Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has stayed in Africa this week as part of its build up to the Heineken Cup final, and attached itself to Barrels restaurant in Luderitz, Namibia, known for its beer, Eisbein and sing-a-longs.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Simon Danielli, Federico Aramburu and the possibly Auckland-bound Joe Schmidt.

Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
Calon Lan - English translation (it doesn't rhyme because it's a direct translation)
I don't ask for a luxurious life,
the world's gold or its fine pearls,
I ask for a happy heart,
an honest heart, a pure heart.
A pure heart full of goodness
Is fairer than the pretty lily,
None but a pure heart can sing,
Sing in the day and sing in the night.
If I wished for worldly wealth,
It would swiftly go to seed;
The riches of a virtuous, pure heart
Will bear eternal profit.
(Chorus)
Evening and morning, my wish
Rising to heaven on the wing of song
For God, for the sake of my Saviour,
To give me a pure heart.
It's a hymn I will have a my funeral. Get's me every blydi time
Ah - well I'll stop watching then. Who won, some talentless tw@t/s with a heart wrenching storyline

I bet Cowell is chuffed his £250,000 is going to be spent on Winalot.
Look on the bright side Simon, you've got South East Asia nailed, forget singing for your supper, "Roll-up! Roll-up! Come and watch your dinner dancing!"
I laughed so hard I damn near shat myself.

OK, that's another angle Glas, I hadn't considered that one, I suppose it's a possibility but I doubt it.

Dreamer, a dab of TCP and a fag for that - works a treat.
Glas, OK, I'm willing to admit your theory has some legs, but if there is a voting conspiracy, how come some proper talent always makes it through to the final?
Surely the conspirators would just vote pish through and watch him squirm for a week or two rather than just one night?

Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
The game was average tonight, but I thought Glasgow were virtuosic at the breakdown under pressure. Okay they screwed up with the yellow card and a few offsides but when Leinster where knocking on the door and Glasgow produced a steal from somewhere... they really dug deep. It was just a mismatch and class told but they sure as hell kept it interesting. Chris Fusaro- what a star. Just come from the left field. And their defence was consistently class all game.
There was still a lot to be appreciated in the game tonight from the neutral point of view, to be fair.

I didn't get to see any rugby today bud, working till 7.00 and got back to Mrs Holybloke watching The Voice followed by BGT.
From what I've read Leinster were pushed and the result was a fair reflection of the game. Where did/does Fusaro come from?

He's come through the Scottish Rugby Elite Player development thingy (thats its official name btw) but he's only in his second season of pro rugby. Being an openside flanker you would think he'd have a job on his hands dislodging John Barclay from the team, except he's actually managed to do that this season!
I'd rather watch Ulster lose than some of the stuff on TV now; there's always hope until the final whistle blows, whereas Simon Cowells mere visage drains me of hope I should be careful not sound snobbish here, but I'm very literally a better human being than anyone who watches that show
Nah, that stuff is alright. Like crystal meth. You know you shouldn't but once you get into it...

One to watch for the future then, I was a 7 so I generally follow what they get up to during a game, have to admit he's not even been on my radar - not that I get to see a great deal of the Pro 12 other than HC rounds.
He must be doing the business to oust Barclay though looks like Scotland will have plenty of back row options to play with, if only they had a game-breaking 10...

John Barclay has actually been playing 8 a bit, started there today to accommodate the young fella. I suppose if I told you Glasgow started two specialist groundhogs in the backrow you won't be surprised they spent the full game trying to slow down and steal ball.

It's not an uncommon problem amongst a lot of guys I know- consensus seems to be to beat a tactical retreat on this issue in order to remain strong on other fronts. Sometimes you have to lose a battle to win the war

Sometimes I find it best to keep my mouth shut and keep my teeth, feck the war.
OK, so Barclay at 8 then - makes a bit more sense, but still impressive to have a player of Barclay's ability move in order to accommodate him.
I love watching a good scrap at the breakdown to be fair, it can be quite absorbing when it's done well; of course, a lot of the entertainment value can be lost when the ref's a clueless pie-can.
If it's reffed right a free-for-all on the deck is a spectacle, but when the reffing is ambiguous - it's a proper turn-off.
Which one was it tonight?

Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
A mixture of both. Glasgow made some fantastic and entirely legal turnovers.
Clancy is a fairly consistent ref, and very whistle happy. It was very evident that Leinster had familiarised themselves with his blind spots and the issues he's strict on whilst Glasgow didn't manage him as well.
I don't really like Clancy but I understand why he's such a highly rated referee. He's consistent and pretty strict on a lot of things. Still feel he's far from perfect. He can be utilised by a well-drilled side.

Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
Hmm. Now I only saw the first half of Leinster v Glasgow, but I thought both teams were trying to play an open game. Glasgow, like Edinburgh in the HC semi, were guilty of too many handling errors from what I saw.
What is it with Scottish backs and continually dropping the feicing ball. Their 7s team were not much better v Portugal in the London 7s earlier.
So, the same final as two years ago in the Pro 12, and a new challenger to Tigers in the AP. 8 Premiership finals in a row for Tigers.
Having lost 5 out of their first 6 games this season, that is some achievement.
I wouldn't want to call the winners in either final after these play offs.

Good Morning lurkers and shirkers
I thought last night's game was actually pretty clinical. from Leinster - they wanted to get the job done which they did. I thought Glasgow played very well - their defence was superb. I said at one point during the match from an O's point of view, I was dreading them at home more than Leinster away at the minute. Glasgow can look back on a superb season in the Rab with great pride anyway. Their track record has been brilliant. I hope D'Arcy's all right for next weekend, but he was concussed I think so could he miss out?
I'm still miffed about the final being on a poxy Sunday evening though.

Careful driving through France Rev, I did it a few years back and the number of halfwits on the wrong side of the road is astounding. I mean the way they were getting on you'd think I was the one in the wrong. Luckily for me a nice policeman took me away from the idiots and let me stay in a nice room until the fuss died down. He even escorted me onto a free flight home.

Morning
Cari from Schmidts post match interview D'arcy will be fine but O'Malley and BOD are doubts, neither are expected to train until thursday.
Schmidt was complaining about the 7 day turn around, apparantly the Rabo administrators wouldn't allow the 2 games to be switched.
Sounds like hes getting his excuses in early.....

I think Leinster will do the double.
It will be hard on Gibbo, I really feel for him. Mickado and Hoog are young enough to recover from losing two finals in as many weeks though.

Re: Barrel's Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub & Restaurant, Luderitz
Afternoon pawb, hope everyone's well.
It's a gorgeous day. I'm a bit annoyed I've slept the morning away. woke up at 7am thinking "ah no worries I'll get up at like 9" next thing I know it was 12 noon!
Just waiting for the Grand Prix to start before I head out on a walk, tis far too nice to spend the whole time indoors. Love days like this, the sky is officially my favourite colour of blue today

F1 vs premiership football. Hmmm actually on second thoughts I might avoid the football all together. Chicken madras for lunch. Going to attempt it from scratch.
