Colours, Oh FFS...
Does anyone know about this pish I've seen in the indo-
http://www.independent.ie/sport/gaelic-football/leinster-hit-back-in-blue-row-with-dubs-2934279.html
Apparently as Dublin "unleashes its blue wave" its having a wee go at the leinster rugby mob for "subliminal exploitation" of Dublin's colours. Whit!? The European champions and the all-Ireland champions having what seems to be a childish argument over nothing. Surely this can't be Dublin having an inferiority complex as they're the current football champs and the GAA themselves have already stated the due to population no other county created the hysteria that the Dubs do. Both Dublin and Leinster are sporting success stories for Ireland but this "subliminal" poor us gobshite is patheitic, perhaps Man City should take the same tone with the Dubs or Munster should have a go at Cork, Kildare V Real Madrid, Galway United V county GAA...
I don't know where any of this nonsense came from or how it all started but the Dubs talk about mutual respect but then have a go at another set-up just because they wear a similar kit? I'm not into all this threat to the GAA guff- they don't even play the same sport at the same time. Rugby and Soccer are popular too, big deal, Irish fans on the whole tend to support more than one sport in my experience anyway, but it will still always be GAA country. If Dublin are that worried then mabye they should spend more time in improving their promotion of GAA rather than having a pop at Leinster.

Gaelic - me and Mickado were on about that yesterday in the oval ball section. I personally came to the conclusion that it was an idiotic remark that means eff all. Leinster have played in blue for yonks, and they both play in different shades of blue anyway.

This is one of the most stupid thing's Ive ever heard, what are they thinking? They don't even play in the same shade of blue, Leinster will never compete with Dublin for fan's because the people in the inner city and the outskirts have no connection with rugby at all because sadly it's a rich man's sport in Dublin.

Well, I was at both the All Ireland final and the Heineken cup final (as well as both league finals) and would consider myself a fan of both codes.
My 4 mates that attend every Leinster match with me are from Tallaght (x3) and Longford (x1).
Your point is still valid though, “subliminal exploitation” is bulls**t. I’m perfectly happy to support both but that report was a lot more polarizing that it should have been.

I don't mind rugby myself, id watch the Irish province's or Ireland when they are playing but I was referring to the heart of the city, there is not one rugby club in the inner city and Dubs have a lot of fan's from there and the so called rougher part's of Dublin where there are no rugby club's at all.

Re: Colours, Oh FFS...
I suppose the difference is that rugby (in Leinster more so than in Munster) has picked up fans outside of the club environment.
Not having a local club isn’t really a deterrent from attending Leinster games.
Plus there is a Tallaght and Clondalkin RFCs, so it’s not all D4 heads playing it.

It's not a deterrant from going to Leinster games for some people but it does'nt help to get ordinary working class people involved in the game the way they are in other place's like Munster or Wales. If a kid from town want's to take up rugby he has to either go to a posh school which most parent's can't afford or he has to travel a fair distance to a club. Soccer and g.a.a are a lot more accessible to ordinary kid's in Dublin is what im trying to say.

Re: Colours, Oh FFS...
I agree with you, but I suppose it works both ways. I never went to a rugby playing school or travelled to a club when I was younger but 5 or 6 years ago when I decided to start going to Leinster games it was all very accessible, cold buy tickets on Ticketmaster, whereas if I was in Munster I would have had to be in a club.
Im a Dub first and foremost though
