First topic message reminder :

Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The Pub has made its way to Amsterdam in honour of original publican Gibson who is finally back in gainful employment. One small step for man ...

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of former Corso Marauder Lawrence Dallaglio or young ice hockey prize winner (thanks to the v2ers) Chris Boyd.

I have a feeling they brought that to Galway before. Were you at it yeah? Nice pics from the Beeb. Munster on at 8 or so, expecting a win but you never know.

Connacht by 9, 15 minutes to go Think they have 2 tries was watching the Ireland game so didn't see most of it.

Ireland's sprint king Jason Smyth did the 100 and 200m double in the Paralympics. Matched Bolt's feat. Delighted for the go, phenomenal athletes. He is legally blind as far as I know, must be a tough sport to compete in. 16 medals I think for Ireland. Round 7 golds.

No I wasn't there Thom. It's still going on and it's about 100 miles away from me. That's the same county that Penfro is from and where my mam lives though Smile

Ah cool. Welsh national anthem is great just listened to it there for their soccer team. Also I think we now have someone who can finally rival the Scarlets (Welsh? Wink ) in terms of on-eyedness!

Ah yes they're playing Belgium up the road. I saw loads of Belgians in town early this morning. Noisy lot the football fans even at eight in the morning. Very Happy

3 - 8 after half an hour. Great try from Visser.

Visser is very dangerous. Look out if Scotland nab him for their squad...

9-8 now after a controversial Blues penalty. Should've been an Edinburgh one, but the match officials saw otherwise...

He played in the summer I think but might be wrong. Scotland might score more than a try in the 6 nations, that scares me.

Drama in't pub.

A guy's gone a bit loopy after being asked to leave because he was drunk, and preaching at everyone.

He barged back into the pub and slung some furniture about and other stuff before being bundled out by some of the lads.

The feds have (finally) got him in the back of a wagon.

He's lucky they turned up - my mate, Biff, was about to launch him into the next county.

They said on Scrum V Shingler was binned though, Mrs Pen? Good going that they're still ahead then.

Edinburgh's fullback binned, Cuthbert in with the try. 16 - 8.

Yes he was. It's now 6-10 at half-time. Jackson's just found his boots!!
It's a nightmare tonight though, there's so much sport on - two rugby matches, the paralympics, cycling from Québec and the football! Talk about channel-hopping like mad.

Not really that scary Cari. I don't think he wanted to hurt anyone; he did up the ante when he was told the police were turning up. Odd bloke.

Still, congrats to Connacht on the win.

And Visser is a lethal try scorer. If only Scotland had a back line to make the most of him.

Tom James big mistake leads to a penalty try for Edinburgh and Navidi going in the bin.

19-18 after 62 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Blues new fullback is Prince Harry.

Edinburgh saved by Laidlaw's boot. 19-21. Blues should've won that, but Tom James really let them down twice by fluffing two big chances. That's why he's not in the Welsh squad.

Must have watched a different game, Cariadwr, the Junkies were miles ahead in almost every facet of the game, Cuthbert and Halfpenny aside - general incompetence on the ball allowed the Blues to stay in the game

The would've won that had they not missed two penalties and Tom James hadn't messed up. The Blues didn't get many try chances true, but in terms of points they really should've won it. I think Halfpenny going off was a turning point for them to be honest.

I think I've just aged about 10 years, god damn you Priestland, it's just not healthy I tell you!

Ale for Asbo.

Blydi hard fought win for Scarlets that, thought we'd be on for a tbp at one point but Glasgow really came back at us in the last 20 mins, really thought they might have a chance of nicking it in the end.
Don't know how Kelly avoided a yellow after slowing Glasgow ball on the Scarlets' try line mind but the ref was a bit funny, I shall call him a ref of two halves and leave it at that.

Chuffed for Sanjay getting MotM again! and an away win, massive improvement on how we performed up in Glasgow last season, so can't complain too much.

Munster 19 Treviso 6 after 65 minutes.
Rather than winning this easily as I thought Munster are making hard work of it. I think the ref hasn't bern great. Yellow card for Italian was harsh and could have sent a Munster player to the bin but didnt.

Aww shucks has everyone gone to bed? Haven't graced the pub with my presence for a while so I do hope y'all are swell and haven't missed by inane banter, jokes and general sophistication. Bit of a rage this evening as I realised sportsguru didn't send me a reminder email about this weeks picks so that's probably my challenge scuppered.

Also there is potential for more relationship advice if anyone fancies listening to my problems. I really wish I had a cool big brother or a friendly uncle/aunt. Applications by email please.

Oh and btw hasn't the Paralympics been bloody class. Pistorious made himself look a bit of a Holly Wilaboobie but still. Thoroughly epic summer of sport.

Trust a Cork City player to change the game. Super Kevin Doyle came up trumps as Ireland won luckily.

He's losing the players bit by bit as well. And why does he persevere with Cox, when you have Long on the bench?

*vent* steam

1 - car breaks down
2 - judge picks all his mates
3 - realise the lambs we've just put in the deep freeze would be much better suited to Carlisle
4 - guy phones auctioneers to buy them over the phone, but auctioneers don't phone him back when the lambs are in the ring
5 - car still on AA van somewhere
6 - manage to hitch a lift for three of us and the trailer but we are crammed in the back of a twin cab pick up and the hosts aren't very talkative
7 - we forget to bring back a lamb we had promised to in all the commotion
8 - we've spent £500 on frozen semen but the courier didn't get it to the AI company in time.

But, look on the bright side eh, we've learnt a lot on our first (/last?) trip to Flip Car Flip lisle!

The contest at the breakdown here is senesational stuff to watch as a neutral. Full blooded and fully contested. This is how I think rugby should be played.

All Blacks kicked a penalty and are now on front.

Australia could really learn a lot from how Argentina have played this game.

loving all the twitter updates going on about the rugby, not sure if Argentina can keep up this level of effort though.

Hopefully, they'll have the wind in the second half. The water on the ball continues to kill any All Black momentum.

Just turned it on with a few minutes to go in the half and All Blacks were counter-rucking very aggressively and Argentina weren't getting the numbers there to stop it.

Seems like Argentina have done excellently to get to this position but if NZ can counter-ruck as effectively as that in the second half, it won't last.

I think Argentina tired. They need to trust their outside backs a bit more as they have actually done quite well when they've had the ball.

What would be great for this tournament is even if Argentina do fade in the final quarter, this performance makes sure New Zealand make damn sure they put out their strongest next time Argentina come to town!

I'm just thinking, I'm so glad a player of the calibre of Lobbe is playing in this comp. Finally an annual stage for a player of his quality to show that to the world. I really do believe that he is the best 8 in the world alongside Read.
