Nail Your Colours to the Board...!
I noticed a number of other fans on here finding that it often gets confusing as to which team other posters support.
Wondered if others would like to contribute a little about themselves and who they support and why.

Ulster, because I'm from Ulster, (Glens of Antrim to be precise)
Have to confess to having an intrest in Welsh regionislation, and way the WRU handled it, the ongoing problems and attempts to attract fans, the disenfranchised etc etc the list goes on, its one of th emost talked about things on 606 and 606v2, and to be honest if quiet intresting in many ways, esp the way two sets of Welsh fans can remember the same event but completly different from each others.

In the Pro 12 i support Ospreys. I'm from the Ospreys "region"
In the Aviva i support Sale because they have/used to have lots of Welsh players and it's kind of cool to support a Manchester based rugby club i think. I like Gloucester and Northampton's styles of play and "brand" potential (if you get what i mean) as well.

Rabbo/HEC team Ospreys I am from the Afan Valley which is in the Ospreys region.
Though i have recently moved to the south coast of england and have adopted a local team to support for when i cant get back to Wales, Bath RFC are my new team. I'm really looking forward to my second trip to the Rec this weekend.

International - All Blacks
Super XV - Crusaders (born in the region, lived 31 years in the region)
ITM Cup:
- Tasman (born in Marlborough, somewhat peturbed by their merger with arch rival Nelson Bays to form Tasman)
- Canterbury (lived in Christchurch 1994-2006)
Aviva Premiership - Exeter Chiefs (decided to pick an underdog to support last season)
Rabo - Connact (ref. Exeter)
Top 14 - Clermont (decided I wanted a nice big yellow badge in the SuperBru tipping comp)

I'm half english, half irish (Mum from Dover, Dad from Belfast), so London Irish is a natural fit.
I'm also considering going to watch Blackheath if they make it to the Championship next season, as getting to Reading from where I live in kent is a pain in the ar$e.

Born and raised in London, two out of 4 grandparents born and raised in Ireland, there was only one choice really.
Also follow Ulster very closely in the Rabo, as that's where my nan is from.

I am Welsh and I support Welsh rugby, used to go to watch Pontypridd a lot, but now I am to busy with work on a Saturday, now as the regions kick off late on Friday and Saturday and sometimes Sunday I just cherry pick which game I fancy watching and go. Mostly the Ospreys but I will more than likely get to a few games at the cap with my old man this season, I also like to go to Newport when a big side is in town as the atmosphere there is great, I try to go to the Scarlets but that usually coincides with me going to my my caravan in Tenby as I will pop in on the way down.

I am Leinster.
I'm pathalogically programmed to support only teams which represent where I'm from. Ergo, I had no choice. Thankfully.

Live down south in Hampshire, but support Leicester Tigers.
Dad and grandad lifelong fans, and took me to see my first game when I was younger. Neil Back shook my hand and was hooked from then on.
Spent time in Swansea so a soft spot for Ospreys in the Rabo.
I like Western Force in the Super 15.

I am Musselburgh RFC
Our first match of the 2012/13 Championship B season highlighted our massive potential and great team ethos!!! with a resounding FIVE converted tries victory
Musselburgh 35 Peebles 11
Could it get better?, you betcha this weekend saw the boys achieve a magnificent bonus point win with the superb O’Hagan orchestrating the play, and speedster "rocket" James Murray going one better than last years fixture and hitting the ground running for his hat-trick
Murrayfield Wanderers 10 Musselburgh 28
I am also a gunner man and boy
Edinburgh RFC
I am also a 100% blue blood Scot
Scotland RFC
I also have had the pleasure of following the Lions on four tours
B & I Lions RFC
I am an adopted Osprey, followed by a Scarlet having worked in Cardiff but rented an accomodation in Swansea off and on (now off) for the last 6-7 seasons, and love the Welsh people and the fantastic back play particularly the West Walians in red
Come on the 'burghs
I thank you for listening

The last one because I went and obviously played there, Imperial because I go and occasionally play there, Wellington as it's where I lived/near where my parents still live, Edinburgh as it's near my brother and grandparents and Quins as it's my local Premiership club who play in a style I have enjoyed since I saw them 7-8 years ago and I am a Londoner in birth and live in London

Quins.
I live in Surrey and they're reasonably close (just one stop on the train) I've loved their style since I first went back in...2004 with a mate and his dad to watch what was then the Parker Pen cup final (that they won). And now they train at Surrey Sports Park so I get to see them every couple of days.

