The All New England v Wales bickering thread, 2012
Same idea as the last one created by TycroesOsprey, but this time can we please stay on topic and no silly ponies.
"OK, every year we see threads that actually contain really good rugby discussion derailed by the ongoing Wales vs England bickering and WUMMING! I will name no names. I guess we have all been guilty.
Since most of the general bickering comes from the respective fans of Wales and England ; I thought I would create a thread for it in an effort to keep decent rugby discussion relatively WUM free in other threads. "
Let it commence

Could you not just rename it to something else?
Like the Wales and english friendship thread.
Yeah, yeah, I know, but at least they can try.

drawn lions series in 55 against the boks I think. Cliff Morgan running rings around the saffers. Was the most successful tour until the seventies

Biltong - you seem to be getting far too used to our optimism. I suggest you counter this by reading some of the regional debating threads where it is nowt but doom and gloom! As a Welsh fan it seems it's impossible for us to be happy about both

RD, I prefer to just read and not comment too much, I do have the need however to make a witty remark every now and then just to keep my Welsh Fans honest. It is not my style to hurt those already hurting.

Should I get prawn or cucumber sandwiches made for this weeks game? or maybe both?
Also should I take the Aston or the Range to the game?
My only concern with the Range is that its a little common in the car park these days.

My gardener made some nice courgette pickle during the summer, that might be nice with some cheese and Champagne, and before anyone asks I won’t be driving home.
I think I’ll take the Range as that won’t attract much attention when I leave it in the car park overnight.

I hope that the majority of Welsh fans going to the game will be wearing those ghastly figure hugging tight shirts, as last time I won a few quid by guessing how many overweight slobs we could see from our box.

Anyway back to the rugger, I think Englands bench will win us the game its far superior to the Welsh one.
As long as we hang in there for 65min, we'll win

Lets go back to 1999 Wales 32-31 England, Wembley
Should this result be re-written in the history books as a win for England, Shane Howarth's try shouldn't stand seeing as he was an illegal player and shouldn't have been there?
It was a travesty, plus Scott Gibbs try was a result of a forward pass missed by the officials.

Not in term of experience with Wales boasting 205 caps compared to Englands 129 on the bench so I guess its down to how they are used.

I predict Wales to score an early try after Charlie Hodgson charges down Owen Farell's clearance kick.

Wales give out caps to retiring players just so they can do a forward roll infront of a full house, the Welsh cap has lost its value hence why Ben Morgan wanted to earn his.

Jeremy Guscotts view - He's english I think
From what we have seen so far in the Six Nations, Wales are deserved favourites to beat England but that doesn't mean they will definitely win. I honestly don't believe Wales will be complacent because they have not won anything yet and have everything to lose.
There hasn't been a lot that I've seen from their performances that makes me confident that England can pull off an upset, if the game remains close, that could play on their minds.
Wales have a settled team playing in a style they all seem comfortable with and England are finding their way. England have to frustrate the Welsh and put them under pressure in all areas of the game.
Wales' one weakness appears to be the line-out but they have won both games so far despite that. Ideally, I would like England to have the same ambition as Scotland showed playing Wales but with better execution - if they do that they stand a chance of winning.

Thankyou Majestic.
But it is true isn't it,
The big problem for Wales is that they have two world class props but both are the wrong side of 30 and have had their fair share of injuries, I don't think they can make the next RWC, without these two Wales are dead in the water.

"without these two Wales are dead in the water" -- I think you'll find (barring career-ending injuries) that other very good props will also be available for selection by the next WC.

I'll be wearing my daffodil hat with a giant leek in one hand and a warm expensive pint in the other - a proper mans day out. I'll then be hitting Llyndion to seek out the "prawn sandwich brigade" girl friends.

Is it true you can still shoot a Welshman if he's within an English city limits after nightfall as long as it's with a bow and arrow?
Or is that just Chester?

Just Chester, I think. A jealously guarded privelege.
Doesn't Carlisle have similar rights in relation to Scots?
slartibartfast: Head down Richmond High Street after the game. It goes Rugby after Internationals at Twickers and there's a good mixed crowd. Have a great day - I'm sure you will.

Win or Lose I'll hold my head up high and count the planes going overhead.

Farrell earned his call up though consistent performances for his club, plus he has a league winners medal already at such a young age, I think some fans are worried that we might have found another Wilko!

You're right HERSH! Last time a claim like that was thrown about it was for the ever so successful Danny Cipriani!
And the league medal suggests that he's at least as good as Dan Biggar!
