However, they have Llorente up front instead of 2008 Torres or David Villa.

His hair has got to hit them badly.

GK: Hart, Green
RB: Richards, Walker
LB: A Cole, Baines
CB: Terry, Cahill, Lescott, Jagielka
CM: Parker, Wilshere, Barry, Gerrard, Scholes
AM: Young, A Johnson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lennon
CF: Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge, Defoe

Only 2 goalkeepers realistically needed, Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of Walcott, Scholes even if he's only a second half sub as there's no-one English better at keeping possession than him.

GK: Hart, Green, Carson
RB: Richards, Walker
LB: A Cole, Baines
CB: Rio, Cahill, Jagielka
CM: Parker, Wilshere, Jones, Gerrard, Scholes
AM: Young, A Johnson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott
CF: Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge, Carroll

I can't have Terry in my team full stop...
I prefer Jones to Barry. I've never fully 'got' Barry. He is a decent player but Jones offers more, and with Scholes there, it means that Parker can do the dirty work and Scholes can play the ball.
Walcott over Lennon, but only as an impact sub. I'd have Johnson/Young as my starters.
Carroll over Defoe simply because he offers something totally different to the other strikers and it could be important.
I have three keepers because I'm cautious, plus Jones or Richards can play CB if they needed to.

Only change I think I'd make to the selection you made is to take out Terry for Jones, yes Terry is still a better defender but I think that the effect his presence could have in the dressing room outways the positives.

Actually I'd take Crouch over Defoe/Carroll, don't care what people say about Crouch, for England he does the job.

Marky, sorry but some of that squad should NOT be taken.

Lescott - think his haircut speaks for itself. Hes not that good at all, we have better.
Cahill - rubbish haircut = hes rubbish. He is over hyped because he is english.
Barry - awful haircut = awful player, offers nothing but makes up the numbers. Michael Carrick is being overlooked. He has a sick haircut and is playing very well this season. Offers more than Barry.
Oxlade-Chamberlain - too young, needs to let his hair grow and develop as well as himself as a player. That wont happen in 2 1/2 months at Arsenal.

Viva till Summer 2011 sick haircut = Sick player
Viva after Summer 2011 crap haircut = Crap player

So this theory is very true and we all need to accept it rather then try to mess it up.

Tooze stop the Norwich bias no one from your team deserves to play for England. I know people say that they only pick players from the big teams thats because the big teams have the best players. These little players need to leave theirl ittle teams join a big team and then get to the England team.

Have heard some really strong rumours from my colleague (the Real Madrid club member) that Real have already agreed a deal to take Krasic to the Bernabeau and that Perez is a huge fan.

They have seen the impact that the pace of Sanchez has had and are following suit a little I feel.

Watch this space, but expect to see Krasic in the white of Los Meringues next season. Seems an unlikely turnaround for Krasic, but proof that even if your face doesn't fit at one club, world class players always have somewhere else to go.

I'll try and find out more

In terms of ability they are probably the same but what does Ruddy have on his C.V? If we had to call on him during the Euros would he be able to handle the pressure. It's too late in the season to call up an untried untested player unless we have some serious injuries in that department.

Carson is currently the keeper for the second best defence in Turkey.

That is no mean feat given the dominance of the Istanbul clubs

Tooze if we don't take players because they have made a mistake then we have no players. These things happen and it was awful why do we always have to make a player a scapegoat the fact is the whole England team were rubbish and you can't put the blame on one single person.

Nick I did check it and I was suprised to see Carrick come out top in the tackle percentage department. Whenever United don't play well Carrick is blamed even though it was the rest of the team who also played poor. I like him I think he is a very good player and shows that you don't need to dive in to get the ball.

we dont have enough good goalkeepers is what Im saying more than anything. We have only had one excellent goalkeeper (hart) for a long time now and he needs people around him who have a decent shot of pushing him to do even better.

If Carrick was doing so well, SAF wouldn't be worried about rotating and would be using Scholes purely as cover for Carrick, not in rotation.

BTW Parker had really good % stats too, but then he only passes it 5 yards. I reckon if Gerrard did the same passes as Parker and Carrick, he would be on 100%

Lampard > Gerrard

Gerrard is the most complete English midfielder the Premier League has seen and to say he has no brain is laughable and shows either blinkered Man Utd bias, or a lack of understanding of football.

I can't stand him as an Everton fan, but I can at least put my bias aside and see how good he is.

