Maguire in the past hasn't won many of the closer matches, and Ali has done it alot over time. Maguire needs to atleast be 4-4 cause he isn't very good at clawing back frames..

I mean 'clawing back deficits'.

Who has looked the most confident player so far?

I'd say Carter has billy. The first two frames were really scrappy affairs with no breaks to speak of. Mags won them both but in reality the quality was pretty poor. Carter then made a couple of decent breaks in frame three, and a lovely break in frame 4. Mags didn't really have a look-in either frame (well he missed one pot in frame 3).

Cheers MfC. I would love to see Mags in the final but Carter has impressed me no end these Worlds.

One of the best worlds ever for me, regardless of who wins.... I thought last years was very low quality.

Last years was all about Judd Trump, he shone in what was otherwise a poor tournement.

Probably why he got to the final.

Meanwhile Maguire is just starting to simmer.

This is really poor quality save for that 91 break by Ali. Maguire is inching away point by point but can't get on a colour.

aha see this was my point from yesterday! the ones who had the easier QF would be under cooked...

hope it's only true for this one though, and that somehow Stevens is immune to it later

Maguire's final was obviously against Hendry... maybe Hendry's retirement has affected Maguire's concentration?

Maguire isn't really undercooked. He's potted some tremendous balls but is getting no luck (plus the table is horrendous).

Really, really fast. It's the new cloth. Plus the cushions are giving funny bounces. Kind of like the first session of the R v R match.
