If you're struggling to find players for your squad, use www.transfermarkt.co.uk and search for players from your country, it should give you several options for your squad.
Each country is allowed to call up a maximum of FOUR legends from days gone by (seeing as it's a fantasy tournament).
The definite rule on Legends.
Players who are currently still active can be called up as legends, but it will take up one of your 4 legends spaces. Also the four legends in your squad must be labelled as legends to signify they are your four legends in their prime. I agree that it might be better if it was purely players who had retired, but I will leave the rule open so anyone could choose someone from years gone by or recent times. It widens the pool of players to be honest.
For example, Thierry Henry would be the guy running around the MLS, but Thierry Henry (Legend) would be the guy in his prime at Arsenal. And no, you can't have two of the same player (one as legend and one as normal) as that would be stupid.
Congratulations to ncfc_Tooze and Germany! See you at World Cup 2014...
Week 6
Final - Germany 2-1 Italy (Ozil, Klinsmann) (Balotelli)
- Spoiler:
- Seeing as it's little over 2 months until the real thing, just wondering who'd be interested in taking part in a fantasy version of the tournament?
Basically, 16 countries are taking part, so if we get 16 participants (myself plus 15) we all get randomly assigned a country, pick our own 23 man squad for that country, then we play out the real fixtures for the Tournament.
You write out your starting XI, short tactics and substitutions and the fixtures will be voted on by everyone not in the same group, ie if you're in Group A you only need to vote on Groups B, C and D.
Pre-existing suspensions do not affect who you can pick, ie Rooney available for England, Toulalan and Anelka available for France, etc.
Transfers between countries are not permitted.
Quarter finals/semi finals/final will be voted on by anyone who isn't in that tie.
So, who's in?
Group A
Poland - sodhat
Greece - King Beer
Russia - TSC
Czech Republic - Crimey
Group B
Netherlands - Twist
Denmark - TBC
Germany - ncfc_Tooze
Portugal - Hero
Group C
Spain - GG

Stop trying to influence the voting Olly, i've got a back three and a midfield four, how is that open against your front two and midfield three?

I said it was just as much influencing as the comment that you're having a go at the Italian defence.

Sorry, i got bogged down sorting the kids out and never got round to sticking them up.
I'll accept a defeat this week as it's only fair on my opponent.

Re: Euro 2012 Fantasy League
How come last week Holland got a 4-0 win over Denmark who don't have a manager yet I only get a 2-0 one?
I know it's niggling over 2 goals but it could be all important to qualify from the group of death.

I understand the problem, basically Week 1 I wanted as many lots of tactics in as possible and people voted heavily on Netherlands. Week 2, with so many people not submitting tactics i've just gone down the 2-0 default win route.
It shouldn't make a difference though, with one game left Holland and Portugal can't finish on the same points anyway.

Re: Euro 2012 Fantasy League
Ah true fair enough, though Holland had handed in tactics this week so was expecting a draw there and then next week it could have ended with 3 teams on 4 points.

Cherries, what's stopping people from copying and pasting their own tactics from last week? Nothing, so they lost.

I pretty much copied and pasted mine with just a few tweaks as I knew I was facing a country without a manager.

I had to post mine this morning as I was ridiculously ill last night, so just went to bed. Still not great right now, I'm starving, but scared to eat in case it just comes straight back out again.

The question i'll put out is, what should happen in the England v Ukraine game? Neither team submitted tactics, I want to have a double default loss as a draw could benefit Ukraine and it would be very unfair. What's the general concensus?
