Euro 2012: Day 2 Thread
First topic message reminder :
Netherlands v Denmark (17:00, BBC 1)
Germany v Portugal (19:45, BBC 1)
Three big teams start their tournaments tomorrow and will be very eager to impress. Gonna say 3-0 Holland and 0-0 between Germany and Portugal.

Poor game so far, neither team looks very assured on the ball.

Re: Euro 2012: Day 2 Thread
All the games so far, bar the first, have been one team dominating possession while the other team sits back and tries to break. The games all then open up when a goal is scored.
So hurry up Germany or Portugal!

Re: Euro 2012: Day 2 Thread
The first half was just the sparring I guess, Germany shading it despite Pepe nearly scoring towards the end. This game will probably be 0-0 or settled with a late winner. Portugal looking cagey and not sending too many men forward while Germany are looking to draw Portugal out. Like Crimey says, the game will open up when a goal is scored.
Be interesting to see if UEFA carry out the threat of abandoning the game if German fans continue throwing the 'soft' missiles.

For the next year or longer every time some team plays defensively it's going to be compared to Barca vs Chelsea.

He's a pretty awful commentator anyway.
I like all the play by play guys, but the colour ones are all really boring. Keown, Lawrenson, Bright.
As much as I don't like Andy Gray as a person, he's the kind of commentator you want.

Lawrenson is trending on Twitter anyway.
Ironically I saw somebody with Papa Lazarou as their picture complaining about the Eddie the Eel comment.

Perfect header from Mario Gomez, shame for Portugal as they've had the better of the 2nd half. Is there a twist to come?

Biggest hyped game so far but the poorest game so far.
This is the one I was looking forward to most out of the first round of games as well.

The Portugal chance should have been put away, alright save by Neuer, but really he should have lifted the ball rather than hitting on the ground.

It's been terrible at best. Hopefully the Italy/Spain match will deliver.

Good win for Germany, that was a potential banana skin. Should be a good round of games on Wednesday by which time the group will have taken shape. Wonder if UEFA will take action over the German fans misbehaving.

They should do but whether they will or not is another matter.

I can see that being the most boring match so far.
Spain will pass it around the defence for an hour while Italy stay firm.
