The Zone Virtual Sports Bar, Hamilton.
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Zone Sports Bar, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
This week the pub has set up in Sky City Hamilton, where the Crusaders take on the Chiefs in the Super XV semi final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Bradley Wiggins, Ernie Els, Irene van Dyk, Sonny Bill Williams and his newly capped All Black team mate Sam Cane.

Fair play to Team GB and Chris Hoy a lot of respect has been a very tidy ceremony. My bet is on Redgrave to light it.

He is bonkers Rodders. Apologies for my apparently anti british rants everyone. Don't see how it was but if you were offended by them I'm sorry. A difference in opinion doesn't make me anti anything.

oh goodness, I've got the Olympic bug, I'm a little bit gutted now I'll be missing the last 4 days of it. What am I going to do!?
I remember 4 years ago when I lived in Birmingham, I would get up at 5am every day so i could watch over 3 ours of the Olympics live before I had to go to work.
Ah and this song now! 1st year of Uni mun, aaaaah memories....

Don't apologise for it PJ. This has been a quite superb Opening Ceremony. It is a celebration of Britain and sport.
I've loved it.

PJ, I wouldn'#t say Becks deserves it but he is due a lot of credit for some of the work he put in getting the games to London. An overrated footballer I think but he has done some good work off the field. Liking the song here, great fireworks display, tis eclipsing Beijing. Great final act pushed it over.

I think it should be an Olympian and Redgrave and Thompson were 2 of the greatest of all time.
Beckham has done nothing to earn the right. IMHO.
Ah well... twill be grand either way.

Personally, I'd rather die than surrender my opinion. In fact I'd rather die defending someone else's right to an opinion for that matter, don't ever apologise for thinking for yourself T.

The flames are going to be in those weird copper petal things up by the tree aren't they? I think they are all going to be individually lit by past British Olympic Champions.

Personally, I'd rather have had Beckham playing football for GB than being a token addition to the opening ceremony.
Lets face it "Team GB" have no chance at winning a medal, so why not let Beckham have a last run-out?
Pearce just bottled it, he didn't want anyone else muscling in on his big... errr... failure.

Beatles. By a mile. Or 1.6km.
Not a big fan of Coe. More of an Ovett man. But he really deserves all the plaudits for getting and putting this whole gig together. Good man Seb

Becks won't light the flame, he's already had his cameo on the boat
Am glad he wasn't picked for Team GB though, the other three senior players are playing much better football then him right now.

I agree about Becks. I disagree about the other senior players though. None of them should have been there.

Bale said he was injured and then played for Tottenham in a friendly I heard? Poor form in my view. What's Man City got to do with it?

Because Man City announced he was injured and it was man City that played him in the friendly. It's long been known the clubs have often stopped players or well shall we say done their best to persuade players not to always play for their country. Even Sir Alex used to do it with Giggs, not often, but it did happen.
Edit: hahahah oops just remembered he does play for spurs and not city. Blimey, I really do need to sleep. Replace city with spurs in all my posts, they make much more sense then!

Bellamy and Giggs are nearing the end of their sporting days. I think it cool for them to help the kids. All the other teams have the same chance to do the same soo...
Its ALL Pro now.
So, who will light the Flame?

Richards should have in the euro 2012 squad he is a great player thought he was U-23 though. A bit surprised at that. Bale plays with Tottenham though I thought. How did I miss him signing for City?

Ah right I thought I was going crazy for a second (well crazier). Ah I thought he said he was injured, can see why Spurs did it but disappointing some great young players on show from loads of countries though.

Ali again? That was surprising he is a legend and everything but feel it should have been a British guy. You know they gave him another medal for the Olympic one he threw away?
