TNA iMPACT review 2/8/12
THIS REVIEW WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE 2ND AUGUST EPISODE OF TNA.
- Spoiler:
- The show opens up with Austin Aries and Kenny King brawling against Bobby Roode and Zema Ion. FINALLY they make their way into the ring and the match is underway.
Match 1 - Aries and King vs Roode and Ion
Finish comes when King hits his finisher with no name on Ion for the pin victory.
Match rating - 2.5/5
Typical tag match. Decent opening to impact.
In ring segment
Sting calls out James Storm and says Storm could be connected to Aces and Eights. Storm says he doesn't need help to take people out. Out comes Kurt Angle and there is some tension between him and Storm. He calls out A&8's and invites them to his match vs Storm later on. Sting says he's gonna be ringside for the match.
Segment rating - 3/5
I enjoyed this segment. You could see the tension between Storm and Angle.
Match 2 - Bully Ray vs Robbie E (BFG SERIES)
Before the match started Bully said he's gonna be at ringside for the Storm vs Angle match.
A heel vs a heel??? It was bound to happen in the series sooner or later but Robbie E gets squashed big time. Bully hits his RKO style finisher for the victory in less than 2 mins.
Match rating 1.5/5
What was the point in putting Robbie E in the series? Seriously he is just filling up the numbers as he is obviously gonna finish last.
Match 3 - Knockouts match which I can't be bothered writing about as the whole division is a mess.
Backstage segment
Sting is talking with Brooke Hogan about A&8's. Sting says he doesn't know who they are but he'll find out and get revenge for Hulk Hogan. Brooke gets a threatening letter from A&8's.
Segment rating 1/5
Sting felt as he was gonna make a move on Brooke Hogan from the get go. And she was like "my dad has been beat up a lot of times but I've never seen him as bad as what A&8's did to him" in the worst tone of voice you will ever here.
Match 4 Chavo Guerrero vs Kid Kash
Hernandez and Gunner are at ringside for the match. Finish comes when Chavo hits the three amigos/suplexs and then hits the frogsplash for the win.
Match rating 3/5
Decent debut for Chavo. It will be interesting to see what storyline he will be given. But at least he's not getting beaten by Hornswaggle anymore which is an improvement.
Backstage segment
Kurt Angle is talking to some guy called Wes Brisco. Brisco wants Kurt to get him into TNA and Kurt says he'll see what he can do about it. Devon and Garret show up and say they've got Kurt's back in his match later on.
Segment rating 2.5/5
It was good untill Devon and Garret showed up. These 2 really screwed the scene up.
In ring segment
Chris Daniels and Kaz throw Claire "can't act" Lynch a baby shower. They give her some gifts which I did find slightly funny. Lynch starts screaming about AJ Styles and responsibility which nearly made me deaf.
Segment rating 1/5
I liked the part when Kaz and Daniels were opening the presents. But the whole scene got ruined when "she" opened her mouth. #sheneedsactinglessons
Backstage segment
Sting is talking with Joseph Parks. Parks is saying if Sting ever needs legal rep then he is the man to call. Sting says the black hole slam that Parks did a couple of weeks ago was nice. Parks says he doesn't know what he's talking about and takes a photo of Sting and him together.
Segment rating 2/5
They need to do something new with Parks as he is getting a bit boring.
Match 5 James Storm vs Kurt Angle
Finish comes when Angle has Storm in an ankle lock which lasted about 2mins and reverses it and hits the last call super kick for the victory. After the match Storm calls out A&8's but they don't show up. Bobby Roode gets the mic and says Storm didnt need their help thats why they didnt show up. Bully attacks Storm from behind and they start brawling. Show ends with everyone brawling.
Match rating 3.5/5
A pretty good match. The finish was a bit rushed and I didn't like the fact that Angle had the ankle lock on Storm for a good 2 mins non stop. It should have been a minute tops but 2 mins makes it seem like Storm is superhuman.
TNA SHOW RATING
2.5/5
An average episode of impact. Focus was on whether James Storm is behind A&8's and if they were gonna show up. I might have missed some segments which I thought were unimportant. Let me know what you think of my review
