.
However in that one instance I think it is perfectly reasonable for ST to get first chance of tickets.
As to ST holders. My experience is that the crowd is a knowledgable one.
The instance where you get 'socialites' attending is the HC games and they are unlikely to be ST holders.
You have to ask yourself what is the alternative

My advice if you want to get a chance of a QF ticket in the next few years - join the supporters club at the start of year.
To be honest, given its price, there is no excuse.

Munster are big province but cater for both the Cork and Limerick supporters. Perhaps Ulster need to look at this model for the long term.
How do you think Cork fans would feel if Munster played all their games at Thomond and only allowed STH's the opportunity to purchase away tickets to HEC games?

The Munster model works well but really it works as Cork is bigger than Limerick.
It would be similar to Ravenhill being in Derry City and the second stadium in Belfast.

I have to say Clive, and no harm to you, but if you got a ticket and I didn't (missed 2 home games in 8 years) I would be absolutely livid.
Congratulations on having more money than me...
Also, I havnt ever said i don't want ST holders to not get tickets, I've just said I don't want them to get tickets for their mates (or spouses who probably dont care).

Look this has gone off on a tangent that I didn't intend. I'm not bitter and regret not joining the supporters club when I had the chance. No complaints from me on prioritising STHs.
Good luck to anyone who is fortunate enough to go to this .

Fair play Rodders,
All Ulster fans who make the trip down - if you need hotel info, places to eat drink go in Limerick etc let me know and I'll be more than happy to meet up for a pint that weekend.

Yep. We should talk! Going to wait until I actually get the tickets before putting any plans into action though.

Clive I think you have missed a key point - Ulster supporters club members came in front of ST holders getting a 2nd ticket.
The annual outlay for that is 10 pounds.
Currently, and for the forseeable future, you do not have to be a ST holder to GUARANTEE yourself a ticket. That will only occur if we increase our number of ST holders substantially.

Clive,
If we only have 6,000 tickets how would you suggest we sell them?
And, I am a STH's spouse who, like you has watched the games on TV or listened with Gusher and gets to the matches when we can organise someone else to run the kids to their stuff and then mind them. I have been to about 3 or 4 matches this season as is the case most seasons.
I very very very much want to go to the match with my family.

A queue at the ticket office at 4am on say a tuesday morning should whittle out those who aren't THAT bothered from those that are......
I was not aware of this perc that comes with the supporters club, I will most certainly be signed up next year Geoff!
I know money makes the world go round, But you guys on here know that people like me follow the team a lott more than a fair majority of the ST holders. Just unfortunate I guess.
I just hope you lucky people shun the clueless ST holders, maybe even ridicule them... that would be appreciated!

In fact, I do not know anyone who has a ST and isn't a huge fan of the club.

Why?
You are no more ardent a fan than most of the little Ps!
You should see our youngest watching a match. Wow betide you if you make a sound while a kick is being taken even if the game is recorded!!

Clive- you buy a season ticket, you're guaranteed your place at every game. You don't and you take your chances. This is no different to any other game. Unfortunately there is a limited number of tickets.
If Ulster Rugby is a business, then they are looking after their customers first and foremost.

Ok, fair play, your kids sound great, but don't tell me its the norm for every child. Show me more respect than that. We all see them, daydreaming, slabbering to each other, staring into space, they hear a cheer and look around with no idea what happened. Its fine at regular matches, but A QF, most children attending will be a waste of a ticket...
Sorry, I'm aware i'm come across horrible, but surely you can see my frustration, at least a little bit?

I think you're being entirely unreasonable to be honest.
Last year it was the exact same situation, exact same arguments being thrown around, exact same no-ST holders were making the exact same points. So why didn't you join the URSC this year if you wanted tickets? It costs next to nothing. Last year, some sympathy but then why not learn from that?

Rugby has always had a family environment. Kids and spouses are perfectly entitled to be there.

I'm making a distinction between rugby in general and an important match with limited tickets. I don't hate kids. Dont be putting words in my mouth just cause i'm irritated.

Agree - as I said I find the ST holder to be, on the whole, a knowlegable bunch.
It is the blow ins who come just to the HC games who don't know their Chris Henry's from their Stefan Terblanche's andask what happened in 1999 that was important.

When did I say you hate kids. I am just saying that in an important match with limited tickets you are miles down the list because as far as Ulster are concerned you have not supported them as well as others have.
Re: Munster v Ulster Easter Sunday ko 1.45pm
But Clive,
You have said that you have more right to a Quarter final ticket than my son who has been to every home game, my daughter who has been to about 5 home games plus some U20s and Ravens matches and watched all the others, like you, on telly, just because you are older????

No, actually you have just chose to judge me as such. Because if you read over, you will see that I called for ST holders to not be allowed to purchase tickets for others, and I said it would be unfair for kids to go if they don't pay attention.
So I dont see how I gave the impression in any way that i was the only deserving fan.
Please tell me why a (non ST holder) wife of a ST holder is more deserving than me? Are they?
Please tell me why a child who dosn't pay attention is more deserving than me?
Come on, quite the witch hunt, and think impartially please.
I've only called for a fair crack at the whip outside of St holders (and supporters club).
I'm not a nasty person, honest!

I then followed that up by praising your kids and claiming that there would however be SOME with less concentration than yours. But even your kids, are not more deserving, nor am I, but equally...

Clive, Ulster don't want tickets going outside the ST holders and supporters club, why would they want that.
The fact is you didnt know the system and unfortunate as that is, had you paid a tenner it could have been avoided.
System isnt broken.

It would be unfair for kids to go if they don't pay attention......
Maybe ulster should send round a Quiz and if people can't answer 100% then they don't get a ticket...... As for your auditing suggestion what's to stop munster fans coming up and getting a ticket?
Now I am years off this but if I do decide to ever purchase a season ticket for my son I don't care if he understand or not or pays attention or socialised. He is more entitled to a ticket because of what I will have put into the club.

It is 10 pounds to join the supporters - that makes a GUARANTEED ticket available to all who want to go.
Story end of
I think Terrace Season tickets last year were round the 170 pound mark - thats only 12 a game.