Even SAF picked him out as the one player from the opposition that he would most have liked to have signed during his time at United

You say that but he created 18 chances more regulary than Barry and Parker.

Now thats just stupid Afro. In febuary Carrick has started 4/5 matches, Scholes 2/5.
You of all people should know SAF will rotate (fixture depending) comming into the business end of the season. He always has, look at how Yorke and Cole were firing in 99 but Ole and Teddy still got games and goals.

Im actually disapointed in you Afro for making that statemant, expect better from you

Tooze sorry can you please explain to me how United were lucky to beat Norwich? Did United get a dodgy offside goal? Were Norwich denied a goal because of poor ref? No sorry United were not lucky they were good enough to win just because it was a late goal does not make it lucky.

Afro stop acting like Fan because someone disagrees with you in Football does not mean they don't understand it. Gerrard would be sitting on the United bench sorry but he would not be in the side ahead of Beckham, Scholes Keane and Giggs maybe when we had the likes of Smith and O'Shea playing in midfield.

Countless time he plays the Hollywood ball and it never reaches the player all he does is run and run ask himto dictate the midfield he can never do it, why did Benitez prefer Lucas in CM over Gerrard. Ask Gerrard to control a midfield playing in a 4-4-2 he can never do it. Gerrard would struggle to play in a team who try to play Football teams who keep the ball all he does is boot it and hit it as hard as he can. Give me Paul Scholes any day.

You two are far worse than Fan when it comes to someone having a different opinion.

I don't think so, I mean one minute you said you can't accuse someone of not understanding football and then the next you accused Afro of not understanding football.

I considered briefly that you were being ironic...

On Carrick, I actually like him, but then I'm a West Ham fan and he is another product of our glorious youth era. One thing I definitely think is that he plays much better with Scholes alongside him.

For the record, my actual opinion is that Carrick has played really well this season and should be ahead of at least Barry in the England reckoning.

But I also disagree with your opinions on Gerrard. I rate Scholes very highly, but I would rather have Gerrard in my midfield out of the two. it is close, but that is my opinion

Gerrard is one of the best midfielders in the modern game, Zizou himself said as much and I'd take his verdict over Dappy wanabees.

Ahem

"But I have to say we were lucky today in the sense that although we made a host of chances, Danny Welbeck could have scored four. I thought Norwich were the better team."
"In that first half, they put 12 crosses into the box and if it wasn't for (Rio) Ferdinand, (Jonny) Evans and David de Gea, we wouldn't have survived it."

“I have to say we were lucky in the sense that although we made a host of chances – Danny Welbeck could have scored four – I thought Norwich were the better team,” he said. “They kept at it and kept at it and deserved their goal, there’s no question about it. They deserved a result actually. They had a lot of thrust about them, determined and kept crossing that ball into the box."

“Norwich had more promise about them"

I have Scholes over Gerrard, but I don't agree with some of the criticism levelled above. He is a complete midfielder and he has carried some very average Liverpool teams seemingly on his own at times.

Well it was a joke of course I wouldn't be daft enough to say one thing and then disagree with what I said in the next post. Now that I had to explain this you've killed the buzz on the main page. Everyone stop posting you can thank Sodhat for it.

Don't say that otherwise they will flood the page again with comments about you not understanding football and Paul Scholes being better, but then also telling you that you are like Fan because you aren't letting them have their own opinions and arguing against them.

isn't that right VivaPotScholes and NickFurryKettle?

Sorry Viva, tone is difficult to infer in written text. I did put a laugh smiley though, so you can take that as me laughing at your gag.

Scholes is a brilliant player in his own right as is Gerrard. I would have loved either to have played for Everton, just if I had to pick, I would have gone for Gerrard (if you took away his Liverpool history).

Scholes could run a game better than Gerrard, but Gerrard can carry a team and drive them forward better than Scholes. If the team is on the back foot and under pressure, Scholes becomes less effective and is prone to mistakes, Gerrard remains as effective and pulls them through the pressure.

Gerrard is good and he is complete.
Scholes cant tackle and thats it. Every other aspect of him game IMO is.was better than Gerrard.

Both in there prime, Scholes.
Now, Scholes.

Gerrard look a shadow of his former self. Sholes has changed his game and is STILL about to control and dictate a match.

One thing Gerrard & Lampard havent done is ajusted their game like Scholes. Due to this I think the longevity of there career will not be like Scholes.
