The Official 2013 Wales v England bickering thread.
First topic message reminder :
2013 bickering thread
OK, every year we see threads that actually contain really good rugby discussion derailed by the ongoing Wales vs England bickering and WUMMING! I will name no names. I guess we have all been guilty.
Since most of the general bickering comes from the respective fans of Wales and England ; I thought I would create a thread for it in an effort to keep decent rugby discussion relatively WUM free in other threads.
Let it commence

On the news today there was some muppet (in Llundidno? Not necessary welsh, could be imported) getting the Team GB Medal tally tattooed on him because he wanted to show how patriotic he was! That seemed mental to me (but I hadn't head about the nuts-nutcase before).

Hey, 2 Christmas's ago, we went to watch Falcons play Leeds. We fought through snow and bank holiday traffic to get there from Durham, and when we did, Falcons had called the match off because they said the pitch was unsafe... Rubbish! The thaw was on. Talk about soft...
Yeah I recall that one - turned up at the Twin Farms - nothing unusual, same faces etc, had my three swift pints af Rivet Catcher and schlepped to KP. Still no notices or anything, it was not until I walked through an open gate and noticed that there was nobody around that I surmised the game was off.
Would normally have then went on the lash big style, but I had a hangover already and my bowels were not happy with me so I bimbled on home.
I think the pitch might have been playable but it was the ice around the immediate area that made them call it off.
Corned beef in the compo packs - well ok not the best - but a hell of a lot better than those big tins of pilchards (might be before your time, used to get a lot of them in the '80's).

Are you paying for yours in installments? If you are, you need to phone the ticket office and they'll print you out a ticket for the London Irish match because it's played before the final installment leaves your account.

We left the house at 11.40 am to get to the match in time. They abandoned the match at 11.50 apparently. What a bad bit of admin. Imagine the guys who were travelling from Leeds. I was livid.
You better believe I remember the pilchards - we were forbidden from eating them due to the fact that there was a potential poisoning issue - but obviously, they were still being issued years later in the 10 man packs. The only use we could find for them was to make pilchard bombs using sections of mini-fascine pipes - or sneakily pouring them over the radiator grills of Troopy's Spartan.

This thread will be a marathon, if it is to have an ETA of spring 2013.
(not sure about Hersh's timing tbh)
Have we peaked too soon ? or just wandered off the road for a pint, fag, & a breather ?

They never told us that! - mind you we were just TA so if we went down with food poisoining it wouldn't be in the army's time.
Yes I agree that that call of back then was VERY badly organised. It seems that there are big changes going on in the background at KP so hopefully that sort of ball up won't happen again.

No we have the pre-season friendlies to get more anglo-welsh angst in, then we have the strengths of the Rabo v Jeff (one they start) to brag/bitch about, and then there should be some Anglo-Welsh HEC/LV= before the Wales V Eng match. So we have plenty to keep us going. However that may be thread continuation 2 or 3 by then (max 1,000 post of something).

Scarlet,
yes, Glos v Cardiff Saturday week (although I'll be at a wedding).
Glos have nicked some talent from Scarlets: the coach, and number 8, so feel free to comment. London Welsh now on the Jeff fixture list, and Glos play Hairsprays at the Liberty in November in the LV.
England fans on here have to pace ourselves for the grand crescendo in the 6n in Feb/ March.

Re: The Official 2013 Wales v England bickering thread.
Gregor - Nigel Davies may take a while to get his squad the way he wants it, and does have a tendancy to drop good players because he has decided that they have the wrong attitude etc, even though they are pne of the better players in their position. Also he has a tendancy to make changes on the hour mark, and sometime just because he can, which does annoy people. That said I think that he will do a crackign job for you. And big Ben well lets be fair as an Englishman you should know enough about him. Also Martyn Thomas started out at the Scarlets (when Nigel was skills coach) and is a very good attacking player, a young Geordan Murphy IMO.

Re: The Official 2013 Wales v England bickering thread.
Scarlet
thanks. I'm excited about the young backs in Glos squad, most of whom have a great attitude, and more development in them. I see your points about Davies' style. Maybe he will ruffle some of the old salts in the squad, mostly some of the forwards. The 'new' SH is Jimmy Cowan, ex all black with attitude, so that will be interesting. And Tindall will allegedly have some kind of coaching role, so could be fascinating to see how that works out with the new head coach and the keen young backs.
regards GR

ha ha ! I understand Scarlet.
Season almost here. Glos play Cardiff as a friendly this Sat.
But I'll be at a wedding in Kent so will miss the fun.
If Glos ever play Scarlets we can have a jolly good banter about it.

Did dragons exist or is it a good eample of welsh fantasy. Believing they will win the world cup, beliving in dragons. Not much difference there.

The very fact that Saints get their anointments is dependent on a bunch of blokes in fancy frocks in Italy believe in miracles. So if you want to believe in dragons or whatever it doesn't matter.
Not very scientific though.
