Roland Garros - Day 10
First topic message reminder :
Thought I'd take my turn.
Djokovic v Tsonga.
Could stretch Noles nerves, as he'll have the crowd very much against him, which he's been known to be a bit funny about. Djokovic in 4.
Federer v Del Potro.
Fed may approach this with more confidence than he would have Berdych, as he seems to have been owning JMDP this year. Then again, he did him up like a kipper at AO 2009 and was lucky to get past him at the French. The cold damp conditions may help Del Boy too. However I think Federer will move the big man around more than he likes. Fed in 4, maybe 5 though I think it may be one of those annoying matches where he looks weak.
Do I have to do the Womens? No, I should;
Cibulkova v Stosaur
Stosaur. In 3 interminable sets.
Errani v Kerber
I have no idea who these people are.

But there are always two Djokovics to beat.Mad for Chelsea wrote:you see, this is what I was talking about for Tsonga, get the crowd going, get them cheering wildly your every point, suddenly Djokovic's body language goes a bit negative, Tsonga looks to have renewed energy, and we have a match on our hands!
You start beating the first Djokovic, maybe you win a set or two, and this first Djokovic looks exhausted and ready for defeat. But then along comes Djokovic number two who seems unbreakable and indefatigable and crushes the opponent. As yet Djokovic number two hasn't been called in.
Of course to beat Djokovic, you need to be expecting the Djokovic number two to arrive, and then try to outlast him / outpower him.

true, but Tsonga is at least doing a decent job of making Djokovic mk II appear...

Tsonga finding some inner belief and pulling out some crazy shots atm. Superb stuff.

Moanovic is blaming everything but himself today. What a shyt set for a number 1 player, getting the run around from a poor mans Ljubicic.

The eurosport commentator is hopeless.
Twice he has stated that DP has won 2 of his 9 meetings against Fed.

Federer with a dreadful slice to hand the break back.

Tsonga takes the set. Hitting the lines at the moment, but can he keep it up for the whole game?

It's almost as if Federer cannot seem to find his game. He gives the break back to Del Po after getting a lead.

Pathetic display from Federer today, or shall I say this whole tournament.

Re: Roland Garros - Day 10
Federer playing at pretty much the level he's been playing so far this tournament. It won't be enough to beat Del Potro (who's playing decent, but not spectacular tennis). Djokovic gesticulating frustratingly every time he misses a shot.

The Fedmeister doesnt seem to understand that the consistency required in modern day tennis doesn't allow you to shank every few minutes.
But maybe he thinks he's too good to play with a bigger racketface.

another mini-battle overcome by Tsonga there, who holds with two very solid points after being pegged back to deuce.

Ah gosh, seriously though Fed was on the way out there but somehow he's dug in and saved the situation, let's hope he can take this second set and he might play more consistently thereafter!

Re: Roland Garros - Day 10
Moanervic incompetence to handle an easy player like Tsonga, nearly everytime they play, says what a fluke his career has been. Had the 2nd set in hands at 3-1 then shanks it up better than Fed.

If only that forehand at 40-30 was a few inches inside. Oh well, it's been this kind of tournament for Federer.

Re: Roland Garros - Day 10
a rubbish game from Tsonga, as he makes four awful errors to gift Djokovic the initiative. The "highlight" being a point where he first plants a simple volley at his opponent, before doing the same with an easy overhead, only to plonk his next resulting overhead into the bottom half of the net

Scotland will win the World Cup before Tsonga stops gifting crappy games away with the pressure on the other player..

yep, that shot was unlucky, but in general Fed's standard of play has been pretty poor so far. At first I thought it was because he hasn't had to play that well, but on today's evidence I'm having doubts.

I think Federer is on the verge of playing really well, he's showing flashes mixed with errors. He is only going to get better, but has to win this tiebreak

very naughty from Djokovic there, pointing to the wrong mark. The umpire corrects him though, and a big serve from Tsonga duly gives him the game.

When Fed slices, plays drop shots and and comes to the net he'll beat DP, but he's going toe to toe with him and he's getting blasted out of here, like anyone would.
