How do you defend against that?
All our good play, all our endeavour and we've only three points to show for it. Then they do that. Special try.

The score is no where near a reflection of the match. Things could go pear shaped from here.

I didnt think your were allowed to lean on a player, i thought you had to support your own weight?
Correct - leaning on player on the ground is the same as being on the ground.

McFadden? That was Earls' fault. He tackled the wrong man and cut McF off.

He wasn't leaning on the player though. Watch the replay again. The player on the ground was not supporting his weight.

a bit irrelevant perhaps, but does anyone else think Heaslip is looking a bit podgy and just a bit out of shape?
NZ really starting too look dangerous here now.

Earls was as culpable as McF. Great try but too easy. O'Mahony showing his 7 skills. Can't let the heads drop or we'll be dead by half time.
RD, I've thought Heaslip's looked like a fat lump for about a season and a half.

I'd take a couple of penalties and get some composure back. Make sure New Zealand don't score again before half time or it could turn into a rout. Apart from the past 5 minutes there is no way New Zealand are 13 points better

Glad it's not just me thinking that about Heaslip then!
Been watching him closely today to, he needs to really up his game, he's having a v quiet one work rate wise compared to the rest of the Irish backrow.

If we don't get points the whole of Munster, led by DOD, will lynch Sexton for going for the corner

Really poor decision from Sexton to kick for the corner, and dreadful from O'Driscoll there. A real lack of composure here from Ireland.

Re: Ireland V All Blacks - Teams Announced and Matchday Thread
Well... good lineout but then we didn't get the maul set quickly enough, we weren't going forward and then when Murray had to use it our backline were on the backfoot and under pressure. And suddenly we're defending on our own line!

It was the right call, BOD is at fault for the complete breakdown of it. First thign you're taught at underage. Don't shovel out shoite! Don't force the offload if it's not there!

If this was any other side than NZ Ireland would be leading by now. Just shows how much better than everyone else they are. Even though we're almost certainly going to lose now I'm still very encouraged by the style of play so far.

Re: Ireland V All Blacks - Teams Announced and Matchday Thread
Listen lads in the context of the game it was a poor call. We needed the points desperately, and if you are a good kicker as Sexton is then you need to back yourself to put those over. Tiger, you are right, BOD shoulders the blame there too. I can't believe we are 21-3 down. for most of the match we have been pretty good, but NZ are so clinical and we lack basic composure at key times.
