The Zone Virtual Sports Bar, Hamilton.
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Zone Sports Bar, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
This week the pub has set up in Sky City Hamilton, where the Crusaders take on the Chiefs in the Super XV semi final.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Bradley Wiggins, Ernie Els, Irene van Dyk, Sonny Bill Williams and his newly capped All Black team mate Sam Cane.

Absolutely over the moon for her. What an effort. She was made to work hard by Armistead though who rode a superb race.

I found this really interesting. We haven't quite anticipated the impact of new technologies on the Olympics completely...

Sounds like it was an attempt to broadcast on the cheap to me, rather than set up a private network they relied on using mobile phone networks? Mentalists.

Got to love the classy journalism of the Guardian. Each to their own but these kind of articles usually work better they are not full of the stench of insecurity and bitterness, I have to say

My biggest criticism of that is it isn't funny. The whole Lisa Simpson gag is tired and recycled. He comes across unsympathetically and is really overreaching. Yet he has the kernel of a point; suddenly it's not okay for anyone to say anything bad about the Olympics because it's in Britain. There's a lot of national pride gushing around over there right now, evidently.
I think a tongue in cheek article that aims to gently puncture that would be welcome and thats what he's trying to do. But he should've remembered to put the jokes in and maybe come across a bit less like a jilted, jealous lover.

Think you're being a bit harsh on Frankie Boyle, it's a joke. Fair play to Adlington she swam well I think there's definitely a few more medals around for team GB in the pool. Nice to see our neighbours do well. If you can throw a couple of medals our way though it would be nice!

Watching the Weightlifting here - a B group PRK lifter ended up winning the Gold over any of the A group lifters!
Can't say I have ever heard of that happening. He ended up matching the world record in the Clean & Jerk.

Sorry rodders, it is just finished! They are giving out the medals now. It is on BBC Olympics channel 22, for me that is 571. It will be on all this week at around 7, today was just the 56kg lifters (the most boring ).

Well there's something fishy there maybe, maybe your man's naturally talented like Kim Jong Il, 11 holes in one in his first round of golf like, the guy is a master.

Yeah North Korea. I agree, Group B lifters shouldn't be setting world records and beating the entire A group.
I've no idea why he was in Group B.

Watching the GB v UAE game here. There is some real talent in this Emirati side. There are honestly a few players in this team that could do very very well in the Premier League.

I'm watching the football here, and GB are rattled. They were INCREDIBLY dominant. They could have had 2 or 3 more. Instead they've been pegged back to 1-1.
Olympic football is a bit of a sideshow but this is worth it to see Giggs bossing things. They need him now.

If it's anything like Qatar's national side a lot of them aren't originally from there

Thomond - an Irishman got through to the finals of the canoe slalom thingy this afternoon. He could get your first medal at some point. . Also well done to Cork getting through in the hurling this arvo.
Giggs is amazing for his age fairdos. He can still outplay kids about 15 years his junior.
Anyway, off to my bed. Early start tomorrow. Nite all

Re: The Zone Virtual Sports Bar, Hamilton.
I fancy Freddie Evans to be in the mix for a big medal in the welterweight boxing, reigning European Champ, ranked 2 in the world and a traditionally slow starter.
He shot out of the blocks today though with a great performance against a tricky young Algerian, fantastic footwork and a slip so sublime the Algerian nearly threw himself to the deck more than once, I suspect he also spat his shield out at one stage which was telling in terms of Evans' dominance.
Get in there Freddie.

Giggs is a true great, but Bellamy is by far the best GB player at the minute. Showing Liverpool what might've been last season if Dalglish picked him more

Bore da pawb / good morning all - sunny here on the docks but there's a slight chill in the air. It's pretty perfect weather actually.
Has anyone ever seen Newswatch? It's the Beeb's news version of Points of View and it's hosted by the great Raymond Snoddy. Anyway, the reason I mention it is that I'm certain they'll get complaints about today's 'Olympic Breakfast'* replacing the usual Breakfast show, on both BBC One and the BBC News channel.
* - Nothing to do with Little Chef.
