Roland Garros - Day 10
First topic message reminder :
Thought I'd take my turn.
Djokovic v Tsonga.
Could stretch Noles nerves, as he'll have the crowd very much against him, which he's been known to be a bit funny about. Djokovic in 4.
Federer v Del Potro.
Fed may approach this with more confidence than he would have Berdych, as he seems to have been owning JMDP this year. Then again, he did him up like a kipper at AO 2009 and was lucky to get past him at the French. The cold damp conditions may help Del Boy too. However I think Federer will move the big man around more than he likes. Fed in 4, maybe 5 though I think it may be one of those annoying matches where he looks weak.
Do I have to do the Womens? No, I should;
Cibulkova v Stosaur
Stosaur. In 3 interminable sets.
Errani v Kerber
I have no idea who these people are.

Two awesome quarters, would the other half generate atleast half the entertainment like these quarters?

If Fed can get this into a 4th set quickly, I fancy his chances of taking this match however the longer it goes on, the less I believe Fed can win it.

Credit to Tsonga, some mighty hitting. His net play is driving me crackers though, his volleys are a liability!

Big hold that from Fed, nice to see him bringing out the slice and drop shot, it clearly causes DP problems. You can't rally with DP, its like it with Nadal it can't be done.

I don't want to put a Jinx on Djokovic but there is absolutely no way, no way possible that Djokovic could lose this set.

Re: Roland Garros - Day 10
I would rather Federer got a 2nd break at 5-2 so he will serve first in the 4th rather than at 4-1 but beggars can't be choosers! And Del Potro coming back is not out of the question whatsoever

DP has hit some mighty shots, incredible power. Fed needs to hold on here. Drop shots winning the points for Fed, more of the same please...

Crucial point in the 3rd set in the Tsonga-Djoko match, deuce on Djoko's serve

In terms of match ups, do you think Nadal is watching the Federer v Del Potro match thinking I would actually prefer Roger to come back and win?

Re: Roland Garros - Day 10
Well well, what a surprise, so Djokovic either has to dig deep or it's over, no 4 in a row....where is socal where you need him? Didn't he say Tsonga has no chance?!

CAS, you seem to have got your wish, Fed will possibly serve first in the 4th set!

Tsonga up 2 sets to 1. Can he hang on?

You mean 3rd Martyr? Let's not get ahead of ourselves! I'm hoping Fed can take this to a 5th set, will really set the tournament on fire, especially of Tsonga wins today too! Seems like the crowd is irritating Djokovic!

Nadal would certainly wish a Roger win, this DP would be too hot to handle even for this vintage Rafa on clay.

Djoko is finished, He is scared of Tsonga & crowd

Re: Roland Garros - Day 10
What a backhand winner by Tsonga to take the third! Roger is hanging in there gamely.
Both men are going to have to win this in five to advance. This long match would hurt Roger more than Djokovic should they survive.

Massive opening service game for Fed, must win it quickly and attack the DP 2nd serves.

Re: Roland Garros - Day 10
I am wondering, it would be quite a shock if we ended up with a Tsonga Vs Delpo semis, although I do think @ one of the big 2 will make the semis, even though it looks unlikely!

I don't wish to jinx Djokovic, but there is no way, absolutely no way Djokovic is losing this match. It is just a question whether the next set will be a bagel or a breadstick.laverfan wrote:Tsonga up 2 sets to 1. Can he hang on?

I'm not so sure, obviously Nadal would prefer Fed but let's not forget he too is in superb form and it's easier for him to retrieve Del potro's heavy groundstrokes on clay plus he has the ability to send Delpo scrambling from side to side, something I'm not sure Delpo can withstand with his knee niggles
These quarters are both finely poised for the 'underdog' seeds. I love tennis!

Re: Roland Garros - Day 10
when Fed slices it, DP has no answers, his movement is all over the place, why has it taken till the 4th set to realise this. Fed has broke, nice easy hold will be welcome.

Re: Roland Garros - Day 10
I wonder if DP is feeling that injury.
He seems noticeably more sluggish or it could just be tiredness

Injured? Please, give us a break, Fed has improved his level to get back into this match, to anyone watching that's obvious. Look how Fed has got his breaks in early in the 3rd set and 4th set.

Delpo in some sort of pain it seems, not much movement, seems to have spent himself in first 2 sets.
