- Spoiler:
Would anybody be up for a realistic league using the premier league? Have 16 teams, cut the three promoted sides and one other team out as it makes cup running easier and easier to get all the managers in. Different teams would have different targets for the managers. Some of the teams like Man United and Man City would want a title win, whilst some of the lower teams like Norwich would see it as an achievement to avoid relegation. Each season would last fifteen weeks, with tactics due by Friday night and match results announced on a Monday morning, so we have a Premier League weekend.
Tactics and the team played would both be taken into account when deciding on a result, so shocks can happen, if a small side is set up much better than they can draw or even win games despite playing a better side on paper, just like what would happen in real life. At the end of each season the bottom three are relegated, top four get into a Champions League with four foreign teams, the next four into the Europa League and the bottom eight into FA Cup. But for the first season everyone takes part in an FA Cup, which would be easy to run with 16 teams.
The teams would be done via a random draw, but if managers both agree then swaps are allowed, and also any manager can swap their side for one of the promoted sides if they would prefer a challenge with a lower team.

Re: Realistic Premier League
If £8 million for example was accepted by a club for a player why would a second club bid more? The money doesn't reach the player so it shouldn't make any difference
Re: Realistic Premier League
Will the clubs location have an effect on transfers? Some players might prefer to move to London rather than somewhere else.

Does anyone have an issue with me removing Jon Flanagan and adding Joe Cole to my squad? Forgot about his loan, I don't mind if people object

I took Flanagan and Spearing out, I had interest in both, and they're both now available in foreigns to anyone who wants them.
I had a shortage of midfielders anyway

Depends how realistic you want your league to be
1) Can go buy anyone if have money
2) Can buy anyone within reason
3) You can only buy players around your clubs level

Re: Realistic Premier League
I think it should be best reason.
If Manchester United and Chelsea both bid on David Silva and paid the same price, it would come down to the best reason for the player.
United - dont have to move house
Chelsea - fellow Spanish internationals in Mata and Torres

What's going on with the Lukaku and Sturridge bids as they're down as confirmed on the confirmed page but also still being touted about?

They have been confirmed so they are gone from Chelsea surely. You can't sell a player and still try to get money for them

Re: Realistic Premier League
No they are not defo sold yet. The deals were agreed before domestics was officially open. When I came on later both the deals had been confirmed, even though i didnt confirm it witth either manager that it was final. They will be sold just if the next person offers more money, They will win the player.

Re: Realistic Premier League
How does this sound for a slight tweak to the rules which i think would improve it?
If cup games are played midweek, league games at the weekend, have it so nobody who appears in the cup can play in the next league game, to make sure there's squad rotation and managers would have to decide if they want to do well in the cup or not? There would be no injuries for that gameweek.

Re: Realistic Premier League
Might cause a few problems with teams who have 20/21/22 players in their squads though. Overall, I do like the idea but how about a cap on how many changes you have to make minium for cup games then onto league games?

Re: Realistic Premier League
Well, the starting squad is 25, and there's loads of very cheap players you can sign in releases though, and foreigns are not yet open
If need be I could add 5m to everyone's budget before the cup game to give them something to buy some cheap players

Re: Realistic Premier League
I'm just thinking of the lesser sqauds who might have to sell off their reservers in order to have a decent 18/19/20 man squad which can compete with every team. Maybe hand out a extra 2 Million to clubs before the cup starts, and as a extra motive offer cash to the winners of each game after every round.

Re: Realistic Premier League
My plan was to offer prizes for the cup
And I was thinking every four gameweeks, a 5m bonus is added, which would keep transfers happening and is easier to add than adding bonuses every week.
If I did prizes for the cup, they would all be given at the end of the season, along with league prize money, giving the following season's budget

Yes, you can Punting, it's just the original squad that can't be over 25. New squad limit is 30.

Re: Realistic Premier League
Trebs, how about only 3 players can play in both cup and league in the same week? Therefore it is still tactical on who you choose to play in both but allows you to keep a core together?
Re: Realistic Premier League
Thing is, then you could just keep your three best players Greg, the idea is you'd have to drop your best players in the league/cup in order to do well in the other, I'm officially going to add it to the rules now, as other managers seem in favour. There will be a cash boost before the first cup game so that squads can be built up a little more if necessary

You can post your Foreign Transfer bid any time, it just means that if someone else goes for the same player they get the first chance to sign that player. You can post your bid at 3pm, just means you're risking someone else having the chance to sign him before you post.

Foreigns applies to any player not in the league. Regardless of their club. For example, I didn't add Salif Diao to my Stoke squad, therefore anyone could bid for him (not that anyone would).
