Aberdeen's Plans for a New Stadium Approved
http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20120525/club-statement_2212158_2788124
"Aberdeen have put back their planned move to a new stadium by 12 months to summer 2014. Plans for a 21,000-seat stadium at Loirston Loch were approved by the city council and Scottish Government early last year, with the Pittodrie site sold for future housing development. However, issues with land at the new site mean the Dons will continue using their current home for at least two more years. "While the delay is disappointing, such is the scale of the project, it is imperative to ensure we are not giving ourselves unrealistic deadlines to work towards and we can now carry on with planning for a further two full seasons at Pittodrie," said Aberdeen chief executive Duncan Fraser in a club statement."
To me, this is a waste of money. They can't fill the stadium they currently have so why are they wanting to build a new one?

That really makes sense for a club with no money and very few fans to build a new stadium in a league which is currently going down the toilet.
If they want a new stadium they should move into Cove Rangers ground, they might even fill it.

Not about the stadium, it's about freeing up ground for building houses...
Agree that it doesn't need to be 21000 but the Pittodrie upkeep is costing enough as it is that a new stadium (maybe smaller) makes sense. Think they want it big enough so it can host international games/other sports though. Also makes sense delaying it, especially at this time.

I think they are doing a similar thing to what St Mirren did and selling the land Pittodrie is on so it covers the cost of the new stadium and may even put a few quid i n the bank.
No need for 21000 though they couldn't fill that if it was free to get in.

Its got nothing to do with wanting a new stadium and it being a waste of money. Pittodrie is falling apart hence why we need to move.
