Munster v Leinster
First topic message reminder :
Here we go again.
Travelling in hope but not expectation. Would be great to win this one, but I would settle for a LBP and no (more) injuries.
Apparently there is hope on Mike Ross and Jamie Hagan. No word on White. They usually release an injury update on Mondays at lunchtime.
Don't fancy facing DuPreeyahhh and Botha with Jack McGrath at th. It was a credit to him as a first year LOOSE head prop that he did not get injured in those scrums against some serious experience and power

Munster Leinster in Twickers - dont think I could take the excitement.......Dont you just love this time of year. Weather is good, season is coming to climax, two trophies to play for - And at 2 HCs each the race is on for number 3

As long as one of us (or the other one!) get it, I'll be content enough. With three contenders it would be downright negligent to let the title go outside Ireland. We seriously need some re-establishment of our intent after the bleak International window.

I would if I were in his position. He has two Heineken Cup medals - what else can he achieve with Leinster.
Get over to SANZAR or France for a few years. Come back aged 28 with new skills.

Its not looking good. Could this be the start of my predicted Exodus?

Yes, it's becoming a full house and even with the new IRFU rules to more tightly control foreign imports, there still won't be enough spaces at the top end for professional players streaming through looking for careers.
If the exodus takes off we could become a net exporter of talent for a few years until competition for places eases.

Fair play to ROG. He assumed he'd be picked for Ireland.

Just after reading that interview (in the actual paper version).
My admiration for O'Gara just grows the older he gets. I like his total individualistic attitude. I know that's a trait that is not meant to be beneficial to a team game but I also consider O'Driscoll to be in that same mode. O'Gara says what he wants to say and doesn't care whether people laugh or cry, throw insults or drop praise... he'll still say it because he exudes inner confidence.
Interested in that 'Maldini Project' and what some of the details might be. We all want to go on for as long as possible - even if it means just walking!

I reckon ROG will make a great coach. Has the balls to be his own man and say it like it is - no matter what people around him think.
Always admired him for that, when others used think he was just a cocky bollix. He is... but he's fully earned that right.

There had been optimism that Murray might make it back in time for this top of the table clash whereas O'Connell was always a doubt. It's hoped however that both may be in contention for inclusion in the squad for the game against Ulster on saturday week.
Meanwhile Munster have confirmed that Peter Stringer and Dave Foley have agreed one year contract extensions.
Munster Squad (28): Marcus Horan, Wian du Preez, BJ Botha, John Ryan, Stephen Archer, Damien Varley, Mike Sherry, Denis Fogarty, Donncha O’Callaghan, Mick O’Driscoll, Billy Holland, Dave O’Callaghan, Peter O’Mahony, Tommy O’Donnell, David Wallace, James Coughlan, Duncan Williams, Tomas O’Leary, Ronan O’Gara, Ian Keatley, Simon Zebo, Danny Barnes, Lifeimi Mafi, Keith Earls, Denis Hurley, Johne Murphy, Scott Deasy, Felix Jones
Good to see Barnes back in the extended squad, hopefully he'll make the matchday 23.
Not having Ryan, POC and Murray weakens us quite a bit but them's the breaks - just have to get on with it.
Delighted that Strings and Dave Foley have signed contract extensions.
From the squad named about I'd reckon a team something along these lines will be picked:
1. DuPreez
2. Varley
3. BJ Botha
4. DOC
5. MOD
6. POM
7. Wallace
8. Coughlan
9. TOL
10. ROG
11. Zebo
12. Mafi
13. Earls
14. Hurley
15. Jones
16. Sherry
17. Horan
18. Archer
19. Holland
20. TOD (harsh on DOC2)
21. Williams
22. Keatley
23. Murphy (unlucky to be benched really)

Re: Munster v Leinster
Exciting backline, but would be much improved with Murray there - I really hope he makes it back in time for the Ulster game.
The front row will be well I think, they certainly should achieve parity.
The backrow should also go well.
The second row is where I worry. I thought Cullen and Thorn looked very good in their first game together against the Ospreys on Friday night. DOC and Micko will have their work cut out for them there.

I laugh...but I hate making O'Leary the butt of jokes. He tries and he tries and I hope he comes back the one smiling in a few year's time...and laughs in our faces. Really do.
But I just don't think he's ever been in the right position for his skills. I just don't see him as a 9. I think he's a more................... (gulp, say is quietly Fly and they mightn't hear you).................... natural 12 or even, dare I say it, 13!
Nothing like a little controversy in the ranks of the smug

I am being serious when i say that i would have Strings over him...
Many people have said in the past that he could have made a very good 12. There is some merit to that as well as he has quite a bit of experience playing there as you used to play there when he was younger. I am not so sure myself though

So was I. But I just don't believe he's a 9 anyway, and that's why Stringer would be over him. But I also wanted to make clear I'm not questioning his abilities as a player, just what I see as the eternal mistake made by coaches who give him 9.

Oh hello...lets see billy (I really support Munster I do!!!). Pete (ik heb geen flauw idee) and Gibson (biertje a.u.b en heel veel oude hooring)...discussing the game...
TOL will start. MOD and DOC will do fine (as always). Looking to see some more cohesiveness in the backline and POM to deck Brad, Heaslip and SOB in the first 10.
ROG to outplay Johnny (aimless kicking, kick out on the full but I can defend and do other outhalf type things like er.....i forget) Sexton and send him into another period of self doubt (as if he ever came out of it)
Munster by 40.

POC, DR and Murray are massive ommissions from the squad and deinitely bolster Leinster chances of winning. Would gladly sacrafice them for this game though if it increased their chances for the Ulster match.
Only good thing for Munster is Mr Average is playing for Leinster.....10 if you were in any doubt

Do you know something we don't Blue? Are the teams out yet? How many points did O'Gara score in the 6nations?

Teams not out but the above 3 have been ruled out of the squad for definite which is really bad news for us.

Is DOD a vampire?
I've just realised I only ever run into him (thankfully I eat garlic regularly!) late at night. Or if I don't meet him then, I see a whole host of messages he's left for us to read through in the mornings - rather like the friendly elves making the cobbler's shoes for him.
So that's my question... is DOD a friendly vampire elf?

Will there be free honey-glazed turnips outside the ground? Just sayin.
We're used to proper food up here. But, at least the effort would be much appreciated.

Dont mix me up with Peter Clohessy now, or your own preferences for the l.dyboys madam....
Gibson -given you have been eating dutch peasant boorkol for the last few years am sure a few turnips wouldnt hurt...anyhow everyone knows the food you get in Dublin is the real peasant fare...you wont find people in the country eating c.ap like the leftovers that you get there. All that stuff is given to the dogs outside the pale.
