The Zone Virtual Sports Bar, Hamilton.
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Zone Sports Bar, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
This week the pub has set up in Sky City Hamilton, where the Crusaders take on the Chiefs in the Super XV semi final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Bradley Wiggins, Ernie Els, Irene van Dyk, Sonny Bill Williams and his newly capped All Black team mate Sam Cane.

Quote from the couple of guys sitting behind me
"Who are we cheering for in this one"
"USA. The Aussies came out in track suits. No chance"
The US girls were wearing long sleeve tops and bikini bottoms that match. And in fairness I'd put a jumper on by then too. The Swiss and Greek girls earlier played in bikinis

Morning all
Have been watching the swimming this morning. I have to say, up until I went the torch relay concert at the MadStad a couple of weeks back I was not looking forward to these Olympics. After that and the opening ceremony, I cannot get enough of it.

Im loving it too Ozzy. Its like an old friend that wakes you up every 4 years. And you watch sports that you had never really watched before. Which is great.
The 1st Olympics I can clearly remember was 1972 in Munich. Bad times.

In a way, I wish that we had won the 2016 Olympics and not this one. The two littlest O's are enjoying it and having fun watching things like the swimming and picking who they want to win, but they are so young they will never remember it when they are older which is a shame. In 4 years time, it would have been a memory that would have stuck with them for life.
Is he the bigger one of the two Kiwi? Brazil were losing a moment ago, but I've flicked over tot he gymnastics for a bit.

Womens 400m freestyle heats about to start, I think we have Rebecca Adlington in this, the gymnastics will have to wait.

Yeah Ozzy. Its just great. The Olympics is just different to any other global sports meet. Its special. Long may it remain so.
Im always looking to cook something different every week roysh, and I saw a nice BBC page on recipes. Then I saw the Chef. Man. I would be her Galley-slave forever.
I love Indian food. A speciality of mine. I was taught by an Indian lady who did official courses. Loved it.

Re: The Zone Virtual Sports Bar, Hamilton.
Heard a brilliant story about a wedding last night. The lucky couple were having their reception at this posh picturesque hotel in Fermanagh presumably on the loch somewhere. They'd had this idea that for the kids there as part of their 'goodie bag' they would include a bottle of bubble mixture so they could amuse themselves while the adults got plastered. During the reception the kids where sent outside into the garden to play with the bubbles so as not to cause any damages or spillages inside. I can only assume the adults told to watch the children were otherwise engaged. In the hotel garden was a koi pond complete with koi and a large fountain. Vast numbers of bubble mixture were poured into said pond by the children who wanted to 'feed the fishes'. Chaos ensued.
Koi are like 2 grand each.

Mon Beckie! Believe. She has a lovely nose too. I love girls with Stephie Graf/character noses.
Ya can't trust girls with little pert, turned-up noses. No way. Specially if they have a high-forehead/hairline.
Watch out for them Willser. Tip for vaandag. They are normally total beeches.

I watched the men's indoor jollyball this morning. GB v Bulgaria. GB lost, but it was interesting to watch a sport I've never watched before. Didn't have a clue what was going on and how the teams beat each other mind. They were fully dressed for indoors too. What's that all about?

Gibbo, I watched the archery yesterday, USA versus Italy. The Italians needed a ten from their last arrow to beat the States by a point - and their archer nailed it. It was a compelling thing to watch, a bit like darts but more medieval and with fewer drunk spectators.

Re: The Zone Virtual Sports Bar, Hamilton.
Good aft all.
Went to a local 7's tournament yesterday to watch Risca. Mrs didn't want me drinking particularly, as we had a family meal for my mum's birthday, but I had about ten pints of Strongbow (Bowjolais). Anyway, I'm doing a pretty good job of acting sober, bar I walk into the restaurant and miss a big step and fall over. Probably my best entrance anywhere, ever. Was a lovely meal though and I didn't annoy anybody, so all is well.
Off for a few more ciders/cidres today. Delighted the Sharks won yesterday, so my mate can watch the final in Hamilton now.

I think I drink slightly better in the sun Gibbo. Plus you always gain a bit more tolerance after drinking the previous night, I find.
I am off to a rescue centre tomorrow to look at puppies. My wife fell in love with some of the dogs I took photos of, when I went walking/cleaning them the other day. So I might finally be getting myself a dog too.

Afternoon all,
Saw that too Lucky, fascinating ebb and flo in that one, it looked like USA had reeled the Italians in with their last three "ends" pulling back from a deficit of 6 at one stage to leave Italy needing 27 to win, 8,9,10 Grazie!
Like Ozzy (I think) mentioned earlier, you do end up watching stuff you'd never think off, just watched a young lad representing GB get put out of the sabre by a crafty Belorussian. Fencing is fast.

You're not wrong about the womens road race CJ. The fact that there isn't a group gone out into the lead like in the mens means it is still wide open.

I'm happy, Lizzie in the breakaway and if the breakaway fails, Cooke and Pooley in the Pelaton at the front and Vos out of it, and the other countries doing some work as opposed to yesterday

Leading group smashing out 46km/h at present, the peloton are not going to catch them I don't think, as they are working as a team up there.

Zabalinskaya needs to pull her finger out a bit to keep this leading group ahead. Armitstead is going great guns, really hope if they stay ahead that she can do Vos in a sprint finish.
