Euro 2012
Bit off topic, but bear with me.... My friends and I were trying to compare boxers to international football teams in the Euros.
So in this game we need to find a football team from Euro 2012 and compare them to a current boxer.
Our comparison was:
Spain = Wladimir Klitchsko
Has all the attacking talent and skills, but takes no risks at all and this results in the fight being incredibly boring. Much like the majority of Spain's matches, effective but boring.
Over to you!

Re: Euro 2012
I'll try
Italy-Mayweather, defensively they are brilliant. They never look panicked, will control the game one way or another and also have the attacking arsenal to really hurt their opponents. His countering abilities could be compared to Italy's counter attacks
Germany-Pacquiao, offensively they are as good as they come, can really put there opponents in a bad place like geany did to holland and pacquiao to cotto. However, they can be caught sleeping and can look very ordinary when when against stiff competition on their day like pacquiao with Marquez and Italy with germany

Portugal - James Kirkland
Only one great asset, let down at times by the rest.

Actually that's a massive disservice to the rest of the Portugese team on my part, and I don't rate Cristiano that highly but whatever...

Argentina - Gennady Golovkin
Could compete with the best, but from the wrong part of the world so they're irrelevant to this thread.

Re: Euro 2012
Derek Chisora - France - slightly mental and love a good argument
Joe Calzaghe - Wales - always stay at home
1st post and I have probably offended half the members!

Chagaev - England.
Had a good moment as champion and on his day can beat decent opposition but is nothing special.

Re: Euro 2012
Hmm for those of you watching the final my comparison may not look so true now.. However for most of the games Spain have been incredibly boring to watch. In the final they have been out of this world!

Ricky Hatton - England
OK against the average to decent teams but get beaten when they play the best.

Re: Euro 2012
Pacquiao = Holland - Great offensive players in Vaart, Huntelaar, Robben, Sniejder etc etc but defensivly they are one of the poorest in the top 20 teams in the world.
Mayweather = Spain - Very strong at the back having coneded one goal all tournament. Never conceded a goal against them in a knockout match since 2008. Offensively, at times, they can rip teams to shreds and make them look ordinary such as Mayweather vs Marquez.
Hatton = Germany - No real decent defense at times. Lacking in concentration. Going forward, always shows promise and heart. Always tend to lose against the top teams at the last minute.

Will have to disagree with your comparison. Over time I expect us to look back at this Spain team as rank them as the greatest internation side we have ever seen.
Cant say the same with Wlad.
For me i will go with San Marino = Auldey
(Though to be fair to San Marino, they never go around saying its their destiny to become world champions!)
