Edinburgh Vs Leinster (tomorrow)
Well it's back to the PRO12 after a fantastic weekend for bothe Edinburgh and Leinster in the ERC.
It's Friday the 13th tomorrow too good for Edinburgh or Leinster
Edinburgh Team :
15 Tom Brown
14 Lee Jones
13 Nick De Luca
12 Matt Scott
11 Tim Visser
10 Greig Laidlaw CAPTAIN
9 Chris Leck
1 Kyle Traynor
2 Ross Ford
3 Geoff Cross
4 Esteban Lozada
5 Sean Cox
6 Stuart McInally
7 Roddy Grant
8 Netani Talei
Substitutes
16 Andrew Kelly
17 Robin Hislop
18 Jack Gilding
19 Grant Gilchrist
20 David Denton
21 Ross Rennie
22 Phil Godman
23 Jim Thompson
Not our strongest team but competative none the less. I can only assume Chunk is being rested after all the greggs stickky toffee puddings he scranned after successfuly drawing all those penalties from Toulouse.
The Backs look dangeorus but I worry for our front row. Our backrow will be good too.

Definitely some of the victorious pack getting well deserved rests, but any side with Traynor starting gives me the heebie-jeebies! What's happened to Steve Lawrie, is he injured?

Re: Edinburgh Vs Leinster (tomorrow)
Strong Leinster team but a lot of front line players missing.
Only 3 staters from last week. Kearney, Carr and Nacewa is a deadly back 3 though.
Can't wait for this one, after missing last weeks game I feel like i've been out of the loop for AGES!

Re: Edinburgh Vs Leinster (tomorrow)
Good Edinburgh team, pleased with the continuity and also the fact that key subs like Grant and McInally will get some game time.
Big game for Traynor this. With Edinburgh just signing Yapp he'll have to really step up to get game time next season. Similarly Leck, who must know he has a chance of the starting 9 jersey next season if he plays strongly in games like this.
Leinster look strong, and this is the league, so my expectations are adjusted accordingly.....

Re: Edinburgh Vs Leinster (tomorrow)
Good to see Schmidt continuing his true policy of sizeable rotations.
Yes, it's a league game and, but for the time of year, it might very well have been expected to be a typical 2nd string game. But this is end of season pressure. It's also some real deal possible call-ups for the HC semi-final (even the possible HC semi bench is a competitive area at Leinster). The players will know that performance matters as much as results here. There is certainly incentive enough to play this harder than one might possibly expect.

Re: Edinburgh Vs Leinster (tomorrow)
I was wondering how he was going to take this one. On one hand we need to the guys to be fresh for the Ulster game, but on the other hand we can't wrap them in cotton wool for 3 weeks and not let them play.
I thought he'd play his first team this week and rest some key guys (Ford, Cross, Laidlaw) next week as the Cardiff game is on a Sunday, so one day less to prepare.
Hopefully Leinster and Ulster beat each other up next week!

Re: Edinburgh Vs Leinster (tomorrow)
Agreed RDW - I think we'll see Kelly, Gilding, Leonard et al against Cardiff. Cardiff are in such a mess that even a reserve side may pinch something against them, whereas no Leinster side is ever easy to beat.
The other thing to factor in is that we may (possibly) end up facing Leinster in the HC Final. Obviously a different occasion and a different event, but I don't much like the idea of allowing them to destroy us in a league game so close to that potential event. We should be competing strongly in this one.

Yeah. That might be the mother of all Phoney wars, that one. Leinster might even play like Ireland to give Ulster not a sniff of how they intent to play it in what might be a more important game down the line..!!

It'll either be kids against kids or basically touch rugby I think! Especially if Leinster beat us this week and guarantee a home semi.

If that's the case it'll be more like Contarf / Mary's under 18's against combined Bangor / Ballymena 3rds..

Re: Edinburgh Vs Leinster (tomorrow)
Good Leinster team considering the guys being rested. I really amn't wild on the Darcy-McFadden partnership but they are solid enough. Wish O'Malley wasn't injured or Fitz or Macken were in there at 13.
Very, very strong pack here with the likes of White, Cronin, Ruddock, heaslip all very physicall not to mention Damien Browne.
I'd be expecting a Leinster win here.

I would have put out a stronger bench to guarantee it.pete (buachaill on eirne) wrote:

That could be what might push it in our favour if we manage to keep in touching distance- we have a lot of impact on our bench.

Worried about this one a bit. We have lost twice as many matches this season IN the RDS as we have eveywhere else put together.

Re: Edinburgh Vs Leinster (tomorrow)
Its really great to see 2 x PRO12 teams, already in the HC SF's - battle this one out. TOP14 and The Jeff - eat yer hearts out.
Well done Edinburgh. The Pride of the PRO12. Well happy for ye and Bradley.
Hope its a nice open game from two rugby-playing sides. Laidlaw(was excellent last wknd) v the aspiring and multi-talented Madigan, should be interesting.
Heaslip being Captain again shows a decision has been taken for next year. He will be Leinster's next Captain it seems. Might do him good. He seems to have turned Complacency Corner and is more focused now. Good timing.
Hope its a great game for both sets of fans.
Did I mention Edinburgh & Leinster are in the HC SF's? Could this be a dress-rehearsal for the Final? Tune in.
I love this time of year.

Re: Edinburgh Vs Leinster (tomorrow)
Read a nice quote the other day.
"The RDS is Leinster's Showground. Lansdowne is our Playground"
Auva'a has been excellent, Fan. I agree. Always involved, constantly strives to break the line and is a great ball-carrier. No worries about him at all. He always brings added-value to the shirt.
Also agree with Pete. Would have had Macken at 13, starting along with McFadden at 12. Darcy doesn't need more game time. Would have been a better bench option. Shame O Malley is injured.

McFaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaden! This is such an open game. No one tell me the PRO12 is not a strong league. Best league to watch thats for sure.
Hmmm, place-kicking is not the Georgie Best. We have Isa (near 90%) and Madigan, who can kick if this continues...
McFadden is on fire besides.

Story Billy lad? Hows tricks bud?
And one for yerself Rodders there, mo chara.
We need to change kickers. Try Madigan, Joe. May be the boost for him to complete an otherwise perfect game. Not to mention the boost to his confidence. And he is a very confident already.
Big call Joe.
It will be Isa Id bet.