Been in or around West(Best) London/Surrey all my life and used to work for the sign making company that did all the advertising signage boards around the Stoop. That combined with my old man dragging me up proper with Rugby/Cricket it's a bit of a no brainer!
Quins!
That and it drives the old man mad seeing as he's a Watford lad and a Sarries supporter

Ancestors from Scot, by way of Antrim, Kilkenny, Cork and Dublin. And a smidgeon of Cavan on my mother's side. Have family in Dublin and Belfast and will support any province at the drop of a pint. Well in fact anyone, claims my partner.
Soft spot for L Irish and Leicester. Edinburgh too. Bordeaux, Sharks and Brumbies take my fancy from time to time.
And my favourite colour is purple with a hint of tranquility green. I like a straight mast with a roundy thing on top, but would prefer half-inch white lanyard please than nails.

Born in Glasgow 1949 . But support Edinburgh ( That's just so you don't confuse me with AsLongAsBut100ofUs )
Lived in South Africa 1975-1985 ( Western Province fan then )
Lived in Exeter since 1985 ( Chiefs fan since then and season ticker holder since they decided to build Sandy Park a few hundred yards from my house. )
Soft spot for Northampton because they never complained about their year on the naughty step.
Also have an affinity for Canterbury Crusaders ( I have to because my son lives in Christchurch )
Oh!! and of course SCOTLAND

Scarlets fan.
Lived most of my life in Carmarthenshire (county where Scarlets are based).
Grew up supporting Llanelli so Scarlets logical follow on to that.
Also keep an eye on Llanelli, Llandovery and Carmarthen Quins, as well as my local town side, Llandeilo.

Scotland - Born in Surrey to Scottish parents - no mixed loyalties, but certainly an appreciation for the way things are done down south.
Glasgow - Been living here for four months, and bought my Warriors season ticket within 24 hours of moving up. I like Edinburgh's style of play, but they're too frustrating for a guy with my cholesterol level.
Bath - My brother's a big fan, and I've spent spent some happy days at the Rec.
Other teams -
Mull RFC - Muilach to the core, pal.
Rugby Championship - Australia
Top 14 - Stade Francais
Super 15 - Honestly, I have no idea. That Carter chap's pretty good.
RFU Championship - London Scottish - Great-uncle played for them after the war, and could tell you some stories about the antics of London Welsh supporters...

Re: Nail Your Colours to the Board...!
Born and bred in Walsall, went to the same school as Rupert Moon and Colin Charvis so naturally support Bath...
It was the games master's fault, he was a Bath man and wanted us to emulate them in the free running and expansive nature of the "Bath way". I was a forward so didn't really understand any of that shoite, but I used to watch them in the JPS Cup, Pilkington Cup and Courage league just in case he asked any questions on a Monday afternoon.
So I've technically been a Bath fan since 1978, through good times and bad. Mostly bad recently...

It could only ever be Bath....but the wife is from Edinburgh, so they are my second team and generally the underdog, as are Bath these days....sadly.
I live in hope that the glory days are not far away despite the odds, which are stacked against us at the moment. Our owner is making moves behind the scenes though.....time will tell.....

Saints
- and yes the name is an appropriate reference to our players, management and, of course our supporters (and me!). Any implication otherwise is clearly a misunderstanding.
Born in Hong Kong, but to a mostly English family which was part of the foreign service and moved around a lot. Settled for a while in Northampton after medical school when working at beautiful Northampton General. More importantly, at that time I played a lot of Rugby with the Northampton and another local club. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there - all I did was work and play Rugby. Life was good in a Rugby city. Becoming a Saints supporter was an easy choice.

