Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has stayed in Africa this week as part of its build up to the Heineken Cup final, and attached itself to Barrels restaurant in Luderitz, Namibia, known for its beer, Eisbein and sing-a-longs.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Simon Danielli, Federico Aramburu and the possibly Auckland-bound Joe Schmidt.

Evening everyone
I'm currently on the hunt for any raffle prizes to help raise funds to kit out my 10s team, if in anyway you feel you could help us please let me know.
It can be anything from a tin of beans to whatever you want it to be.
All prizes would be appreciated and some will even appear on Ebay at a later date to which i will try and get around to posting links to.
Thanks

Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
Dublin will be the epicentre of European club rugby when the Irish capital stages both the Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup finals in May 2013.
Tournament organisers, ERC, have announced that the RDS will be the venue for the Amlin Challenge Cup final on Friday, 17 May, 2013 with the Heineken Cup showpiece going ahead the following day at the nearby Aviva Stadium as the main event of a weekend festival double-header.
With the two finals being played in close proximity, up to 70,000 supporters will flock to the city to savour what has become an unmissable weekend festival of European club rugby.
2013 will be the third occasion that the Heineken Cup final has been staged in Dublin, while next year will be the first time that Dublin has hosted the Amlin Challenge Cup final. The public ticket allocation for both 2013 finals will go on sale on Monday, 21 May at 12.00 noon with full details on www.ercrugby.com

Evening good people.
I've had an invite from Ticketmaster to apply early for tickets for the finals in Dublin next year. Gold tickets for both games are €99 and €75 for 'standard'. The difference between the two is not clear, but they cover both finals.
Not sure how many tickets I'm allowed to apply for.

MICKADO - Happy Birthday
ALL - are any of the regs heading out to The Stoop on Friday but NOT going to the final. I know people are heading out to meet Ozzy but are they all going to the final, heading out and going to a pub near the Stoop or are some staying in a pub in central London ? I just need to know if I get my ticket from Kairdif to Paddington or to Twickenham Thanks in advance

Morning folks.
Hound, i saw that email about the 2 tickets for next year. not sure what the difference is but €75 aint bad for a pair of tickets. I have a feeling this one will sell out early, a load of Irish people will be on a rugby high this weekend regardless of the result. I really like the idea that I can walk from my place to the HC final.

Penfro, I am not going to be able to go to the final myself as I can't afford it so will just be going along to meet a few people and have a quick pint. I finish work at 4 so should be in Twickenham or wherever everyone is going to be by around 5.

Declan Kidney is announcing the Irish preliminary tour for Barbarians and New Zealand today.
Prediction: Board to go into meltdown despite Deccie picking an extended squad of about 60 players.

ASBO - sound I'll get my ticket for Friday from Kairdif to Twickenham. Then a single back from Paddington for Sunday. - works out £1.50 more than a Kairdif - Paddington return

Penfro - see my earlier post about Friday. I'm not sure if anyone is going to Twickenham but not to. the game. I will be watching the Amlin final at the ' Wasps' pub in Marylebone.
Mickado - that's what I thought about the tickets. Would need to bring about half a mill tocover beer and food though.

Maybe the way you drink mate
€100 for a night out is the low end of things usually. What recession? Re-Session more like it.

Morning all.
Happy birthday 'Kado
I don't have a ticket to the Amlin, but I think I'll try to duck out to the Stoop for a quick catch up, as I can then do a dash down to Acton for an Aussie friend's moving home party (she's taking advantage of the Indoor Netball World Champs being in Brisbane this year, so she heads over to play for England, and stays there).

Why can't this be delayed until after the HEC final? Surely this just serves as a distraction to the players on the eve of the biggest club game of the season?

He's going to announce all the players! Is this the actual tour squad or a hedge your bets, extended squad with players who have no hope in hell of traveling?
The Barbarians squad has been named anyway;
Backs - Isa Nacewa (Fiji), Mils Muliaina (New Zealand), Ian Balshaw (England), Cedric Heymans (France), Shane Williams (Wales), Paul Sackey (England), Sailosi Tagicakibau (Samoa), Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu (Samoa), Mike Tindall (England), Damien Traille (France), Felipe Contepomi (Argentine), Stephen Donald (New Zealand), Stephen Jones (Wales), Rory Lawson (Scotland), Jerome Fillol (France)
Forwards - Schalk Brits (South Africa), Benoit August (France), John Smit (South Africa), Aled de Malmanche (New Zealand), John Afoa (New Zealand), Duncan Jones (Wales), B J Botha (South Africa), Neemia Tialata (New Zealand), Jerome Thion (France), Mick O'Driscoll (Ireland), Anton van Zyl (South Africa), Pelu Taele (Samoa), Raphael Lakafia (France), Antoine Burban (France), Akupusi Qera (Fiji), John Beattie (Scotland), Pedrie Wannenburg (South Africa), Juan Manuel Leguizamon (Argentina)
It's a wonderful group of players this time, the kind of calibre of squad the Barbarians always aim for but sometimes fail to get these days. Would love to see Nacewa, Afoa and Wannenburg get to line out against Ireland.
