- Spoiler:
Would anybody be up for a realistic league using the premier league? Have 16 teams, cut the three promoted sides and one other team out as it makes cup running easier and easier to get all the managers in. Different teams would have different targets for the managers. Some of the teams like Man United and Man City would want a title win, whilst some of the lower teams like Norwich would see it as an achievement to avoid relegation. Each season would last fifteen weeks, with tactics due by Friday night and match results announced on a Monday morning, so we have a Premier League weekend.
Tactics and the team played would both be taken into account when deciding on a result, so shocks can happen, if a small side is set up much better than they can draw or even win games despite playing a better side on paper, just like what would happen in real life. At the end of each season the bottom three are relegated, top four get into a Champions League with four foreign teams, the next four into the Europa League and the bottom eight into FA Cup. But for the first season everyone takes part in an FA Cup, which would be easy to run with 16 teams.
The teams would be done via a random draw, but if managers both agree then swaps are allowed, and also any manager can swap their side for one of the promoted sides if they would prefer a challenge with a lower team.

Re: Realistic Premier League
I shall see. But I want the league to be competitive. I want each and every team to be managed by a competent guy. But if no one is willing to give it a go, then I will do thispuntingred wrote:There isn't as far as I'm aware.
And you should consider it giving it a bash mate, these leagues are a good way to develop footballing knowledge

I have no idea at present with my team!
At present 6 players I know I want in my team, the rest I'm probably looking at foreigns.

Yeah it's certainly not a bad platform to start from, and with the transfers in place so far I've raised my kitty to hopefully bring some other players in over the coming week.

Re: Realistic Premier League
Yeah I've got about £12M left, I've guesstimated I can get that up to about £18M with releases, so that'll be enough for my two first XI signings and a couple of squad players

Re: Realistic Premier League
I've managed to accrue 30m for transfers now before releases so that should fill me out nicely and perhaps treat myself to one marque signing.

Demba Ba is someone I'm willing to sell for cash btw.

Good to see we have the final manager, I'll update the page now and transfers will be officially open soon.
Releases will open tonight, if that's when Olly said is okay.

Re: Realistic Premier League
Am I right in thinking we get money for our releases? If so how much would I get for Morrison and Fortune?

Re: Realistic Premier League
Mocking, yes, you'll get half their usual market value.
I can't say because that's my job. Olly is in charge of that. Post the players you want to release on their page.
Hero
If everyone could please make sure they confirm all of their transfers on the confirmation page.

Guys I will do releases tonight when I am on a PC. Just nipped on on my phone but I'm out. And TM will be used as a rough guidline but ultimately it's my decision. Any arguing will result in me getting your star player

Re: Realistic Premier League
Trebs, did you make a decision on upping the number of foreigns that could be made prior to the first game?
And also what level should we think of our clubs to be so we have a rough idea of players that we could attract? Are we considered as the clubs are in RL (so Chelsea can attract pretty much anyone, Reading etc would struggle)

Im presuming people like Kagawa are no goes except for the club they've joined otherwise it would just be weird

Re: Realistic Premier League
Hero, I will consult with TSC tonight about it, sorry I forgot last night in all the excitement of the Spain-Portugal game.
I think that's it, we're considered as the clubs would be IRL. At the end of the first season more players will join the league though, for example you could argue that you are league champions, FA Cup winners etc. to attract better players.
Then at the end of the second season, there will be the Champions League winners argument, which would attract better players still.

Re: Realistic Premier League
Well if the clubs themselves are sort of brought in from the point of the end of last season then at the time the likes of Arsenal etc were in the hunt for Kagawa (and Hazard) so I presume they have as much chance.

Surprised by that, Newcastle are thought of as the bees knees in these games at present so you should be able to fetch top whack for Cisse etc

Re: Realistic Premier League
Well I got good deals for Cabaye & Tiote which improved my first team
But Im suprised no one has taken Ba off of me or actually made a sensible offer for Cisse
Still, should have enough for the RB & AM I want; it's just about whether the squad will be good enough

Re: Realistic Premier League
What are people's thoughts on foreign transfers?
Should it be the highest bidder gets the player or first come first served.
So if for example, I bid 10m for Klose, then later on that day Hero bids 12m for Klose, who should get the player?

Re: Realistic Premier League
I think if someone bids £12 million for Klose they need to be assessed for their sanity...
Either way I think reasons/club prowess should be more important that price

Re: Realistic Premier League
I think that whoever bids first, gets the first shot at contract talks with the player. If the player is happy to join the club and the transfer is realistic, then he can join them. If not, he can talk to the second club and if the player wants to sign then that's fine, as long as he's rejected the first offer.
After an offer as been placed for a player, the second bid must at least match it, all offers need to have reasons as to why they want the player to sign for their club
