Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership - Season 1
Thought Goode was very good today, seems to look more comfortable the higher the level of rugby and could be a real challenger to Foden (who lacks a top draw kicking game and can run blind sometimes).
Farrell should be nowhere near an England jersey, needs to play 10 for Sarries more. I'd look to get Ford involved and groom him for the future rather than persist with Farrell.
England in AI:
1. Corbs (Marler)
2. Hartley (Gray) (need a better hooker)
3. Cole (PDJ)
4. Lawes (Launchbury)
5. Parling (Palmer) (Need better at 4 & 5)
6. Croft (Johnson)
7. Robshaw (Wood)
8. Morgan (Waldroum)
9. Youngs (Care)
10. Flood (Ford)
11. May (Strettle, Benjamin, Sharples?)
12. Tuilagi (Barritt)
13. JJ (Lowe)
14. Ashton (Wade)
15. Foden (Goode, Brown)

Manu is devastating but doesn't offload enough and shoots the line way too much in defence. Some carrier though

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership - Season 1
Yeah about him shooting out of the line - what would you say if you were Lancaster?
Looks like a hero if he makes his tackle and it shows good desire but left us in trouble a couple of times when he missed the tackle. Needs to stop doing it so often.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership - Season 1
I agree with most of your team Pooly. However I think Garvey needs to be looked at ahead of launchberry. Think giving him swore more time to develop at wasps would be good as there are a few mOre options before we blood a talent like him.
Would have loved croft to have become a second row. That ability would allow us to play him and Wood. He weighs the same as S Whitelock after all.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership - Season 1
I must admit I haven't too much to suggest Garvey is better than what we have, not sure if he's any better than Botha. I put Launchbury in as desperation really as we seriously lack options at 4 & 5.
Parling is a good lineout lock but not great carrier, after him there's Robson whos an even worse carrier and not as good in the lineout.
4 is desperate with Palmer on the downward, Botha solid and Lawes injury prone.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership - Season 1
I think his attributes would be similar to most, but he others a mentality which we need in the set up, of which is sheer bloody-mindedness to impose himself upon the opposition.
I wouldn't mind Parling as a starter, so along as the we get the combinations right. Either Parling and a serious physical enforcer to take up his slack or two very good second rows that can do the job all round the park and in the set piece ala Deacon or Palmer.

I've decided I'm a fan of Foden on the wing, and might suggest Goode as the bench 10

Good luck with the move mate. Did mine 3 weeks ago, took me a week to recover! More bruises doing it than I had after my last game of rugby!

You can still vaguely judge him based on his League performances though. The games are very different but things like his pace, tackling and skills will be the same

SBW is a total professional, if anybody could do a sabbatical in league and come back to union firing it would be him

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership - Season 1
I'd find it impossible to do so. If we are voting down players for Japan, which is still a pro league, then playing in NRL won't cut it for me. Big part of the reason why I went for Steyn and not SBW

Got to question why SBW is doing it? Best 12 in the world right now, tearing it up with the Chiefs.
So the guy has now moved club every season for the last 5 seasons?

Yeah, it seems odd to do now he's made the starting 12 AB jersey his. Be hard to win back. I suppose he's won the World Cup now though

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership - Season 1
Surely SBW will still hold rating till the end of the season though like Fourie did while in Japan last season. His contract isnt up till after the AIs and if he does go to league it will most likely be via Japan first.
All rumours though at this stage. Supposedly hes announcing his decision in 2 weeks so fingers crossed he stays!

I'd wait Drive mate, my contract is ending with my 3GS at the end of August. I would stick with iPhone IMO unless you fancy the new Samsung galaxy they're meant to be funky.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership - Season 1
Not sure who has him in this game, but Michael Lipman retired today due to multiple concussions. He's been playing with the pain since 2009 and apparently learnt how to pass the medical questions on pitch, so he could carry on playing the game. Hard / stupid lad.
Quality player, probably Bath's best 7 of the modern era, unlucky not to get more caps. However, so was Corry, Worsley, Armitage, Ward-Smith, all from the same era.

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership - Season 1
Dont think I can put a full team out, as didn't see all of the Wales and Irish games, but here are the performances that impressed me
Healy, BDP, Kefu, Kruger, Alberts, Pietersen, Habana, JDV, Halfpenny, JD2, Tuilagi, Care, Tupuric, Ryan
Those that didnt (either because they were poor, or just over hyped)
Marler, Morgan, Youngs, Botha, Etzebeth, Beast, Houghaard, Morne Steyn, Weepu, Welsh hookers

Re: Fantasy Aviva Premiership - Season 1
Read missed the 3rd test but started both the first two games.
Really liked Romano but one test in a blow out game wasn't enough for me.
Alberts was great but think SOB and Pocock were both immense.
I didnt think much of JDV to be honest. Moved to 13 to combat Tuilagi and lead the defence but got shoved around a fair bit by Manu. Donnacha Ryan definately worth a shout though forget about him!

Whitelock is probably my favourite lock. Always thought him and POC would be an immense partnership. Would need an extra carrier in the front and back rows, but still class.
In fact, spurred me on to do my 'favourite player XV'. Not neccessarily the best, just the guys I love watching.
