No Downfall, but it should be Grand Slam obviously.

My favourite rugby movie is Old Scores - Windsor Davies tries to win a match by having the ball boy switch balls at a critical point
And that movie is over 20 years old ...

My favourite rugby movie is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (not the creepy Tim Burton version but the original). Best thing Gavin Henson ever did.

Pedantic corner time - that was called Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory. The remake is very creepy but I actually prefer it!

Was Old Scores the one about the rematch with the All Blacks, when the linesman confesses on his death bed? What was the other one about a group of valley boys going to Paris, think that one was older though.

You were right first time. The lineman is on his death bed and confesses to a NZRFU official, that Belddyn Bowen a Welsh player, stepped into touch, I did it for Wales. Then all hell breaks loose with the match being replayed in Cardiff and all the old players getting called up from both teams.
The New Zealand captain gets drunk before the game and goes missing, and New Zelaand get smashed early on by Wales, though Wales blow some clear scoring chances to score tries because the outside center and wing are arguing about the winger fathering a child with the centers wife.
The New Zealand captain sees the Gareth Edwards statue in Cardiff and hears New Zealand are in dire straits, and is inspired to return to the ground. Half time goes with Wales well ahead and the Welsh wing and center resolve their problems after finding out that a Welsh coach the centers father in law was stiring the shít for years and caused the problems. The Welsh fans taunt the New Zealanders and causes an internal fight between the New Zealanders which results in one New Zealand player getting knocked out. The Drunk All Black captain comes to the field and inspired a brilliant Kiwi fight back, Wales are in disarray and are about to lose the game when Wales put "Old lucky" onto the field which is a magical rugby ball that Wales used to use to avoid losing games as Wales never lost a game using it.
New Zealand score a try in front of the posts to tie the game but their kicker is injured so the drunk captain elects to take the kick himself. The ball refuses to go between the posts and lands square on the goal posts and pops, resulting in it getting stranded and no team winning. The Welsh and New Zealand players erupt in laughter and the game finishes a draw.
Cracking film and very, very funny to be honest.

Re: The greatest rugby movie ever made...
It wasn't Bleddyn Bowen. Bleddyn Bowen is a former Wales centre who played in the late 1980's. The Wales player in question in Old Scores was a player named Bleddyn Morgan who was a Right-Winger blessed with the pace of Stuart Watkins with the Swerve and silky running skills of Gerald Davies, who incidentally was also in this film playing a cameo role as a Wales centre.