Re: Nail Your Colours to the Board...!
Born and bred in Sydney - I have no option but to follow the Waratahs (painful I know!)
On a club level here it's confusing. Originally from Manly but never followed the Marlins (but they are probably my 3rd team).
Mostly followed the Gordon Highlanders (I lived in Lindfield on the North Shore for about 30 years) and Sydney University (studied there so it's easy to jump on that bandwagon). Live in Willoughby now (next to Channel 9) and that's in Northern Suburbs territory. Like them too!
Mum's ancestors blew over from France but settled in Devon (Bodmin, Compton and Dartmouth) but spread out into Ireland and Scotland as well. Hence, I'm really thrilled the Exeter Chiefs are in the Jeff... so I follow them. Soft spot for Gloucester.
In Ireland - it's probably Ulster or Connacht. Ancestors from Enniskillen and Donegal.
In Wales - Cardiff Blues. One of my relatives plays for them. James Paterson.
In Scotland - I'd follow Glasgow since other ancestors lived around the west coast and on the Isles of Raasay and Skye.
In New Zealand - (still Mum's lot.... boy they got around!) it would be any of the South Island teams really. Gran born in Nelson (Tasman), Mum born in Invercargill (Southland) did nursing in Dunedin (Otago) then lived in Mid Canterbury and Christchurch. I would like to see the underdogs like Southland and Tasman win more but not too fussed though.
Dad was from Austro-Hungarian stock so it'd be Ferencvaros (he played for their junior side as a teenager) and Nürnberg or now Greuther Fürth (the Cloverleaves) in the Bundesliga.
I'm also a Manly Sea Eagles and Sydney Swans supporter. Sydney Sixers, NSW (Sheffield Shield) and of course Australia in the cricket.
I liked Liverpool when I was a young kid (the wall of scarves in the Kop made a huge impression on me) but I also have a soft spot for the Hammers.
So to summarise: If it's a bird, got horns or some sort of flower.... I follow them!

And my old school
The last one because I went and obviously played there, Imperial because I go and occasionally play there, Wellington as it's where I lived/near where my parents still live, Edinburgh as it's near my brother and grandparents and Quins as it's my local Premiership club who play in a style I have enjoyed since I saw them 7-8 years ago and I am a Londoner in birth and live in London
Hey Chequered, my brother in law has just finished a two year stint at the London Imperial collage, it is a lovely place right in the middle of the city with a lot of history, its been there since the 1500's hasn't it ? Anyway we are all off to the Royal Albert Hall to see him get his cap and gown in October. Small world isn't it ?

Re: Nail Your Colours to the Board...!
Rabo: Glasgow, I was born in Ayrshire, always went to Glasgow as a boy and studied law at the University there for 4 years. It's my spiritual home. My second team will always be Edinburgh, my third will always be Ulster. Because I'm territorial like that.
Club: Ayr, the mighty mazongas of Millbrae.
Jeff: always grew up supporting Sarries. I genuinely cannot recall why. But I was a fan long before they became the Arsenal of the league.
Top 14: I have friends in Toulouse and Montpellier any have visited the French riviera so often with my (native French speaking) wife that I feel like part of the furniture in either of those cities. Could genuinely find my way around either city centre without a map.
Super 15: Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanterbury. Nobody else - visited the region, loved it, saw a Log match there (Andrew Mehrtens played like a tw@t, I was so disappointed) and Christchurch is one of my favourite cities in the world - felt like home. Except with Speights.
Other: Abu Dhabi Harlequins, of course: http://www.abudhabiquins.com/default.aspx

Re: Nail Your Colours to the Board...!
Well I'm a Fifer sadly. It's a pain that never ends.
I would have really been following the Cally Red's but they were expunged from the records and now I have Defaulted to Edinburgh. I mean lets face it I wouldn't support those soap dodgers on the west coast. So in the Rabo Edinburgh. Also have a soft spot for the Scarlets.
In the Aviva I have always liked the Sharks since the days of the great Whyte Shark Jason himself was out thumping people in the contact area. Now with Redpath at the helm and plenty more Scottish names in their books so I support Manchester Scottish (AKA Sale) in the Prem.
I like the the Highlanders in the SANZAR stuff and Clermont in the French League.
Consider my colours nailed to the board.

Rabo- I am a munster man then it would be Connacht, ulster and lastly Leinster. My family lived in wales for seven years before I was born and my older brother played u8s or u10s for Llanilie (spelling wrong) so always like the Scarlets as well.
I do like the underdog so if the game is in the league I like to see Zebre, Treviso and Dragons do well
Aviva - Exeter though same again I like the underdog
T14 - non really but not Toloun
Super15 - Father in Law is a Blue Bull, played underage for them, so I kind of am too.

Quins!
That and it drives the old man mad seeing as he's a Watford lad and a Sarries supporter
As they say, insanity is hereditary: you get it off yer kids.
He'll cetainly attest to that Portnoy! Things get tense for the West vs. North London derbies

I don't understand people who are 'massive rugby fans' yet don't support a specific club.

The club doesn't represent them?

Re: Nail Your Colours to the Board...!
In honesty I was referring to some English rugby fans who are well catered for by clubs.
I know lots of English rugby fans who don't actually support a team
