Morning all

Mancini got a little too cocky me-thinks by resting Aguero and A Johnson on the bench against a hard-working side like Swansea.

Plan back-fired and the inconsistent Utd work their way to the top again.
You have to hand it to the manager and players, these guys never give up.
Great mentality.

Spurs getting shaky now too

Yes. Not terribly confident tbh. We're just not playing well enough but an early goal for us could make things interesting. The biggest problem I can see is us keeping a clean sheet. Napoli's defence isn't the best either so I can see us having chances to get goals, I just can't see us keeping them out at the other end. JT back helps but we need pace at FB.

RDM seems to have done well getting the players together again but too little too late, for the CL at least. I think Arsenal will finish third now, leaving us to see if we can overhaul Spurs. We play them on March 24th at SB. I hope they remain in poor form. I do think I need to clear my diary on Thursdays for next season though. Doh

Great weekend for your boys. Swansea have been top class at home this season. You've gotta fancy your chances now.

On paper it looks an easy run in but with several of them in the thick of the relegation zone they'll not be games Utd can simply turn up for. The experience of being able to grind out results in the thick end of the season should come to Utd's advantage though.
How on earth Utd are top though this season just staggers me, it really does show how much of a factor Fergie is as I reckon him at the helm of any of the top 5 clubs would have resulted in them being top.

Experience of a successful title run in certainly helps. I can see City dropping more points tbh whereas I see Utd staying strong. You weren't brilliant last year but didn't need to be. Same this year really.

Will failure for City see the end of Mancini?

Yes.
To have spent that level of money and to end the season with nothing I can't see being accepted by the billionaire owners.
You look at the City squad and they should really have walked the league.

Thats the beauty of this league...it's not down to who has the best squad.
It's about who has used their squad most effectively and got the best out of them.

Nasri has been a flop this year. AJ should be ahead of him.
He keeps chopping and changing his full-backs too.

I wonder how much of a chance he'll be given. I can only see this current exercise is one to ensure a club stumps up the cash City want for him in the summer.

Good rallying call but far too much damage has been done beforehand this season to change things now. I see no hope whatsoever tonight. We'll get chances since Napoli do play an open game but (a) there's every chance we won't take any and (b) even if we do, I don't see us keeping them out. So, not very hopeful. Really just going to sit there and watch the inevitable unfold. A bit like watching England at the World Cup. Sad

As for JT, he's a top captain imo despite his obvious failings as a human being. He's not the sort of bloke you'd want to introduce your daughter to and his folks seem to be a rough lot so you can see why he is the way he is. Having said that, I'm not convinced about the Ferdinand issue. I tend to think he did say what he claims to have said, i.e. he was asing Anton if he was accusing him of calling him that term. I don't think he is a Suarez. If I thought he was, I'd want him out.

Hi Fellas.

Keep predictions coming in please. They will shut at 11pm sharp as I need to calculate results before going snowboarding tomorrow.

Please can someone take care of the round 5 page for me? It's pretty self explanatory but let me know if any problems..

Injuries for weeks 5-8 will inclusive will be announced later today.

Its not to say they're bad players, but they're not what they were and the highlights now are more occasional spikes in a downward trajection.
Gerrard scored 3 on Tuesday, great, whatabout the 3 games previous where they lost?
Drogba scored last night, what about in the Premier League this season where he's scored 5 goals in 18 games.

Hero I understand where you are coming from but these players have the quality...they just need a confidence boost.

Gerrard has been injured most of the season and last week he came on as a sub.

Not any player can score a hat-trick especially on a derby day.
I would rather rate players who are doing it then 'potentially' very good.

Lets see the likes of Goetze, Hazard, Neymar etc do when they play in the CL against top teams. Then they will be judged.

Otherwise they end up like Denilson (old) or Robinho

There's no 'potentially' about it and the yardstick of the CL is not the be all and end all of how a player can be judged.
That's akin to saying George Best cannot be classed as a genuine World Class player as he never went to the World Cup.

George Best won the European Cup didnt he?

I wouldnt class someone 'world class' if they havent competed somewhere other than their domestic league. They need to prove it elsewhere too.

That's my opinion because sometimes potential players do not live up to the hype.

Morning guys. Feeling a bit groggy today. Fantastic. Very Happy

Talk about rollercoaster. We certainly rode our luck at times and at no stage did we ever look comfortable. For once, we took our chances and the opposition missed theirs.

The old guard can still turn it on but it is becoming the exception rather than the norm. I hope they keep up that intensity in our other matches to come this season. Last night was about getting some momentum rather than having any realistic chance of winning the CL, we don't but hopefully we can get a run going in the PL and FAC.

Hazard is Belgium and plays in the French League Wink

The main thing that needs to be asked of the old guard at Chelsea is why on earth they can put in a performance like that now, but looked like they were having a kick about on a Sunday morning after a heavy night for most of the season.

I agree with that Guv - momentum and confidence boost at this stage of the season is key.

All of a sudden City will find it tougher to play both Chelsea and Arsenal if they can maintain their form.
