Djokovic:
“I really don't prefer anybody of those two (laugh). Whoever I play, I obviously wouldn't feel like a favorite on the court… and by the way, it is a final, so in order for me to win I will have to be on the top of my game against either of those two players.”
Nadal:
"Yeah, he's winning very easy all the matches. He don't to lose a match this year, so we'll see is what's going on. He's playing fantastic. I just can congratulate him about what he did the first three months of the season. It's fantastic."
"So on Sunday have to play very well all the match if I want to have any chance. I have to play aggressive and I have to play all the points, and that's what I going to try."

Really like the Soderling and Del Po matchup, and the other two are great matches as well. Blake and Djoko, also the fish and Gasquet match are also filled with great shot makers and really watchable players.

Excellent thread, Green.
Stand out match is obviously Delpo vs. Soderling, and I want to say that Blake vs. Novak could be good, but I suspect we'll see another great display from Novak.

Wooffie,
your wish is my command!
Yeah, Novak's matches have become rather boring (except when facing the GOATs, of course)... at least they don't last long...
[Just joking! ]
Ferrer-Devvarman could be an entertaining match, too.

Well done Green
I'm intrigued to find out how the Del Potro/Soderling match pans out !

Great thread, Green. I'm aware you're a Djokovic fan, but unfortunately I suspect we'll see his mighty highness Sir Lord James Blake absolutely muller Novak Djokovic. I for one can't see Nole winning a point. Sorry.

Not sure about that... He doesn't seem to need my support anymore!
So I would be grateful to Sir Lord Blake if he could muller Novak... just a little bit, if not absolutely.
PS. Novak threw his racquet yesterday (in the doubles), so he's still vulnerable.

To be fair to Novak, he was playing with Andy Murray, who right now is roughly useless. I'd be pretty damn frustrated if I were him.
There was one absolutely epic point played in that match yesterday, here's a link if you haven't seen it:

That is true! Otherwise he'd have thrown his racquet at Andy... However, Andy's lucky Novak didn't do that after that epic point.
It was a good match, it's a shame they lost...

Re: ATP Miami Masters: The Final
Another excellent article. It is even more up to date than the official ATP site!
The Juan Martin Del Potro match with Robin Soderling must be the tie of the third round. If Robin does get beaten then Andy Murray will reclaim the world Number 4 ranking while Juan will get a first win over a top 10 player since his return from injury.

Re: ATP Miami Masters: The Final
I felt for James, three doubles serving to stay in the set to Nole in the first. And then he didn't win a game after that. In fact, he was quite lucky not to go 6-1 and 6-0. Nice guy though james, hope he can make his way back to a much better ranking.

There seems to be no slowing down the momentum of Novak Djokovic. That was another impressive victory. Congratulations also to Juan Martin for his first victory against a top ten opponent since returning from injury.

I certainly hope so, he's my favourite player!
The reality though is he's 31 now, he's done so much and put in so much effort just to make a career of tennis, I think he's just winding down now: he seems to almost be playing for fun these days. He may hang around the Top 200, but unless he decides to really go for it in a home tournament I doubt he'll be back.

Yes, James is one of the better people on tour, I hope he can make a push at least maybe back into the seeded player range so he can pick up some good paydays here and there. I don't ever think he will be a top 20 player again, but with all that he has had to deal with he has had a great career.

As long as he does it for two sets and then is off, I'm not bothered.
This seems a bit laboured from Federer.
Another couple of surprise results with Youzhney and Almagro going out though.

Another comfortable service game for Monaco. Great start, apart from his first service game he has had little trouble so far.

Federer really likes to get them at 6-5, but this is Pico on the other side of the net and not, say, "old Novak"...

Well ... that was a very valiant effort by Pico. <applause>
Have to say I didn't see anything imperious by Federer. He got a bit pushed at times by Pico but had enough to get himself through.

Re: ATP Miami Masters: The Final
Juan Monaco is playing very well against Roger but has just dropped his serve to go 4-5 down in the second set. It must be expected that Roger will serve out for the match and he does 7-6 6-4. Well played to both players. I hear that Pico is Spanish for "Big Nose" as in a birds beak so I hope Juan doesn't mind being called Pico. His nose seems fairly normal to me.
I am interested in seeing how well Alexandr Dolgopolov performs against Jo Tsonga later. Feliciano Lopez has played well so far in this tournament so could provide a little challenge to Rafael.

Re: ATP Miami Masters: The Final
What a tournament for the unexpected, youzny just lost to rocus, that makes 8 of the top 13 players on tour out of the tournament. Looks like things are really opening up for one of the big three. Soderling, Verdasco, Murray, Roddick, Almagro, and Melzer all out before the 4th round, quite surprising.

Re: ATP Miami Masters: The Final
A very busy schedule today. I'm interested to see who Rafa's next opponent will be and if he will get the talented Dolgo. I'm not sure who I want most here. I would like to see Dolgo play Rafa, but he's unknown to him ... so who knows? whilst Rafa has beaten Tsonga every single time since that match, so he knows what he's up against there.
I think JMDP will see off Fish, so will today be the day that doesn't have any upsets??

Re: ATP Miami Masters: The Final
I had expected Feliciano to have put up a little more resistance, more 7-5 6-4 rather than a 6-3 6-3 performance. Perhaps Rafael is in a slightly better form than at Indian Wells with this being his second tournament back after injury. Indian Wells and Miami are both highly competitive Masters tournaments so it might be expected that tiredness would creep into Rafaels game at some stage. However this will be the case for all players except that Rafael had the injury break.
The Alexandr - Jo Wilfried match is nicely poised at 3-2 in the final set and going with serve.

Re: ATP Miami Masters: The Final
From what I remember of the match, Feli did kind of play into Rafa's hands a bit and just kept his A-game going which is what Rafa is, of course, used to. Rafa had positive things to say about his performance though and said he is feeling the ball better and has found much better rhythm. He served much better in parts.

Well played Mardy. His dream of being the number one ranked american (North, South and U.S.) is one match away.
Well played too to Juan Martin he should be back in the top twenty in the near future.

Re: ATP Miami Masters: The Final
Mardy looking really strong should be an interesting contrast in stylest between fish and ferrer. The draw is really opening up for both Novak and Roger with all these upsets, Nadal's quarter looks a bit tougher. I like Ferrer in the matchup because fish was on court for nearly 2 and half hours. Although I picked against Fish this match, maybe he is the inform guy right now.
