I Have A Strange Feeling of Optimism
Everywhere I look I see tales of woe about how England will be put to the sword; they aren't going to be good enough; we'll get mullered in the scrum; too many Sarries/Saints players; no likelihood of getting a win etc.
I actually feel that although we may not do exceptionally well at this year's 6 nations tournament, I actually feel there is the basis for a superb team to rise from the ashes of the very poor RWC squad. Dead wood has been jettisoned. We have the option of blooding a whole chunk of new, enthusiastic and pretty talented players, each of which will by chomping at the bit to play for their country. Many are on exceptional form for their clubs.
The one thing I can't understand is all the fans who have been calling for the likes of Tindall, Easter et al to go are now saying that there's no chance the youngsters are going to cut it.
Whilst I appreciate there will be a distinct lack of experience in the squad, how else are they going to get full international experience? By sitting in the stands having competed in a recent Saxons game? Let's give our young lads a chance - they might actually surprise us!

Re: I Have A Strange Feeling of Optimism
Mr Bounce,
If its any consolation and as a neutral I think England will do better than most predict, now considering Paul Ackford predicted they would finish 5th then I don't think it will that hard to be better than that.
Bringing the youngsters in through choice or injury is always a bit dodgy but it had worked for us with the likes of Lydiate, Faletau, Warburton, Priestland, North and Davies.
If Englands young guns can have a similar affect to what those guys have had then it won't be all doom and gloom.

Re: I Have A Strange Feeling of Optimism
I share your optimism Mr. Bounce.
Ireland and Wales seem to be confident and most is not expecting much from england.
What must not be forgotten is that they are one of the big five and can turn their fortunes around faster than you would expect.
I think their world cup form can be totally negated for the purpose of the 6 Nations, from everything I have read it looked more like a holiday gathering in NZ than a team seriously prepared to compete in the world cup.
They have things to attone for, and I expect it will be sooner rather than later.
