Munster v Leinster
First topic message reminder :
Here we go again.
Travelling in hope but not expectation. Would be great to win this one, but I would settle for a LBP and no (more) injuries.
Apparently there is hope on Mike Ross and Jamie Hagan. No word on White. They usually release an injury update on Mondays at lunchtime.
Don't fancy facing DuPreeyahhh and Botha with Jack McGrath at th. It was a credit to him as a first year LOOSE head prop that he did not get injured in those scrums against some serious experience and power

Well, BJ doesn't agree with you.
I also think that a lot of the young props that do well at underage level has a lot more to do with their size than having any technique. This all falls apart then when they come across the old pros.

I agree with the size thing. I think Irish players have a problem with this. They look to pack on muscle and lack the skill needed for rugby at a higher level.
I think Ireland should invest in a scrummaging school with scrummaging pro's as teachers.

Good call. The new National scrum-coach, should kick this off. It should be a prime part of his remit. We need help, so get it in and coordinate it Nationally.

Re: Munster v Leinster
Realisticly, we need a Cian Healy aged tight head who starts for his provence in the big games and who would then slot into the Irish bench.
There is also another option. I read once about importing a big, nasty Georgian and claiming him through residency laws.

Yes. But if we dont blood them, where will they come from? Healy has been beasted on numerous occasions - by French, Scottish, Welsh and English teams. But he has grown stronger out of it. You cant protect them forever. You have to deep-end them to progress, grow and learn their craft.
I say get some Saffer experts in, and beast the kids up from an early age. Give the training and the techniques to protect themselves early. Make them hardened at Academy level. No more pussey-footing around.

Re: Munster v Leinster
our only big scrum issue is a passable back up tight head and healy on occasions coming under pressure. irish scrum has been pretty good over the last few season. pity the rest of our game has been crap
all of this scrum talk is a smokescreen to deflect away from other more pressing deficiencies in the international set up. The IRFU are fuelling it with their high profile job advertisement as are Thornley and a few others in the media to deflect away from poor results and poor performances
was the scrum the reason we lost to England this year - absolutely
was it the reason we lost to Wales 3 times in a year, blew a lead in Paris, lost to Wales in WC, lost all warm up games, lost to France in Dublin etc you get the picture
anyway on to tonight. 21-20 Leinster.

I agree with Gibson. It shows what their really made of if they suffer a beasting and keep coming back or if they are successfull first time out against top opposition props.

Baff v Saints on now. Bottle of Malbec and a raft of Guinness. Missus away. And the big game to come.
Life doesnt get any better than this.
A couple of blonde leggy, Dutch hookers might come in handy later mind.

Fitzy to show Zebo how its done. Shexton to run riot and put ROG (de ligind) in his place. Kearney to show who's boss at 15. Jenno to man-shame POM. In fact...
It Munster v Leinster... I haven't a feicin clue how it will go.
Just know I love it! The tension is palpable and it hasnt started yet.
Best of luck Billy mo chara.

You think we have an endless supply of props that we can afford to let them be destroyed pyschologically?
Read what BJ has to say.

Phhok BJ, he is a mercenary Saffer. Of course he will say that. It fills his fat pockets.

In response to Sin e, we have to take risks with the props or else they will never grow.

Combine that with Michael Corcoran's commentary on rte radio.
I'd also say twomintpork will have a stream.

If you look for Emmet Byrne's article in the same paper you will see the potential prospects who could fill the tight head position. I am not allowed to send links as I am a newbe.
